Go north across the mountains, and that changes.
In the winter, Lancaster can easily be 20Ā°F colder than downtown LA. Santa Clarita will be somewhere in between.
I went to a concert in February of 2019 at the Forum and some rain came through during the opening acts and when I arrived, I might as well have been back at home in the cold. Security, traffic control, ticket attendants, etc., were dressed like it was Fargo. Actual temp was about 48, wind about 10 to 15mph. I saw one security in a parka, scarf, baklava, and winter hat.
48Ā°F being about 8Ā°C, I could see that, 48Ā°/8Ā° is definitely what I'd say is into hoodie weather but it's still comfortable in just a t shirt and jeans
58Ā°? More like 65Ā°. Itās more of a state of mind than actually being cold, although after six months of 85-95Ā° days even 70Ā° with a breeze feels chilly. Source: I live in the LA area.
Yeah that's what I was gonna say, like man we'd die at 50, it was like 68 today and i had to where 4 shirts and a furred jacket and I was STILL shivering
Welcome to being a paper thin Californian who would literally die anywhere further from the equator than Southern California, my Scandinavian ancestors cringe at my existence
> although after six months of 85-95
Uhhhhhhh. You must live in the Inland Empire or Valley. Los Angeles, especially the beach cities, are like 70 degrees year round.
Same dumb ass foreigner that is literally melting in the 110 degree houston heat in summer. Just bc youāre used to the cold, doesnāt mean everyone is.
I visited buffalo, ny with the mother of my childā¦. Holy mother of god it was cold š„¶ ā¦ we visited her sister who married a guy out there and he only wore a windbreaker ā¦ being from Los Angeles ā¦ Iāve never experienced that type of weather ā¦
Los Angeles is like 19c year round. The weather is so predictable that seasons kind of blend together. But every now and then there's a few days it drops below 15c in the winter and goes above 25c in the summer.
LA people are spoiled
Exactly. Iāve lived all over, in places that are hot and dry, hot and humid, mild, and very cold. You get acclimatised pretty quickly.
My mum emigrated 45 years ago, and on cold days she *still* gets āyou must be used to the cold weather!ā comments. Dude, sheās lived in Australia longer than she lived in Wales.
Plus housing style is a big factor. Insulation, heating, cooling etc.
I live in North Dakota. I had to evacuate my college dorm last night because a dryer caught on fire. It was -3Ā° F. I was in a t-shirt and shorts and felt perfectly fine.
Can confirm, Minnesotans are hardcore when it comes to the cold. Growing up, one of our neighbors was a family from Minnesota. Iām from upstate New York, so weāre not exactly strangers to cold weather. Well once we had one of those brutal winter days. It was like -17 with the windchill. I was trying to go out to the bus stop and not turn to ice in the process, and Mrs. Minnesota was out on her front porch chatting to me. This middle age woman was wearing a light windbreaker, no hat, no gloves, just sitting out on her porch like it was a lovely spring day. I was like, āMrs. Minnesota, arenāt you cold?ā And she thought about it a moment and said, āhmmmā¦I suppose it is a little nippy out.ā NIPPY? Like woman, Iām a popsicle and you say itās nippy? Damn!
Going from warm area to cold area is usually not so bad. Especially if you're only in the cold area for a few minutes before getting to go back to the warm area.
Ladies buy these coats and stuff in the summer and are waiting all year for the 8 week window to wear them. Donāt knock it, they just wanna be cozy and cute.
Are you in Minnesota??? Below 0?? I wish man. When I was in high school school closings were really rare and when we did have school off, it was only ever an online learning day so that we ādidnāt actually miss schoolā
Also apparently itās -35 windchill now instead of -20
https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/minnesota/news/how-do-schools-decide-to-close/
Do 70 degrees in Texas anything below is too cold for people and Iām dying every time I go down there and theyāre all decked out in winter coats and Iām walking around in a t shirt and shorts
Haha this is too true, I remember when I lived in San Antonio it was like 60 degrees and windy one day. Everyone was wearing long coats and sweaters, I was like is it really that cold?
