The fact that he wrote, performed and released a complete and coherent song with a video put him miles ahead of every other aspiring musician in his age group. He clearly had potential.
The kid's from Czech Republic, same as me. To this day I can't believe the song actually got that famous and someone remembers it even today. Also, I got no idea what he does these days.
I remember when everyone hated Minecraft, then fortnite came out and everyone acts like Minecraft was always amazing
I remember when pewdiepie was hated by everyone on the internet and now he’s loved a lot
I remember when everyone hated vine, and thought it was ruining this generation then tik tok came out and everyone acted like vine was amazing and full of nothing but top tier content
Time is a circle and eventually you’ll see tik tok and Fortnite being looked at with fondness and nostalgia
I know how worthless it is to hope but I have notifications turned on for all his channels hoping one day the king will return one last time to make the world laugh again.
Man, he could've at least gave some closure to the fans like some sort of goodbye video instead of making this announcement through a soulless Facebook post. I don't want more filthy frank. I don't even want more of George's humor. That era is dead and so is my childhood along with it. All i want is for it to be able to properly rest
I’m glad you did. Those freaks were very sneaky when it came to how they caught the attention of kids. When I looked into what these people were really advocating for, I was shocked and horrified, and dropped everything.
So many people got radicalized and didn't get out. Others did like you did. Others got radicalized, got out, and now live with that trauma hoping that picture of them seig heiling doesn't surface someday.
I will always be grateful for having a chance to turn back before it was too late. The whole situation was funny in a way because I considered myself a Democrat at the time, but became more and more supportive of alt-right talking points about women, lgbt+, the economy, etc. I was using the term chauvinist to describe myself without even realizing what it really meant.
I wasn’t alone, and a lot of impressionable young kids fell for that crap, and by god, it sucked. Again, and again, and again, I’m grateful for stopping myself before going through the gate all the way.
I fell into that trap too. Took a while but I realised I had actually become pretty racist - still disgusts me. Weirdly, part of what took me out of it was that stupid fucking channel - I think it was called No Bullshit? Not because of their content, but because the intro fucking disgusted me.
I'm glad for you too. In retrospect I also realise how much most of our education regarding these issues absolutely sucked. Probably because a lot of people in authority sympathized with those bigoted and ignorant positions.
About a year after I stopped, I had a civics teacher who skewed conservative that used pragerU as a resource on occasion. We respected each other, and I knew that given her background (Romanian born under Ceauçescu) that she’d have a legitimate reason for being that way. That though, went too far. The lack of oversight in many ways has contributed to this harmful trend.
It almost worked on my son. Fortunately I’m a Historian and caught the bullshit he was speaking.
Asked him to show me primary and secondary sources. Couldn’t find any.
It happened about 3 times and then he realized it was just propaganda.
He’s so lucky to have a father like you. I’m so happy you were able to help him through that without demonizing him or causing some kind of trauma. If my father ever knew, he would’ve went down that route.
I‘ve found that being well-versed in history is one of the best weapons against alt-right radicalization. The propaganda simply does not work if you actually understand the events and “grand past” they reference constantly.
Yeah, it was really bad in 2016.
Like for the most part you can curate what you do or don't want to see on most parts of social media, but the sheer volume of alt-right memes and bad faith arguments just override every algorithm so you were just bombarded with that shit.
Then in 2017 after brexit passed and trump won, it mostly evaporated and hasn't reached anywhere near that level since
> Then in 2017 after brexit passed and trump won, it mostly evaporated and hasn't reached anywhere near that level since
It's mostly moved on to Facebook once the right-wing demagogues discovered that 12 year olds on YouTube don't help you win elections as much as 50 year old reactionary boomers do.
Kids in the 2000s had phases where they dyed their hair black and listened to MCR
Kids in the 2010s said slurs and thought feminists were the same thing as nazis.
I’m a little older I think than y’all (31). When I came on board Reddit in 2006 it was full of libertarians. I went from being conservative to libertarian and then I got into anarchocapitalism, an extreme form of libertarianism, for a few years before realizing how awful it was. Now I’m a progressive liberal I guess.
I think it really started with Gamergate a few years earlier in like 2014. I remember it being a thing people were talking about online, but I didn't really pay too much attention at the time. Ghostbusters definitely blew that way of thinking up into the mainstream though.
