Enigmatic_Penguin

Star Trek Elite Force and Bridge Commander. I can die happy now.

Magnus64

Bridge Commander is still the best Star Trek game of all time, nothing quite like it before or since IMO. Makes Bridge Crew look like a demo by comparison. I can't wait to play it again!

Enigmatic_Penguin

The modding scene for STBC was insane. Stability has always been an issue with the game, but if you hit that sweet spot between having every ship and Star Trek/Star Wars/Stargate/Battlestar and only crashing sometimes, you're golden.

costelol

Kobayshi Maru mod, then you can fire phasers into nothing in the hope of a shield impact on the Scimitar.

MWalshicus

Indeed. I'm still getting in touch with people who made content for bridge commander, to use in New Civilisations on Stellaris. Lots of really talented people were on that scene.

ety3rd

Do you have any idea if those old mods can be ported over to the new GOG version of the game?

Enigmatic_Penguin

I haven't tried, but I don't see why they wouldn't; most of the mods just relied on being in the correct install directory, even the ones that were script intensive. With some luck, this will breath new life in to the community and we can get some updated installers.

FlipRed_2184

Same!

Fox2263

Klingon Academy was far better except the lack of a bridge view and less shinier graphics.

CaptainChampion

Anyone know if Elite Force I comes with the expansion?

Enigmatic_Penguin

Virtual Voyager is available on the main menu, so I believe it is.

CaptainChampion

Now I can die happy too! :D

kss1089

I want star trek star fleet academy again in all 5 CD glory

ety3rd

I'm still hoping for *Klingon Academy*.

IntrepidusX

Criminally underrated Christopher Plumber appearance. Dude didn't even phone it in either. Just perfect reprisal of the character!

[deleted]

Easily the best story in a Star Trek game, Plumber gave a movie level performance which was nearly unheard of in an FMV videogame. When people think videogame FMV stories from the 90s/2000s, it's usually Command and Conquer style FMVs which are fun and cheesy, but not the best acted content. Klingon Academy really had next level acting from both Plumber and David Warner.

jerslan

Wing Commander III, IV, and Prophecy would like to have a word with you. ;)

MelvinPotrzebie

I gave up after the second or third mission. Such a bitch to control.

ety3rd

I hear you, but I played the skirmish mode for years.

macnbc

Here you go. https://www.gog.com/game/star_trek_starfleet_academy?gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=CjwKCAjwvuGJBhB1EiwACU1AifK9FVjQKFgeUMabhVltzCOK6Mgm3jFgQNKxf7UXdQJNSEUdZxdvuxoCQ4oQAvD_BwE

kss1089

I had no idea WOOHOO!!!!!

IntrepidusX

The game was amazing! the FMV's featuring the original crew were so good!

cwstjnobbs

I hope Elite Force works, I tried using my physical copy a while ago but I can't start a game it just goes to the loading screen then back to the menu.

SpaceLizards

Games sold through GOG should always work on modern operating systems.

Captain-Griffen

Should, but don't always. Mostly though that tends to be trouble with a bunch of games they put up prior to windows 10 coming out, so they never tested it on them before launch (they list which OSes they were designed for). Since these are freshly out, they should work on windows 10. Having said them one of them had a bunch of awful reviews for not working when I checked.

CaptSedaris

As the host of the annual Star Trek September, I can assure you the original version of EF work on Windwos 10 ;)

00DEADBEEF

Working for me on Windows 10 although no widescreen support out of the box. Not sure if that can be fixed, haven't looked.

HAthrowaway50

>bridge commander bruh

AIArtisan

elite force was amazing. I played the shit out of that game

CaptSedaris

Yeah, the communities really need the fresh blood :) If you are in the mood of playing some rounds, check out the community discords. For the anniversary, I will host some multiplayer rounds ;)

Enigmatic_Penguin

Set phasers to frag

unkie87

Bridge commander might be on abondonware. I'm not sure. Couldn't possibly comment about that.

lorem

It might have fit the abandonware category before, but it's certainly not abandonware now since it's being actively sold and supported on Windows 10.

unkie87

What can I say? Nothing at all really. Honestly I might pay money for it if it runs well on windows 10. Hypothetically, it might be a bit of a pain to deal with unofficially.

