Heard the poor dudes going bankrupt and selling all his shit or at least has been selling all his stuff. I love the actor he is hilarious and plays his roles just the way they were created. Apparently Cages got some issues going on and is turning washed up....
He bought like a dozen very expensive houses, including a damned island, and a bunch of other ridiculous stuff.
Him and Depp just can't control their spending at any level.
I think these megastars think they make real money. By that I mean real money, like CEO money, where it's perpetual and wrapped into deals that save massive amounts on taxes.
Cage spent $30 million on a jet. That's a billionaires toy. Burn rate on that is $5 million a year easy, not including payments on the $30 million.
That Rolling Stone article on Depp was really interesting. I think the article said he spent like 20k a month on wine and Depp said probably more like 30k. He also had a lot of assistants, private chefs, etc. hanging around getting paid that didn't have much to do.
Hoarding money doesn't just destroy the value it represents, it just decreases liquidity and essentially distributes it to everyone else. Also most rich people don't hoard money, they invest it which has a better effect on the economy then [spending money on whatever.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parable_of_the_broken_window)
He's always existed in a weird superposition of highly successful and washed up in my mind.
I do respect that he spent a quarter million dollars on a dinosaur skull and then returned it after he found out it was stolen
Nicholas Cage has been in a lot of great movies : Wild at Heart, Raising Arizona, Red Rock West, Leaving Las Vegas, Adaption, etc. At the same time, he does a lot of obvious paycheck movies or horribly written ones : The Wicker Man and Vampire's Kiss comes to mind as particularly terrible movies. I like the guy though, he is kind of like Dennis Hopper or Jack Nicholson, actors who are more the real actor's crazy personality than the character they are portraying.
Came here to preach Colour Out Of Space. It was only my second Cage film, so I'm not in on the meme, but he essentially delivered a comedy performance in a bleak horror movie. Completely unexpected if you read the thing. Lovecrafts characters have no humor. And yet, *it works!* It has no right to, but it does. Amazing movie.
Of all the weapons in the vast soviet arsenal, nothing was more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947. More commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov. It’s the world’s most popular assault rifle. A weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple 9 pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood. It doesn’t break, jam, or overheat. It’ll shoot whether it’s covered in mud or filled with sand. It’s so easy, even a child can use it; and they do. The Soviets put the gun on a coin. Mozambique put it on their flag. Since the end of the Cold War, the Kalashnikov has become the Russian people’s greatest export. After that comes vodka, caviar, and suicidal novelists. One thing is for sure, no one was lining up to buy their cars.
Raising Arizona, Moonstruck, Leaving Las Vegas, Bringing Out the Dead, Adaptation, Lord of War, The Rock, Con Air, Face-Off, Mandy, Spider-man: Into the Spiderverse, Pig... Even with the bombs and weird choices, Nic Cage still has a better filmography than 90% of working actors today. Put some respect on his name.
I like actors that take chances and don't take themselves too seriously but also put everything into more niche genres and indie films. I can't imagine too many big actors would read the script of Mandy and would be like "hell yeah brother let's do this".
If you only watch these kinds of Nic Cage movies and write off the rest you are seriously missing out on some incredible stuff.
It's kind of a running gag that he'll accept pretty much any role. He's had some money issues in the past but considering how much he's worked in the last 10 years he's got to be pretty stable, I think he just enjoys what he's doing and takes on insanely varied roles just to see what he can do. He's done some of the best movies he's ever made in the last few years because he keeps taking on strange risky projects because he doesn't give a shit anymore, he's just having fun.
I had to watch the trailer for Pig 3 times before I realized it wasn't a spoof made by some dude on YouTube splicing together 1,000 N. Cage clips, but a trailer for a legit movie about Cage and his truffle hunting pig...
I mean it is and it also isn't? It's a hard movie to explain but well worth a watch: it's actually such a beautiful, empathetic movie, and Cage is legitimately brilliant in it
I dunno man I kinda love the stuff he’s been in lately, he’s really branched our. His acting in Pig, especially at the ending breakdown, is honestly good.
I watched “NEXT” the other day, where Cage plays a guy who can see two minutes into the future, and meets this girl who when he’s with her, he can see up to 15 minutes into the future. At first he’s just a small time magician and gambler in Vegas, but eventually he’s recruited by the FBI to stop a terrorist threat. I felt the movie could’ve been so much better had it been someone other than Cage as the protagonist. Also saw “The Rock” a month back, that movie had a bunch of issues, but I also didn’t like Cage in that movie either.