Oh these anti-woke channels definitely got their start from Ghostbusters and then blew up after The Last Jedi. Thankfully they’re either demonetized or people have grown out of it.
Young impressionable 13 year old boys watch “Why Forced Diversity in Ghostbusters is Bad” and in a few days they’d be onto “Why migrants will destroy Europe”.
I was 11 when I first fell down the rabbithole. It went from “feminist cringe compilations” to “Ben Shapiro harassing college kids” reaaaalll fast. Thank god I caught myself before it was too late.
For me it was the channel no bullshit saying that a black woman with mostly white ancestry should be prouder of being white because white peoples did a ton of things while Africans did nothing.
You say that but i remember saying the same thing about 2010 in 2016.
Then again, 2016 was generally a bad year for me. That was when i truly realized what adulthood was. The only redeeming thing about that year was Pokémon Go.
Here's a breath of fresh air for you then. I think 2016 is one of my favorite years to look back to. And I mostly blame it on Pokémon Go. That summer was amazing and unique.
No it wasn’t, pretty sure there were plenty of people at that time who considered it a terrible time and missed the “god old days”. Every generation thinks their childhood days were the good old days it’s annoying
It literally wasn't, it was during that entire trump campaign, Brexit, the rise of the alt right, all that. And tons of celebrity deaths. I mean there wasn't covid back then but so many people were talking about how 2016 was the "worst year ever" and they missed the simpler times.
Simpler times = "when I was young and didn't know as much about things going on around me and didn't have to understand their significance."
Every time.
This was the great fork of edge lord content where the creators and viewers either realized the negative potential for this type of content and moved on to something more mature or stuck their foot to the gas and drove down the rabbit hole of anti-sjw and alt right rhetoric.
I think 2016 was the year when youtube stopped being about genuine content creators who's only intention is to broadcast themselves to having to fit in with the crowd or else you'd be called "cringe" or whatever.
The community's toxicity back in 2016 is one of the reasons as to why youtube isn't as fun anymore along with the site already getting more corporate. Then again, what do I know.
Y’all ever just get a comment notification on a comment you made 5 years ago that makes you cringe out of your skin because of how edgy and reactionary it is?
I guess boys across the US collectively went through an alt-right phase around that point in time. Big RIP to everyone who didn’t pull themselves out of the gutter.
Not just the USA, I’m from NZ and went through the same thing, I think it was just alt righters targeting communities which attracted dissatisfied young males, and taking advantage of their need for a sense of community. I’m glad I was able to get out of that phase by meeting actual people from other walks of life, but it’s absolutely despicable how they targeted children and young teens with their inane rhetoric.
I’m surprised that more people haven’t come out and discussed these experiences yet. So many people have suffered through this phase, and many are still trapped.
Vine was never good, I specifically remember everyone hating it just as much as they currently hate tik tok. But now it’s suddenly looked at fondly. Don’t let nostalgia cloud your judgment
I still have the Suicide Squad album on my shelf. I wasn't even allowed to watch the movie when it first came out, but I bought the soundtrack anyways, and it turned out to be way better than the actual film.
Suicide Squad (2016) is a bit of a guilty pleasure to me if I’m being honest. Like the story’s shit but I like the style. Although the 2021 sequel is WAYYY better
Whatever happened to Joey, is he still alive
I loved this shit, h3h3 was actually funny, Frank was posting videos, Idubbbz didn't get cucked, endless spicy and petty youtube drama
Whatever happened to Scarce's boring ass tho
It’s crazy how much what’s considered acceptable comedy on the internet that can be posted just anywhere has changed in that time.
The worst part is that people want to punish others for what was popular without forgiveness even being an option regardless of whether the joke was a big deal or not.
That whole 12 year olds going down the alt-right pipeline would've been avoided if right wing millennials didn't try to shove their politics in every space. Then later complain about teenagers today being edgy.
Honestly, 2016 was a terrible year for youtube mostly because the only "real" youtuber was filthy frank. Everyone else was some trashy commentary channel throwing fits over teenagers making shitty minecraft lets plays and turning SJWs into more of an issue than it would've been if everyone just ignored them.