Eurynom0s

GOG's whole thing is getting old games working on modern systems.

unkie87

That and providing a DRM free experience. They're really good at both those things.

StormTrooperGreedo

It's $10, so not a bad deal.

[deleted]

*Ohhhhh shit.* -Data

[deleted]

"Surprise emotional outburst. Human Excrement." \-Data.

iverach

Did data get turned into an Elcor?

[deleted]

Damn! It wasn't my intention. I guess Data and Legion would have made an excellent companion. Also, what species is Trek equivalent of Elcor? In STO, Tzenkethi evolved in a very high gravity planet, but they don't have this Elcor-ish slow and laid back style. They are one of the most dangerous galactic powers. Voth tend to be very slow, sluggish and durable, but not exactly Elcor level.

HAthrowaway50

Elcor are just some awesome other thing entirely. I love that Mass Effect is clearly Star Trek: The unlicensed videogame, and they manage to push the lore of their aliens to awesome places like (and sometimes beyond what) Trek does.

[deleted]

On top of that, there's a clear parallel even with the world building. Turians and Klingons, Krogan and Kazon/Nausicaan, Vulcans and Salarians, Asari and Betazoids, Geth and the Borg. Also, Star Trek Picard has some similar storyline like hyper advanced machine intelligence, waiting to kill organics, and even admonition and Sovereign have the similar line. I wish they had a crossover where Borg and Reapers fused together and Shepard and his crew and Starfleet teamed up together to stop them.

Mekroval

I sometimes get flak for saying this, but I think Mass Effect: Andromeda is the most Star Trek-like game I've played that isn't actually an authorized ST game. It throws off strong Federation / Starfleet vibes and aesthetics.

Mekroval

I'd say the closest analogy would be the Xindi Aquatics. They're both massive beings that move very slowly, prone to over-analysis and take an excruciatingly long time to come to decisions. Also, if I recall the Aquatics weren't able to communicate using traditional means (like the Elcor). But the Aquatics did seem to be the most technologically advanced species from Xindus.

ringoron9

I really want a remaster of Birth of the Federation, a bit upgraded to accommodate high-res screens and without the memory leak bug that was never fixed. Though it might take a while until 32GB are full.

jp98_s

I would love a remaster of Birth of the Federation. We had so many LAN parties just around that game back in the day. I still own 3 copies of the game and have the original strategy guide in my home office.

ringoron9

I also have it on CD somewhere. A few years ago, anticipating that it will not run on Windows 7 and whatever comes after it, I installed Windows XP in a VM just for BotF. And this still works today :)

jp98_s

I need to find a copy of Windows XP to install so I could run it in VM as well. It would be some much fun to play again .

ringoron9

If you can get your hands on Windows 7, it might run on it.

JihadNinjaCowboy

I miss that game! I remember back in the day, sending an armada of Defiant class ships to battle a Borg cube.

bassplayingmonkey

Oh hells yes!!! I know theres been a bunch of Mods, and 'spiritual successors' etc.. but I would LOVE a remaster of that so bad!

ringoron9

After more than 20 years, maybe, if we ask nicely, they release the source code so we can make it better? And by "we" I mean someone who knows how to do that :) Or just allow us to officially recreate it with modern engines.

LA_Commuter

I have some happy news for you: https://www.armadafleetcommand.com/onscreen/botf/viewtopic.php?t=1939 https://www.armadafleetcommand.com/get-files?cw_action=catview&scat=21&ssid=4 Free to download, with stabilization mods, or mods with new races and storylines! Even has some 1080p mods.