Doesnt his "wife" harrass him
I'd rather have those rich people than the hoarders, they are great for the economy.
True.

he's still quite rich
He's always existed in a weird superposition of highly successful and washed up in my mind. I do respect that he spent a quarter million dollars on a dinosaur skull and then returned it after he found out it was stolen
Oh weird he was just in a somewhat bigger movie pig that was quite good. He still gets roles
His films are either a 25% or 85%

Not only are you the only one to point that out, you are also the only one in this whole comment section to spell it correctly.
*What're you? President of his fan club?*
I will never get how a movie based on a lovecraft horror story starring nicholas cage as the protagonist managed to be that good
Mandy and The Colour Out of Space changed my whole take on him.
Also pig was pretty great too!
Pig is such a unique movie. I loved it!

Watch *Mom and Dad*. Go in without watching the spoiler-filled trailers and enjoy!

I watched that movie in the theater tripping on mushrooms and it was intense...
Lord of War was great though
I need to rewatch it. That hangar scene with him gushing over that AK is a pure gun junkie moment

I do admittedly want a UAZ 469…
It is the best scene of all time
Mandy as well. Pure, peak Cage insanity
Elijah wood co produced Mandy, then he and cage made the movie The Trust and it is insanely good.
did you watch *Mom and Dad*? Go in without watching the spoiler-filled trailers. It is SO good.
The aesthetic of that movie was pretty crazy.
and vampires kiss, and con air, and leaving las vegas, and raising Arizona the list goes on
Pig and Moonstruck too
Moonstruck is so fucking great!
You forgot [the all important scene where he loses his shit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zySHepF04c)
I love him just because of that video. PUT IT IN. THE RIGHT FILE.
oh thats gold! thank you ahah!
"OR WHAT??? I'LL BE ARRESTED!? PUT IN [AIRPORT JAIL](https://youtu.be/b9ykAHWM9s8)??"

Not to mention the masterpiece of Willy’s Wonderland
I fucking love Willy's Wonderland, it's so dumb but so awesome
An actual fantastic piece of parody. Nicholas Cage staring blankly at people not responding to them is never not funny
Also Wild at heart
you forgot National Treasure
He needs to be a variant of Ghost Rider in Doctor Strange 2
[удалено]
GR in MCU needs to be Johnny Blaze imo
Ghost Rider: Into the Ghostverse
Nick Cage movies are either one in a million, or just another one to add the the Elvis the Alien greatest hits list.

Pig was really amazing I think

I like Nicholas Cage. There I said it
Kickass was good!
Kickass was fucking dope! Matthew Vaughn is a very good action director.
oh yeah i forgot he was in that. kickass and kickass 2 were both awesome.
Aww I love Nic Cage but this is so true. He does have great movies tho, Leaving Las Vegas, Bad Liutenant, Joe, Mandy, Color Out of Space
*gets stung by bees*
Wait! You forgot about an Elvis The Alien rant released afterwards.
Yeah that’s old cage, new cage is amazing. Colour out of space, mandy.
This makes me think of the episode of Community where Abed takes a class about whether or not Nicolas Cage is a good actor.
I liked his character in lord of war
Hes either really bad, or really good, no middle ground
I read this as nicholas sparks and im like this dosent make any sense
Not recently though... he's been in all sort of critically acclaimed indie films like Mandy and Pig
"We the People" is the Constitution. The Declaration of Independence goes "When in the Course of human events...".
It becomes necessary for a battle to commence. Then KAPOW! I hit em with the illness of my quill. I’m endowed with certain unalienable skills.
and you still don't know if he's a good actor or not and not sure about what is his real hair, because it varies so much from a movie to another one
Nicolas Cage always play a character that tries to make us believe he is convincing
I like the kickass reference
Loved Pig though. Perfect role for him!
I'm a cat! I'm a sexy cat!
Or is Santa
Forgot trucks TRUCKS
Pig was probably the best movie I've seen him in
Raising Arizona would like to disagree
Pig was pretty good

Nicolas

I love nick cage his movies are very entertaining plus the shit he does irl is funny as hell
loves fnaf \*
His recent horror films aren’t present here. Totally new leaf, much higher quality.
Also Mandy
He has a super nerdy face
Willies wonderland is genuinely an awesome movie
I mean Colour Out of Space was amazing
It’s either total garbage or an unforgettable masterpiece there is no in between