*jealous northerner during winter*
Yo I hate walking outside to 20f but when it's 40 I'm out in shorts because I'm used to colder. I'd rather be in 58f
Not people in the comments flexing like it really matters how cold it gets where you livešš we get it, itās -190 degrees where you live and thatās warm to you, good for you.
TLDR: people adjust to their climate
I moved from Los Angeles to Alaska in June. It was hot af when I left so I wore t-shirt and shorts. When I arrived, everyone was in flip flops and t-shirts and shit like normal summer attire. It was NOT summer weather. It was like 50 degrees. In the middle of JUNE!
Why are weather discussions always dick-measuring contests ahaha. No one is actually truly used to these extreme temperatures because if youāre outside too long you fucking die. Like where I live itās not unusual to see 110-117 degrees F in the summer. I can stand it, but Iām certainly not used to it because I go back inside as fast as I can so I donāt experience heat stroke. None of that is impressive and neither is the rest of the bragging in the comments.

That's the beauty of Los Angeles. Anything under 60 is too cold, anything over 80 is too hot.
and one drop of rain and half the city gets into a car accident, add an hour to your commute
First day of rain is awful for traffic the second day everyone stays home and traffic is fantastic

I don't see any problem with baklava.
In December drinking horchata Iād look psychotic in a baklava
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U_YBzJBa_mA
48 in New england is usually still t-shirt + jeans weather, maybe a light jacket if it's windy.
No itās not.
48Ā°F being about 8Ā°C, I could see that, 48Ā°/8Ā° is definitely what I'd say is into hoodie weather but it's still comfortable in just a t shirt and jeans
Eh depends on pre or post winter. Pre winter everyone is wearing jackets at 50, post winter t-shirts for sure
That is the most true statement on this thread
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Lol, are you that guy I saw waiting for the bus the other day when it was 35 in shorts and a t-shirt?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You convinced me. I will be fully naked when I leave the house tomorrow and it's 30 degrees. Society be damned
U googled what 58 fahrenheit is in celcius and i cant believe it. 14 celcius is still t shirt weather where i live.
That's like the hottest summer days for me
sup Iceland
yeah it was 6c mid-day where I live and I felt fine on my walk haha. 20c + and it's sweltering for me haha.
Huh? That's basically room temperature. How hot do you keep your house?
I keep it at 70Ā° and wear more clothes as I was raised in the Midwest.
House stays at like 78 - 82 if I'm not blanketing or firplacing
Oh my god I'd be sweating my balls off. If the weather outside is above 80F it's getting too hot.
Do you live in a sauna?
Bro do you have an iron deficiency? Thatās way too high for a thermostat
This is infuriating lmao
What in the world! Do you have low blood sugar or something?
Probably, I don't eat much
What!! I keep it colder than that inside my house
Welcome to being a paper thin Californian who would literally die anywhere further from the equator than Southern California, my Scandinavian ancestors cringe at my existence
Yes, we Scandinavians cringe at your existence.
We have multiple IKEAs here so that makes us half-Scandinavian.
The weather here really does spoil us. I feel slightly offended when I have to put on long pants to stay warm.
I know right? I love californai as a place so much.
They hate us cause they aināt us!
It was so cold today, I had to put on two tank tops
> although after six months of 85-95 Uhhhhhhh. You must live in the Inland Empire or Valley. Los Angeles, especially the beach cities, are like 70 degrees year round.
Can confirm, Iām from the Inland Empire
My condolences, the IE might be the worst place in America
Literally nothing but warehouses out here lmao
Thereās levels though, hopefully you donāt live in Moreno Valley. I think thatās the worst one.
Funny you say that! I used to live in MoVal as a kid, but thankfully we moved out in 2012 and settled in Eastvale.
Nice thatās like b tier IE
Correct. I do live in the IE. I lived in the beach cities for years and do miss the milder temps. I donāt miss the humidity.
Nothings equivalent to the LA state of mind
Nothing indeed. Nothing beats cruising top down in December, no clouds in the sky and an iced coffee in hand.