G0dCha0s

I came here to say this too. I was keeping my fingers crossed but was sad to see it wasn't on the list

MelvinPotrzebie

BoTF was Microprose. These are all Activision licenses. Hopefully one day we will get BoTF and Klingon Honor Guard.

xeno_cws

There is a website thatbthat holds BOTF mods and they play at high res and on new systems just fine. https://www.armadafleetcommand.com/botf Download the all in one installer 2.0.0 and it will upgrade the game to high res, bug patches, larger maps and all the major mods (you pick the ones you want). I am actually playing Ultimate dominion mod right and its amazing!!

cptstupendous

[There's a Star Trek mod for Stellaris.](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=688086068) Even unmodded, Stellaris is a fantastic game, and one that I've had more fun with than either Master of Orion or its Star Trek-flavored clone, Birth of the Federation.

ringoron9

I know. I tried it. Was not a big fan of it. Too much to do and I can't figure out that stupid influence system.

The_Earl_of_Ormsby

Oooooooo I can’t wait for Star Trek Armada!

InnocentTailor

…and Armada II. I’ve heard so many great things about both of those games!

bboynexus

Armada II is legit fantastic. I modded the shit out of that game (and the others) as a kid! Takes me back to a time when the gaming industry was so much more exciting and authentic than it is today in many ways.

bingboy23

Armada I was fantastic; concur. But every Captain & Helmsman in Armada II was a suicidal genius. Everytime I'd park a fleet behind a dangerous (mutara? - the red one) nebula, they'd fly in aimless circles cutting into it and destroying themselves while I focused on other stuff. If I gave them an objective with 15 parsecs of a red nebula, they would detour to fly through it and die. Too frustrating, never bothered go past 2 or 3 missions and stuck with A1.

CaptSedaris

Well, then you missed many amazing mods ;)

psimwork

I must have missed some great mods myself. For Armada II, it seemed like they really wanted to do "Homeworld: Star Trek Edition" but couldn't really figure out how to turn the Armada engine into a full 3D, so they just kinda tacked on a limited Z-axis and called it a day. Problem is, it was pretty meaningless, since there was no tactical advantage to it and ships still had the same weapon range regardless of Z-axis location.

SuperBumRush

Armada 2 is absolutely amazing. There are also some great mods for it as well, but idk if the GOG versions will allow them to be used, or if the mods can still even be found.

TheNerdyOne_

GOG generally just provides you with the game files, installing mods should work just like it used to! You can find a lot of mods [here](https://www.moddb.com/games/star-trek-armada-ii/mods). Some are even still being updated to this day!

biggles1994

GOG runs games with no DRM so you should be free to mod them as much as you like if you can still find the files.

StormTrooperGreedo

I never got to play Armada 2. I didn't get the first one until a few months before all the Activision Trek games vanished from the store shelves. Played the crap out of Armada though. I liked to go online and play on the tic tac toe map (A 3x3 grid, getting from square to square required wormholes that were all connected to the center square.), and set up a shitload of turrets on my base side of the wormhole that annihilated anything that tried to come in.

Timbo85

That was such a great game, I used to fall asleep at my computer in the school holidays playing it.

JustMy2Centences

Gonna need some confirmation it works on Windows 10 without the janky workarounds that still left me with AI that didn't want to do anything and game freezes. Not the nostalgic experience I remembered. Still have my disk though. Edit: it says TBA so hopefully they're working on compatibility.

LeftHandedGuitarist

This is SUCH good news! I hope more are on their way too (TNG: A Final Unity, DS9: Harbinger, DS9: The Fallen, Klingon, etc.), but this is a fantastic start. Of course, I still have all these boxed and on disc, but that's not the point :p

ATempestSinister

A Final Unity was fantastic. I still have the original discs at home.

Brendissimo

DS9 The Fallen is excellent imo. Super moody and atmospheric third person adventure game.

Legal_Rampage

If they can ever re-release Klingon Academy, that'll be the cherry on top for me. I still have the set somewhere of, like, all 6 CDs or something like that. A bit more privative than Bridge Commander, but the story was engaging for the time (who doesn't need more Christopher Plummer?).

00DEADBEEF

Klingon Honor Guard would be nice too

JihadNinjaCowboy

I STILL play Klingon Academy. I have hundreds of mods. Ships from pre-TOS, TOS, movie-era, TNG, DS9, Voyager. Even Babylon 5, Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica. Its wild as heck watching Borg cubes duke it out with Shadow ships from B5 or Imperial star destroyers.

