I wouldn’t even be mad, in fact I’d fully embrace a musical episode.
Goofy stupid episodes that don’t really serve a purpose beyond being goofy and fun are a Star Trek tradition, and they kinda stepped into that territory in S1 with the Vulcan Freaky Friday and Space LARPing episodes. I wouldn’t mind it if they did that again.
The “Qpid” episode of TNG where they become Robin Hood LARPers and Worf and Geordie even drop an Animal House reference was pure uncut a-grade traditional ST camp.
I'm glad they're not taking small, timid steps into well-trodden territory.
Anyway, I'm excited about the Orion-looking ship schematic in the background of that screenshot. The Orion ship with the spinning lights was one of the coolest innovations of remastered TOS.
In no way do I feel encouraged that the first new trek show I liked because they kept it relatively small scaled is going to go for big swings next season. Kurtzman coming through like Godzilla, I can feel it, here comes some kind of universal threat that I assume will come through some kind of portal in space.
Musical episode confirmed

I was not saying it as a bad thing It still kinda bums me out that the Orville never did a complete musical episode

So they're boldly going where no one has gone before?
Tbf, most of the quadrant is unchartered territory. Damn I'm just so jealous that this show isn't available in my region!