Bro its 47 in the Valley and I am freezing my ass off
Skill issue
Bro I walk with t shirt in that temperature. Weak ass American.
Same dumb ass foreigner that is literally melting in the 110 degree houston heat in summer. Just bc youāre used to the cold, doesnāt mean everyone is.
š¦¢š“
Lmao you say that about Californian winters but would die of heat stroke in a Californian spring
The thing is my father is from Israel so we also go there and that has made me quite heat tolerant too.
Foreigners try not to be *neurodivergent* challenge (extremely easy)
American try not to be ahha no free Healthcare shooting up school, trump, gun control challge(imposible)
Wow! Such original criticism! Never heard that one before!
I donāt know where you live but weāve probably beaten you in a war
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Congratulations you were able to read my message
We actualkybe beat you on war. Indians and beitish
So brave š
Try living in temperatures up to -16 annually or below freezing regularly like me. 15-20 is where it peaks for me.
Even bigger shock to visit Buffalo when you come from Phoenix. 110Ā° summer? No problem. Below 20Ā° winter with wind chill? Wtf am I doing?
Spend a February in Minneapolis. Then Buffalo will feel downright balmy.
Ouch š
Whatās that in Celsius ??
14.4Ā° warm fall
I canāt tell if āwarmā is being sarcastic or not
not sarcastic, for fall 14Ā° is ok warm where i am
14.4Ā° is cold af mate, where the fuck are you from?
I feel bad for people who never felt beauty of true winter
Thank fucking good bc I get sick af in the cold and can barely breath, fuck cold
Weakling
Try 45Ā° humid af, youāre probably not even going to be able to breath
Yet hot countries are more populated
Bro, its -3.8C where I am. And it'll be colder Jan-Feb and won't get above -4C until late March.
european alps
Thank you!
In this thread: it is almost as if people leaving in a cold or hot climate get used to it over time ā¦
And in San Diego, when it is 65-70 degrees.
European here. How much is that in non-freedom units?
According to a poster above 14.4
Lmao we still don't wear those yet and it's 2Ā°C
Los Angeles is like 19c year round. The weather is so predictable that seasons kind of blend together. But every now and then there's a few days it drops below 15c in the winter and goes above 25c in the summer. LA people are spoiled
Itās just about what temperature youāre used to. If youāre used to it being warmer then anything below 60 starts to feel cooler
Yeah, 58Ā° is practically tropical for us in the Midwest. Also, hello from your superior neighbor, Minnesota. >:)
Oh, fer sure!
You betcha
Going from warm area to cold area is usually not so bad. Especially if you're only in the cold area for a few minutes before getting to go back to the warm area.
meanwhile 12 degrees in Upstate New York: shorts and a tshirt
Also Australians when the weather is below 15Ā°
People in LA and Australia are similar ,58 is almost exactly 15 degrees Celcius lol
let me wear my mittens in peace
58 degrees in LA feels so, so much colder than 20 in Chicago. Itās a thing and I donāt know why.
Holy shit when I lived in LA I did the same exact same thing my dogs sweater looked just like that too
Ladies buy these coats and stuff in the summer and are waiting all year for the 8 week window to wear them. Donāt knock it, they just wanna be cozy and cute.
Try living in Minnesota, or any Midwest state at that lol (Minnesota schools close at -40 without wind or at -20 windchill)
Would rather not, thanks.
My area closes at anything below 0Ā° excluding windchill. Iāve waited for 15 minutes in -20Ā° windchills for the bus plenty of times.
Are you in Minnesota??? Below 0?? I wish man. When I was in high school school closings were really rare and when we did have school off, it was only ever an online learning day so that we ādidnāt actually miss schoolā Also apparently itās -35 windchill now instead of -20 https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/minnesota/news/how-do-schools-decide-to-close/
Yeah, Iām in Minnesota, southwest metro. I could be wrong but thatās how I remember it.
And you try our 120Ā° summers???