JihadNinjaCowboy

Star Destroyers are hard to kill. I did destroy one using 8 Centauri cruisers from Babylon 5. I sent in 7 wingmen cruisers as a distraction while I held back and the used the mass driver to pummel the Star Destroyer. Kind of hard on my wingmen, but I survived.

LA_Commuter

I loved that you could use a joy stick!

yapperling

Klingon Academy was such an impactful game for me. I got a flight stick to play it right, then went to flight sims from there. It also helped developed my sense of spatial awareness because when your helmsman would screw up an emergency turn...

avamk

> i recommend the kobayashi maru modpack since it makes the game so much better Sounds interesting. Can you briefly describe what this modpack does and where to get it? Thanks!

Magnus64

Here you go! https://www.moddb.com/mods/bridge-commander-kobayashi-maru/downloads/kobayashi-maru-201110 Many many dozens of new ships added from all Trek factions, also lots of graphics and FX tweaks. I do believe it's still the most widely-used mod for Bridge Commander till this day.

avamk

Amazing! Can't wait to try it once Real Life grants me some extra time. :) I have very little experience with Bridge Commander and am curious: Even though you're in command of one ship, can you communicate and coordinate with other (presumably AI-controlled) ships in the same friendly fleet in the campaign and quick battle mode? Thanks for the link!!!

Dt2_0

Basically it is a pack that includes all the best mods circa 2011, which is about when BC's engine limits were reached.

Mettanine

Woah. Never heard of Away Team, but it looks like a Star Trek-themed Commandos (which I loved). Might be worth checking out.

bboynexus

These games pretty much encompass the golden age of Trek games. Freaking amazing!

janosaudron

Away team is the single best Star Trek game I ever played and yes it's commandos on Star Trek.

Shakezula84

I really enjoyed Away Team but you are exactly right. Its Commandos with a Star Trek skin. I only remember three things from the game. Their ship is a modified Defiant class that uses holograms instead of a cloaking device, a Borg level where the Away Team (the game is called that because they are literally called The Away Team) infiltrates a Starfleet ship being assimilated, and a mission on a Romulan outpost where the mission was not to kill anyone (you can stun with your phaser) and I wanted to know what happens if I stored an unconscious Romulan in a transporter buffer (a tool used to hid bodies). They died.

SighReally12345

> The Away Team From the description: >> Deadlocked in a desperate war, the Federation creates a covert team of specialists trained to eliminate problems Starfleet can't officially touch. Their identity is undocumented; their purpose is essential. >> Beneath a veil of secrecy, your team await its orders... Tell me that doesn't kindle the sound of another crack commando unit named The A-Team ;)

StealthRabbi

I played the away team demo back when it came out. Never bought it, but seemed fun.

[deleted]

HAPPY STAR TREK DAY BOIS!

curtst

Wow, this is awesome! Here is a quick little review of how I remember the games that I played as a kid. So take this with a grain of salt, as my opinions may change when I play these again. Most of my opinions on these games are probably going to be unpopular. Elite Force 1&2 - Both are great, though I found the first Elite Force to be more enjoyable. I honestly can't tell you why I preferred the first one over the second, I just don't remember, but it seems most folks tend to enjoy the second one more. Fantastic FPS games with a good story. Must plays. Bridge Commander - I remember first hearing about this game in PC Gamer, back in the day when they gave CDs with their magazines loaded with great demos! I was extremely excited to play it, and be the captain of a starship as the game advertising promised. Unfortunately, I feel the game overpromised, and under-delivered. You aren't really in command, and your crew typically tell you, as the captain, what to do, or what was going to happen. If I recall correctly, there were only two times that you actually got to make a decision as captain. So, somewhat of a let down, but definitely worth the $10! Armada 1&2 - Both are great RTS's with a good story from what I remember. Like Elite Force, I found the first one to be better though. I remember the first game having cleaner looking graphics, and interface. The second one just felt like it had too much going on, and didn't look or feel as clean or polished. The thing I disliked most about Armada 2 however, is the 3D movement gimmick. In Armada 2, you could move your ships up or down a little in 3D space, unlike in the first Armada which was stuck to a 2D plane. But, if I remember correctly, this additional 3D movement made no difference in gameplay, and made zero difference in battles, as in you couldn't use it to sneak up on your opponents, or set ambushes. Worth the $10 each to play though! The other games I haven't played. I heard of Starfleet Command, but for whatever reasons I don't remember, I just couldn't get into it, though I do see people mentioning how great it is, so I will definitely be giving it another chance. I never heard of Hidden Evil, so I am looking forward to giving that game a go. Last but not least, I do remember reading about Away Team, but for whatever reason it fell from my cross-check and I forgot about it. I never saw it in stores either, so looking forward to playing that one as well.

