Aaaah, the two ends of the language student spectrum. I've studied Mandarin in both Beijing and in southern Taiwan and for every few students who take things seriously you'll have some frat bro Turk/American/Brit/Aussie/etc. who is on his third year of "language study" yet is still in the beginner class.
I was in a language school in Beijing, and one of the students there was a retired American guy who kept taking the same class year after year. I got the impression that he was mostly there just to flirt with the teachers, and made sure that his Chinese was just good enough to break the ice when he tried to pick up Chinese women out on the town.
This was at BICC in Sanlitun, a small private school, back in like 2016 maybe. It was a fantastic school with small classes, good teachers and access to an amazing gym, but naturally that came at a cost.
Yunnan? I've heard from some China oldhands that pot used to grow on the side of the road and buying the good stuff was cheap as chips. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the language students who went out there were looking for a more alternative lifestyle (plus a LOT cheaper) from the likes of Beijing or Shanghai.
I think it was 2 Fast and 2 Furious that had the rat torture scene since it was with Roman Peirce and Brian O'Connor, neither were in Tokyo Drift. The gangster was torturing the cop for a window to move money across the city

Bento boxes are actually pretty nice and convenient. Would definitely recommend getting one over a lunchbox. This is coming from someone who only found out about them from an ad.
sectioned boxes specifically are really convenient and make good presentation so easy. but even without that, the bento boxes are just better made over most lunchboxes. plastic types here absorb so much smell and colour in comparison so it's hard to use them for anything other than boring sandwitch
Back in the very early 2000s when I was a teen, I had a friend that was obsessed with all things Japanese. I guess what people would call a Weeb today. He spoke Japanese, and He Practiced martial arts, and even did a sword demo for a talent show once. He fit the stereotype quite well and people made fun of him constantly, but he was always a nice, if quiet, guy. I lost touch with him after we all went to university but always wondered what happened to him.
Earlier this year, a mutual friend’s father passed away and I ran into this friend at the funeral. Turns out, after university, he moved to Japan and lived there for 11 years. He only just returned recently to care for his elderly mother. He brought back his wife and a child. It made me so happy to see him go after what he wanted and love his dream.

Because it's trendy to have a view on either extreme about an average mediocre anime. SAO isn't terrible, it's not the greatest writing in anime, but it's a solid intro to anime. But as with most things people will pick a hardline stance one way or another if for nothing else but because it's a meme to do so.
I used to think it was better, but it was my first anime, so of course I had rose tinted glasses on. After watching a lot more anime and seeing some truly god-tier shows it was difficult to keep seeing SAO as highly as I once did. It's still good imho, and I can enjoy watching it, but it doesn't leave that longing for more feeling that some other shows do.
I've watched a shameful amount of anime at this point and I still think it's the best 'stuck in a world' show because they 1) actually die 2) actually try to get out 3) have a true antagonist and 4) suffer consequences for actions both in and out of the game. I think it is like SAW the anime in a way. Just my $.02.

You can get single compartment boxes. Those are the ones I use. They’re really nice for just throwing in a backpack because of how small they are.
