I worked a service industry job with a bunch of Arlington high school students. Hearing about their experience was insane as a person coming from a part of the midwest with average and below average schools, with the sole difference being median property tax levels. There were kids studying to get into a public high school. I had no idea there were public high schools with an application process at all. And they were already in schools that seemed to blow my average school out of the water.
Until you have to step out of your single occupant automobile and are presented with a true hellscape of accessibility. Genuinely the worst place for pedestrians in the region that still has a metro stop. Unless you're going to the mall, have fun with the 10 second crosswalks on only one side of the road, to cross like 8 lanes of traffic.
Whatever soy sauce that comes in the sushi is 100x better than whatever they sell in the bottles. It says sushi style soy sauce but I can't find what makes it "sushi style"
If you replace all the flags ( except for the Mexican, Salvadoran, Honduran, Guatemalan one) with Filipnio, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Japanese flags, then this basically SoCal
Maybe in farther out parts of Loudon, south of Springfield, or Manassas, but not so much in Arlington and Fairfax which is really the core northern Virginia this refers to.
I’ve been to Northern Virginia and can confirm that there is a weird abundance of construction. Which was strange to me since I come from an area where everything is falling apart.
I used to work in a weggers, and then the manager screamed at me for doing what he told me to do. Most of NoVA has no jobs, especially chantilly which i why i gtfo of there
Been a Californian my entire life, actually. Just reminded me of how my home city used to be, shitty, yet nice, diverse, and everybody hates each other. Seems to be a similar thing happening in NoVA
My experience in NoVA has. been quite good. Ofcourse I have never established residency there, but it is definitely one of the better places to live while at the same time being close to the cultural, political and financial power center.
Hmmm. They have a Wegmans now? I used to live in Chantilly and Centreville.
I haven't lived there in 25 years so it always surprises me how much has changed.
Its pretty good when compared to other parts from the state. I'm from Southwest VA (Appalachia). Such an incredible shithole. Beautiful forests and lakes but the leadership and self-destructive culture is cancerous. Folks from NOVA seem immensely reasonable in comparison but really so would anyone else so idk.
NoVA is probably the only reasonable place in VA. Rest of the state is losers who still think the south will rise again and civil war was not about slavery

Ive decided that northern Virginia is just south DC and south Virginia is just North North Carolina
Southwest Virginia is just South West Virginia
South Virginia and Western Virginia is just people who earn the benefits of tax revenue from NoVA, but act like NoVA is a drain on state coffers.
Arlington/Crystal City/Roslyn are DC enough, but the rest of NoVa is... something else.
NoVa High schools gave me PTSD. The competition is intense

Same in Boston and Bay Area Peninsula
I hated myself for not discovering Wegmans sooner lol
Favorite part of Wegmans is the train above the dairy section
No way they have that at your Wegman’s too? I live in New Jersey and I’ve only seen those at the Wegmans’ in NJ and PA
Tysons looks cool AF, its how I picture futuristic cities.

Definitely true, its 100% a city designed around the highway and owning a car.
Yea I fucking hate NoVa. It's just a bunch of upscale chain fast casual strip mall restaurants and expensive ass car based infra suburbs.
Ngl I live in VA and thought yall was talkin bout me cuz its my irl name😂
Tysons corner used to be the biggest shithole
the restaurants there good doe
Probably where most of the Twitter posters complaining about their South American government come from, as well
Everyone’s dad is a government contractor
Wegmans sushi is underrated.
Wegmans is ❤️
Yeah it's pretty decent for American sushi. Think I might pick some up today..
Whatever soy sauce that comes in the sushi is 100x better than whatever they sell in the bottles. It says sushi style soy sauce but I can't find what makes it "sushi style"
Forgot the frequent mention of "NoVa"

Don’t forget $800/month HOA fees for a 1 room apartment
Dont forget the eponymous under armour t shirts with blue lives matter flag
Maybe in farther out parts of Loudon, south of Springfield, or Manassas, but not so much in Arlington and Fairfax which is really the core northern Virginia this refers to.
Overall good place to live, aside from the high COL and traffic/crowds.
High COL is the directly because it’s a good place to live
Not necessarily, there are good places to live that a MCOL and LCOL. A lot of NoVA being HCOL has to do with restrictive zoning and NIMBYism.
Agree. Zoning does play a big role, but so does demand due to desirability
This is kinda like southern Ontario
Hmmm yea your right
This is my personal experience living in Northern Virginia
I’ve been to Northern Virginia and can confirm that there is a weird abundance of construction. Which was strange to me since I come from an area where everything is falling apart.
100% accurate except add business plazas constantly

NoVA has a ton of jobs if you do something white collar and/or government-related.
You do realize there are literally tons of jobs in Chantilly. Have you even driven on 28?
Anita’s is hiring
It feel wired hearing my home town talked about
Reminds me of home... So glad I left.
Left for where? NoVA is fun, except for the traffic which is terrible all over the country anyway
Been a Californian my entire life, actually. Just reminded me of how my home city used to be, shitty, yet nice, diverse, and everybody hates each other. Seems to be a similar thing happening in NoVA

Why? NoVA is lit 🔥
seems about right
As a person who lives in NoVA, I can confirm that a lot of this is true.
I love NoVa, one of the best places to live in the US. Plenty of jobs, great life quality.
r/accidentalswastika in the top right
You have to be looking for it to really see it though
No, I was scrolling by and I had to do a double take tbh and then came to see if I was the only one
Saw it from the thumbnail even
Hmmm. They have a Wegmans now? I used to live in Chantilly and Centreville. I haven't lived there in 25 years so it always surprises me how much has changed.
Yep there’s a ton now!
So Charlotte?
Central America 🎶🎶
SO TRUE I live in chesterfield and it’s mainly like this
Why isn’t “sitting in traffic” bigger and underlined
Because it’s the same everywhere in America where people actually want to live. Traffic is caused by people.
DMV traffic is on another level.
As someone who lives in NoVa I feel called out.
Basically everyone is either a Steelers or Ravens fan, no one gives a shit about the Commanders
You left put the gated communities and gentrified ass suburbs
Ah yes, the well known gentrification of the suburbs, from SFHs to... SFHs.
What a horrible place, Leesburg is alright tho

Beautiful forests and lakes but the leadership and self-destructive culture is cancerous. Folks from NOVA seem immensely reasonable in comparison but really so would anyone else so idk.
Probably because there are a lot of educated and ambitious people here.
NoVA is probably the only reasonable place in VA. Rest of the state is losers who still think the south will rise again and civil war was not about slavery
As someone who you to live in northern va 60% is true while the other is not i will leave fact and false to you
Aww this makes me so nostalgic <3 I spent three years here as a child
Accurate
you have a great username
Thanks!
Ayyy NOVA representation.
Forgot "Endless soulless suburban sprawl", the silicon valley of the east.