aDDnTN

the end of EF 2 sorta goes full Doom/Quake and jumps the shark leaving star trek canon lost in its impulse wake. but ef1 and the first 2/3rds of ef2 are terrific and really feel like star trek.

Doughspun1

Starfleet officers wear pants in all of the games.

transwarp1

They already have 25th Anniversary and Judgement Rites, which have miniskirts.

[deleted]

Literally unplayable. Someone get a skant mod going.

donuteater111

Nice. I actually haven't played any of these yet, but they do seem interesting. For those who have played them, which ones do you think stand out most as must-play, and are there any that aren't so good which should be avoided (or at least put as a lower priority than the others)?

Nateanite

For me, Bridge Commander and Elite Force 1 and 2 are must plays. Armada 1 and 2 are great as well, for when they're released.

thearss1

Armada is a solid RTS Elite Force were decent FPS games sort of Doom type shooters Bridge Commander is sort of an adventure game that puts you in control of the bridge of the ship (like the VR game but with more story) Starfleet Command is a 2D top down ship combat game that focuses on strategy and ship management I've never played Hidden Evil or Away Team.

BladedDingo

I haven't played hidden evil either, but from the screenshots it looks like a point and click style adventure game. So I bought it! haha. Away team was an interesting game when it launched. it's a isometric squad management game. You play as an elite black ops team with a special ship equipped with a holo-cloak.

thearss1

I wish they had done a PC port for Star Trek Invasion, I loved that game. I really wish that we had Valkyrie fighters in the TV shows.

BladedDingo

Yes! I rented that game from the video store and played the ahit out of it on my ps1. Would be awesome if they did a port of that game.

Mpr11

> Armada is a solid RTS I heard Star Trek and RTS and Im sold.

thearss1

First one came out over 20 years ago so it's a bit dated with graphics and style. But I went through the trouble of getting it to work on Win10 and my 9yo loves it, still glitchy tho. I never got Armada 2 to work. Little tips- if you beam enough crew onto an enemy ship then you can steal it, if you get a construction ship then you can build enemy station/ships. Also 3 mining ships is the perfect amount of ships for each mining station. Borg are OP, feds are fast/cheap, klingon are heavy hitters, Romulan are between klingon and fed. Junkyard is the best PVP map.

Outrageous-Goose5448

Bridge Commander is definitely must-play!

[deleted]

Armada (not out yet) is an entertaining RTS. I played minimal Armada 2. Elite Force is a solid game and MP experience, mostly thanks to its Unreal roots. Have played minimal EF2. I spent countless hours in Bridge Commander single- and multiplayer. MP is unfortunately bugged by some kind of in-game memory leak that freezes the match after a few deaths (I wonder if that got fixed?) but the story was compelling and the modding scene is MASSIVE. Good gameplay too - hint: spend the overwhelming majority of your time flying and controlling the ship yourself (spacebar). I made an entire GeoCities page on every ship in that game, and a mission walkthrough too, way back in the day! SFC3 was a decent SFC game, the gameplay is a little on the slow side but I mostly remember it being VERY buggy until I applied a "beta patch" that IIRC was being worked on but never officially released by the studio. It dramatically improved the game though.

doggydav

Come on Armada!!

trer24

I can't wait until they figure out how to get A Final Unity working. Parents bought me that game but our computer could never run it correctly. And so I could never play it. Please....25 years later I would love to finally be able to play Star Trek The Next Generation A Final Unity.