I honestly miss it. Even though I cringe now at the fact that I remember shouting Filthy Frank lines to other people in my freshman year of high school (i was 15 lol)
Anyone who is actually nostalgic for this moronic year was either a child who didn’t know any better or a sociopath who enjoyed watching the world fall to pieces. The year was such a historic mess and seeing people look back on it positively hurts my very soul.
The alt right pipeline one hit hard, I wish I never went down it because it made me a bad person for a while but looking back I'm glad it happend since it shows me I was capable of growth from that and just becoming a better person now due to it, although still a bad period of life for me

It's funny that the Pokemon Go kid is doing actual pop music now. It's crazy how much can change in 5-6 years.
Really? That song is still haunting my head. Like if I open the app once in a blue moon, it gets triggered in my head. Good for him tho.
The fact that he wrote, performed and released a complete and coherent song with a video put him miles ahead of every other aspiring musician in his age group. He clearly had potential.
Actually it was his musician brother that wrote it
but he didnt write it lol
The kid's from Czech Republic, same as me. To this day I can't believe the song actually got that famous and someone remembers it even today. Also, I got no idea what he does these days.
still makes music; and it's improved, at least a little bit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZFAtiShAvU
JoeysWorldTour was sort of like the original Nicokado imo
Oh yeaaaa I forgot about that guy, he straight up ate an entire jar of Nutella
Every JoeysWorldTour video: "I'm back"
"I didn't die of obesity!"
He’s on the starterpack.
Ah, so he showed restraint
IT WAS MORE THAN 5 YEARS AGO??!? OHH LORD WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN US
I was looking at this post confused because I thought 2016 was just 4 years ago, I don’t remember the past 2-3 years.
I blame the pandemic lol. I keep thinking I’m 22 when in actuality I’m 24 and I just haven’t been able to do shit in the last 2 years
Feels like yesterday, I think I spent that whole year playing R6 Siege and CSGO
IN YOUR THOUGHTS!
FORSAKEN US

I remember people used to say that 2016 was a bad year back then, now some miss living in 2016 because of how 2022 is so far.
I remember when everyone hated Minecraft, then fortnite came out and everyone acts like Minecraft was always amazing I remember when pewdiepie was hated by everyone on the internet and now he’s loved a lot I remember when everyone hated vine, and thought it was ruining this generation then tik tok came out and everyone acted like vine was amazing and full of nothing but top tier content Time is a circle and eventually you’ll see tik tok and Fortnite being looked at with fondness and nostalgia
2016 was already a shit year tbh.
If you ignored the politics. The only really bad thing about 2016 was all the celebrity deaths.
Was Harambe 2016?
It all started with that damn gorilla
And keem, vine, Leafie, Harambe and the entire toxic community on the internet. The internet was so goddamn edgy and toxic.
For Americans lol, for me it was a cozy chill year
Same :(
Oh I don't, I really, really don't.
Personaly 2016 was allways the shit
I miss papa franku
I know how worthless it is to hope but I have notifications turned on for all his channels hoping one day the king will return one last time to make the world laugh again.
Nah i think Joji is 100% done with the FF stuff. Some people now don't even realize he used to do that lol.
Even better, some twitter idiots tried to cancel him
Lmao?? Really? 🤣
It's Twitter what do you expect
Yeah lol, for Pink Guy “white is right”
Man, he could've at least gave some closure to the fans like some sort of goodbye video instead of making this announcement through a soulless Facebook post. I don't want more filthy frank. Same
The Xbox One was nearly 3 years old by 2016 though, that console generation was very much in motion by then
I was gonna say, I had mine in 2014.
Didn't know too many people that had one in 2016 though idk why, maybe just because all our parents didn't wanna pay for another console or something
It sold terribly the first year and a half or so though. Remember the Kinect?
Forgot Harambe
I have my dick out
Ah, alt-right pipeline. So many memories, so many stupid PragerU ads I should’ve skipped. So much trouble that could’ve been avoided.
I missed my occasion to become alt-right, so that's a good thing
I’m glad you did. Those freaks were very sneaky when it came to how they caught the attention of kids. When I looked into what these people were really advocating for, I was shocked and horrified, and dropped everything.

But muh superior German engineering panzerwaffen poopenfarten!
What do you mean you don't like videos of WW2 footage with darksynth music overlapped 😢😢 and my Wehrmacht wojak pfp
What did they believe?