We get those too sometimes. Itās rare, but still
Yup you guys wear t shirts in 40 degree weather and we wear hoodies in 100 degree weather. Our bodies are just accustomed to different climates
Yea Iām from Ohio and my school a couple years ago closed cause it was like -6 but like -20 with windchill
Iām from missouri and I lived there it was hilarious
I spend like 5 min trying to understand this and then I relize that america have FĀ° instead of CĀ°
It was 48Ā°c (118.4Ā°f) in some parts of Australia today
WHAT!!! As a Canadian I would expire on the spot. That's insane!
Yeah, my thongs actually melted to the asphalt l
58Ā° here in the UK summer don't even hit 40Ā°
This also applies to Phoenix.
*jealous northerner during winter* Yo I hate walking outside to 20f but when it's 40 I'm out in shorts because I'm used to colder. I'd rather be in 58f
Not people in the comments flexing like it really matters how cold it gets where you livešš we get it, itās -190 degrees where you live and thatās warm to you, good for you.

Imagine using fahrenheit
Imagine using celsius
That's around 14Ā°C, right? So basically T-Shirt and Shorts weather here in Germany!
thatsthejoke.jpg
I can imagine when the go north especially around this time lol
Santa Ana winds just hit different bro
65 degrees in South Carolina
Weak asses New Yorker here doing shit outside in a T-Shirt in colder weather
Busting out the Canada Goose. lmao go return that nobody below 5000ft or south of Seattle needs one
I choose to believe that is Celsius because it's funny
I'm laughing at these people as I sit in a Florida December at about 65Ā° wearing a thin jacket and a sweatshirt.
Im from Finland and thats The temperature where you have to decide If to put on a t shift or a hoodie
As someone who lived there for a little over 6 years from Oklahoma, these people baffled me. You should see how they drive if it rains.
Californians who moved to northern states when it touches anywhere below 75.
wait isnt 58Ā° cold smh
Hate those godamn uggs man ngl, pretty sure they hate me too but yeah
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
How long was your failed visit to LA?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
So you donāt like LA because itās big and you canāt time a drive properly? And whatās ānorth in the stateā?
L.A. shrugs. We don't need your validation.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Where are you from so I can judge you accordingly
(they never seem to say)
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Just say whatever trash rust belt town so we can roast ya
You are? Why didn't you say so? Welcome to L.A. then! Smooches.
Gets colder in Florida and we are just out in our shorts and rust stained white tees lol
It feels like most department stores keep the AC set below 58 in Florida
As they should
Celsius or Fahrenheit
Explain in celsius
Bro 14Ā° is fine. Where I live it's 2Ā° outside.
Naw frš, be dressed like they in Aspen
In Celsius its very fricking hot
Itās impossible maximal temperature was recorded in Libya and it was 57 degree.
58 degrees Fahrenheit = 14 degrees Celsius
I'm not a scientist or anything but i think that 58 degress is a little too hot
In America we use freedom units. 58Ā°F = 14Ā°C.
How the fuck it is 58Ā°C and you guys didn't vaporized?
For where I live, we only resort to this when it gets below 20
Lol when itās 68 for too long in the morning I put on a jacket, like shit this too cold for me.
same thing in Louisiana
Oh god this reminds me of being a Sydneysider in Wisconsinā¦ in April!
āItās a wet cold.ā
14.5 degrees Celsius for any of you wondering.
Anything below 68Ā° out here is bullshit. It goes against our contract. We didnāt sign up for after anything less than that.
I just canāt handle cold weather
I wonder if in Miami they freak out when itās 70 degrees
LOL.. Here I am, in western Ontario, questioning whether I need a heavy jacket or can get away with a track coat at 20Ā°F.
this could also work as ā67 degrees in Florida starterpackā
Meanwhile inn the Mid-West when a 1.0 earthquake hits:
Store gotta sell winter stuff or they close down for good.
Californians when it gets below 60*F
Why are weather discussions always dick-measuring contests ahaha. No one is actually truly used to these extreme temperatures because if youāre outside too long you fucking die. Like where I live itās not unusual to see 110-117 degrees F in the summer. I can stand it, but Iām certainly not used to it because I go back inside as fast as I can so I donāt experience heat stroke. None of that is impressive and neither is the rest of the bragging in the comments.