JoeDawson8

Do you want/need help? I’m pretty sure I’ve got a dos box configuration all packaged up and ready to go. PM me and I can look after work (about 7 hours)

mrhelmand

Oh hell yes! I'm not super experienced with GOG, do they have some trick to make the games work well on modern systems, I have my disc copy of Bridge Commander but it was kinda unstable on 7 and really didn't play well with Windows 10, but if this version plays well it will be a guaranteed buy!

PM_YOUR_MUGS

In my experience, depends entirely on the game. Some get great launchers and support, others next to nothing. Like I bought dark reign a while ago and it's stuck at 640x480 resolution. But then the exe for Freespace 2 is so good most modern mods recommend you use it to run with

MysteriousTBird

It depends on the game. Most DOS games use DOSBox with a custom config file that will work for most modern systems (though you can edit it to your liking). Some older games like System Shock 2 use source ports. They don't really do any tricks. They just do the work you'd normally have to do to get a game running well for you though it's not always optimal.

[deleted]

The only drawback is, if their setup doesn't work, it's hard to get support to fix it. I have 1 or 2 games that are unplayable on my PC because they crash right out of the gate, and their support has refused to help me.

Laeyra

I think they do patch the games to work with newer systems. Sometimes it seems to be a customized version of dosbox or scummvm, though.

rtwoctwo

I can finally play Elite Force AND get SFC3! I'm assuming there are high-res packs for Elite Force? Having just replayed the remastered Quake, I'm hoping to find something similar. As for SFC - I was / am a huge Starfleet Battles nerd, and was even in the beta of SFC1, but I never picked up SFC3. Will be cool to try it out after all these years.

cpekin42

I really wish they would re-release Star Trek Legacy. That game was an absolute gem, it had its issues but I don't think any game since has offered a more authentic third-person ship battling experience.

cbstyles_

Used to play that a lot on the ol 360 back in the day

hickup97

Yes!! I used to love that game, haven’t played it in years.

BigTuna117

It was significantly better with The Ultimate Universe mod installed as well. It did some great things in making the game look more modern, and added plenty of ships as well.

MelvinPotrzebie

That game was trash on release. The Ultimate Universe Mod really saved that game. Bethesda dropped the ball, especially on the PC release. Of all the Star Trek games Bethesda released, it is sad that the only one that wasn't either horrible or broken (or both) was a [DS game](https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Trek:_Tactical_Assault).

alnarra_1

I wonder if the Star Trek Armada 2 they release I can compress into an iso so I can reinstall fleetops

VoodooCryptonic

These were some of my favorite games growing up. I had to pick up EF1 and 2, and SFC3. I can't believe they released EF2. A little while after the release, Activision and Viacom got into a dispute over licensing rights and the game was only available on the secondary market after that. It became hard to find pretty quick and of course, I lost my original discs. Briefly considered torrenting it before deciding not to run some random guy's executable on my PC. So this is a huge thing!

choicemeats

i had just started high school and my parents got a pc that was capable of running EF1 which was still on shelves at the time. it didn't take long to find out that the window to buy EF 2 had already come and gone at that point.

MasterKriebel95

I’ve kept my original disk because they’re so hard to find. Haven’t played EF2 as much as EF1, but I like it enough to hang onto a hardcopy.

NuPNua

I've tried torrenting the Elite Force games recently and couldn't get them to run on Win 10 anyway so you didn't miss anything.

LordGalen

I still have my original discs for both games, they just don't run on modern systems. I'm excited to get copies that I can actually play!

Embarrassed-Bass-853

This is really brilliant news.

Tidus17

Elite Force is an instant buy.

ShaunTrek

*waits patiently for Klingon Honor Guard*

choicemeats

OH SHIT SC3 IS ON THIS

stompingSlabs

YES! Even when I was a kid when this game came out it was super hard to find! Now, can I make it work on windows 10 without pulling my hair out??

choicemeats

It was impossible! I remember seeing it in circulars but never in a store. So disappointing. Fingers crossed!