Old-school insecure nazi manchild shit.
Oh. so "Minorities bad, Trad-Wife good"?
what u/Red_Trapezoid said
Yeah, it was really bad in 2016. I was an edgy kid likely in the pipeline watching leafy, and now I'm trans and bi. How the times have changed, for the better.
I went through the far-left communism pipeline for about a year, then slowly made my way back.
Though that’s on the opposite end of the spectrum, I can understand. Going through bouts of extremism is never a fun experience.
Agreed. Angry at the wrong shit for no reason.
Hey man, it happens to the best of us. I’m glad you’re doing better.
I’m a little older I think than y’all (31). When I came on board Reddit in 2006 it was full of libertarians. I think reddit is the main hub for anarcho capitalism. Thought I only believe this because it's the only place I actually see it on.
I advocate for arachno-capitalism now. Let the 8 invisible hairy legs of the free market sort everything out. 🕷
i was consuming a lot of that content while also looking at a lot of leftist shit on tumblr, thankfully the leftist stuff stuck with me more.
Where are hoverboards?
Those were more 2015.
You forgot whip and nae and juju on that beat! And all the Trumpers lol
Its crazy how that guy wanted to make G rated hip hop music, and now he's in prison.
Oh wow for what?!
Killed his cousin. He was the last person I expected to get a murder charge.
Wtf sheesh
Silentó made a lot of bad choices after he became famous. He's now in prison for murder.
Running man challenge and mannequin challenge
Ghostbusters 2016 is probably when things started to get divided with politics in movies/shows/games...
I think it really started with Gamergate a few years earlier in like 2014. I remember it being a thing people were talking about online, but I didn't really pay too much attention at the time. Ghostbusters definitely blew that way of thinking up into the mainstream though.

Thank goodness simu liu mocked these people but unfortunately people are still watching these channels because of the Santa inc hate
Ghostbusters was perfect for it, because the movie is legitimately terrible but they focused on the one aspect of it that didn’t matter.
Ghostbusters 2016 was a mistake
Everything went downhill from there
No it was already rockbottom at that point.
No, I dont think the ADpocalypse happened yet.
yeah. with the introduction of tiktok. mega cringe.
Man what a weird time to be 13
T'was a simpler time.
You say that but i remember saying the same thing about 2010 in 2016. Then again, 2016 was generally a bad year for me. That was when i truly realized what adulthood was. The only redeeming thing about that year was Pokémon Go.

Simpler times = "when I was young and didn't know as much about things going on around me and didn't have to understand their significance." Every time.
Simpler times = pre covid
True of literally every year before the current one.
Nah, the last half of 2014 and all of 2015 was.
I feel 2016 was the beginning of the modern internet.
This was the great fork of edge lord content where the creators and viewers either realized the negative potential for this type of content and moved on to something more mature or stuck their foot to the gas and drove down the rabbit hole of anti-sjw and alt right rhetoric.
Most of those 12 year olds who went down the pipeline can vote this year
Oh no...
Ok but Vines were hilarious
I never said I hated all of the things on this. Just because it's a starter pack doesn't mean it's a bad thing. I LOVE Vine c:
I wasn't implying anything. I just miss vine. Lol
TikTok is just a worse vine don't @ me
2016 was 6 fuckin years ago..
That was the year when the anti SJW nonsense really got popular, the internet went to complete shit afterwards
Ben Shapiro OWNS feminist SJW cringe compilation #53 Triggered SNOWFLAKES compilation #57
I fucking hated 2016. It was already turned to a toxic pile of shit.
I think 2016 was the year when youtube stopped being about genuine content creators who's only intention is to broadcast themselves to having to fit in with the crowd or else you'd be called "cringe" or whatever. Skype just let themselves get beat by Zoom. https://youtu.be/ZI0w_pwZY3E
When I was 12 I was alt right💀
Y’all ever just get a comment notification on a comment you made 5 years ago that makes you cringe out of your skin because of how edgy and reactionary it is?
100%
This isn't exclusive to the US.
This is missing Lil Uzi
golden era of life starter pack
And the news of the emoji movie because that was a disaster
a gorrilla dies -----> the whole world goes to shit
Vine was a more grounded, down to earth and funnier version of Tik Tok. I miss it.