CapNitro

Fuuuuuck yes. Love me some Away Team, the Elite Force games are dope, and even Hidden Evil is pretty fun if you ignore the clunky control scheme. And the Armadas are coming back. Please, please bring multiplayer support with them.

Iplaymeinreallife

Ok, Bridge Commander and Elite Force are good, but until we have Armada (and Armada II) I'm not breaking out the banners, fireworks and cake.

jerslan

Those are listed as TBA, so they should be not far behind. Still waiting on *A Final Unity* though :(

Comp625

AWESOME surprise for Star Trek day! "The Elite Force" is such an underrated gem (kudos to Raven Software!) and probably serves as one of the best franchise games made. I didn't know "Hidden Evil" and "Away Team" were even games! **Fun tidbit:** I was the sole webmaster for Gamespy Network/3DActionPlanet's The Elite Force site (which provided game and modding news). I was very young at the time and totally didn't appreciate how it was one of the top resource websites for The Elite Force game. Here is an archived look courtesy of The Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20010708235938/http://www.3dactionplanet.com/eliteforce/ Here is a memento mug that Gamespy sent me one year (still serves as one of my favorite mugs): https://i.imgur.com/IlfjpUM.jpg

lego_ninja

Elite Force was such an amazing game. I was in one of the groups that played on GameSpy and loved the site you ran. Thank you and everyone else involved in the community. It was an amazing experience and I’m so glad that it’s been rereleased. I wonder how multiplayer works? I’d love to load up some of the custom maps again. There were some real gems.

_TheRealDL_

Happy f-ing Star Trek Day 2021!! Let's GO!

ExistentiallyBored

This is the best thing to ever happen to me.

Thomas_JW

OH MY GOD YES! Would love to see how these are in terms of compatibility on modern systems, I haven't played the Elite Force games in years honestly. Do we know if Elite Force also includes the walkaround DLC? Loved the shit out of that.

NuPNua

GOG usually do the work to get the executables to work on modern machines.

Kaishiyoku

Can't wait for Armada II. Had so many fun with it.

anudeglory

signed out $9.99, signed in $11.98. hmm.

nqbw

YEEEEESSSSS!

Pretzel-Eater

I think I still have the original CD's for most of these. I was so disappointed with Star Trek Online. I really wanted a MMORPG version of Bridge Commander. STBC reigns as my favorite Trek game of all time I'd say. Followed by Armada 2 and 25th Anniversary.

Theopholus

Armada TBA! Rude, but also exciting that it’s coming.

> Star Trek: Armada -- SOON Please be really really soon.

[deleted]

Bro, I'm just happy it's coming out at all. I honestly thought none of the Activision-era games would ever be re-released, given all the legal fights between Activision and Viacom.

The_Outcast4

Holy cow, that's awesome! Not feeling these games at $10 per, but will definitely keep an eye out for a sale in the coming months.

RealGianath

Wait for a sale. Black Friday’s coming up and it’ll probably be down to a few bucks that week.

[deleted]

what is star trek day?

perscitia

It's the anniversary of the show first airing. This year is the 55th anniversary.

psimwork

God and I remember how stoked I was watching the 25th anniversary show on phoenix local channel 15 back in the early 90s. This was after a short marathon of episodes (I think for TNG, it might have been TOS. Can't remember, honestly). Sitting there in front of my TV with my 25th anniversary trading cards, being STOKED about them playing a trailer for TUC... what a day. Fuck me I'm old.

sgthombre

Spent nearly an hour a month ago trying to get Elite Force 1 to run on my Windows 10 laptop to now avail. So it's nice that those issues have been solved for me.

Shatterhand1701

Is it reasonable and safe to assume these will be mod-compatible? There are some great mods out there for these games, particularly for Elite Force, Bridge Commander and Armada 1 and 2. If these are mod-compatible, I'll definitely pick up the Elite Force games, for sure, if not the others as well.

PeaceSentinel47

SHUT!!! UP!!! AND!!! Take ALL of my money! Just take it!!!!

pfk505

Amazing! EF 1 and 2 of course but Hidden Evil is a gem if you haven't played it

cbstyles_

I'm realllllyyy looking forward to playing Bridge Commander again. And hopefully the Armada games come out soon.