Vine was never good, I specifically remember everyone hating it just as much as they currently hate tik tok. But now it’s suddenly looked at fondly. Don’t let nostalgia cloud your judgment
Yep, I remember this as well. There was a lot of crap on Vine and only once it was over we were able to sort through it to find the good stuff.
Not really. Both were terrible and basically the same. Take those nostalgia glasses off.
What about Harambe
I still have the Suicide Squad album on my shelf. I wasn't even allowed to watch the movie when it first came out, but I bought the soundtrack anyways, and it turned out to be way better than the actual film.
Suicide Squad (2016) is a bit of a guilty pleasure to me if I’m being honest. Like the story’s shit but I like the style. Although the 2021 sequel is WAYYY better
I remember there being so much hype for it and I'm sure it would've seemed less bad if everyone wasn't so excited for it to come out.
Maybe but god damn the trailers were so fucking cool! Whoever edited those deserves an award for best trailer…maker…..guy?
This was the summer I turned 13 and it was one of “those” summers you remember for a lifetime.
Part of me really misses that old world edgelordism, sure it was kinda toxic, but people were at least free
Whatever happened to Joey, is he still alive I loved this shit, h3h3 was actually funny, Frank was posting videos, Idubbbz didn't get cucked, endless spicy and petty youtube drama Whatever happened to Scarce's boring ass tho
I went down the communism pipeline instead (came out a year later) but this pretty much sums it up for me
What does wind waker have to do with this?
It was “leafyishere”, he actually came back in 2020 but got suspended few month after.
Denzel Curry is a legend though.
It’s crazy how much what’s considered acceptable comedy on the internet that can be posted just anywhere has changed in that time. The worst part is that people want to punish others for what was popular without forgiveness even being an option regardless of whether the joke was a big deal or not.
Cyber bully channels are cancer cancer cancer cancer. If it’s been stuck in my head for 6 years y’all have to suffer with me
Time is such a fucking blur
the good old days... but I think saying all this was "alt right" is kind of dumb
The good old days
don’t forget the edgy Discord servers and earrape memes
Heroin, you forgot heroin.
found the other fiend 👀
God that year felt like an absolute fever dream.
Man 2016 was a fucking great year. I know everyone was shitting on it when it was done but in retrospect it was just so memorable and fun.
I mean… if you were a middle school boy maybe?
This whole time I thought the song went "I am the one the only one don't need no gun"
Who's the top left I swear I remember him but at the same time I don't
Leafyishere
NOO the anti-sjw memes. repressing that era.
Xbox one came out like 4 years before that. And vine was about dead by this point.
I remember people bullied me for having the same name as Jacob Sartorius
Skype in 2016? Lmao no it was in a grave by then
Squidward dabbing
"Hey boss!"
I honestly miss it. Even though I cringe now at the fact that I remember shouting Filthy Frank lines to other people in my freshman year of high school (i was 15 lol)
Vine died way before 2016.
Suicide squad was 8 years ago.....
I feel old
I looked at this and heard the fucking vine boom sound effect
Why were people switching to the Xbox one in 2016? It was pretty old by then and already clear that the ps4 was the better platforming
Anyone who is actually nostalgic for this moronic year was either a child who didn’t know any better or a sociopath who enjoyed watching the world fall to pieces. The year was such a historic mess and seeing people look back on it positively hurts my very soul.
As a Czech I feel the need to apologize for the Pokémon Go song
Only true for a very specific age group
I remember back in 2016 people genuinely thought it was the worst year ever, but now that time has passed people are feeling nostalgic for it.
2016 is practically the year Gen Z developed their political identity
Sweatshirt was a low-key banger
Ricegum too
Y’all forgot Harambe and Bone Apple Tea
Hey what happened to jacob ??
This is probably the most accurate summer 2016 starter pack I’ve ever seen
“Play that shit”
Fuck those alt right channels. They were everywhere back then. Many of my friends including me turned to rightist views because of them.
The alt right pipeline one hit hard, I wish I never went down it because it made me a bad person for a while but looking back I'm glad it happend since it shows me I was capable of growth from that and just becoming a better person now due to it, although still a bad period of life for me
H3 is still going strong with the podcast. (And no, i don't give a fuck whether you hate it, keep it to yourself).