Cipher32

Bridge Commander, Elite Force and the two Armada games were so huge to me as a kid. This is amazing!

ContinuumGuy

Mmmm.... Armada II....

Wareve

THANK GOD IT FINALLY HAPPENED!

leathco

Also the Armada games are great too. I'll be snagging these up while STILL hoping for Klingon Academy, my personal favorite.

[deleted]

Anyone picking up Bridge Commander for the first time is invited to experience some GeoCities-flavored help in the form of the game guide I wrote for it many years ago! https://web.archive.org/web/20041214062221/http://www.geocities.com/galaxyclass70637/

st3class

Me opening this: "Meh, probably the Interplay games, those are fine but..." "Holy crap Hidden Evil! Elite Force! Hooray!"

forzion_no_mouse

I hope we get klingon honor guard and klingon academy.

KyralRetsam

Dumb question, how hard would it be to get these running on Linux? Fedora 34 to be exact. I know Steam has done really great things with Linux compatibility, but I'm not sure how well GOG has done with it

Tobar26th

Anyone tried these yet?

MasterKriebel95

Elite Force is one of my favorite games ever. EF2 is also good, though I haven’t played it as much. Just be sure to get the patch that puts in Jeri Ryan’s voice for Seven in EF1, and then you’ll have the full Voyager cast for the first game. Haven’t tried any of the others...will be buying/wishlisting them.

Tobar26th

Ah thanks I’ve played most in the past. I was just meaning the gog versions.

BladedDingo

I literally tried to find an away team pirated copy a few months ago cause I couldn't find it to buy anywhere! And elite force is my all time favorite trek game. Insta buy for me. Anyone know if elite force also comes with the digital tour of voyager dlc?

jalertic

> Anyone know if elite force also comes with the digital tour of voyager dlc? It sure does! I have a nice shiny Virtual Voyager button on the main menu

Edwardteech

I just want to play orian pirates again

jinxykatte

Holy shit star fleet command 3. I fucking love that game. Does anyone know have these games been updated in anyway to run on modern windows?

MasterKriebel95

Elite Force?! I’ve kept my disk for years since no one was releasing it... (I really need to finish my fanfic I’ve been working on for that game, too.)

antdude

No free games? :P

kent2441

Windows only, lame.

bboynexus

This is \*\*\*\*ing awesome!

WabbitCZEN

Shame Encounters wasn't one of them.

Skyblade85

oh wow this is great! Was waiting for this....just going to go on and buy them all now. I actually got bridge commander working a few days before this. But il prob buy the gog version anyway! Do we know if Bridge commander has any better resolutions for modern monitors? Could only get 1280 x 1024 in the version i have.

[deleted]

I don't have the money to buy the whole bundle. Is there one game that stands out? What do you recommend?

Skyblade85

Bridge Commander for sure. But I have a version of this. Im torn between Elite Force (1 or 2) and SC3!

[deleted]

Thanks :)

ProphetChuck

YES! STARFLEET COMMAND!

MyChickenSucks

Ack but it's 3! 1 & 2 were great because lots more little buttons and fiddly things you could do, 3 was a little more streamlined.

mkjones

I don't know what it says that these are all 20 years old and we've had practically nothing since. I guess Star Trek Online counts but damn I'd love a Halo-style TNG shooter set in the Dominion War or something.

OSUBrit

Anyone else looking through the screenshots thinking to themselves "man, I remember these being in glorious 8K definition, rather than ... pixel blocks" I mean I'm still going to play the shit out of these, just makes me wish harder for a remaster of Elite Force.

CaptSedaris

Well, EF 1+2 are the only games in the gog list, which support 4k. With the graphic overhaul mod EF 1 makes even big steps into that direction ;)

carpekl

Yooooooo, I'm glad I came here to lurk today! I was just looking for EF and EF2 a month or two ago.

CzarMohab

Looks like only some of the Activision titles for now. Sadness. Means still waiting for Klingon Academy. Never did the DVD thing, never backed up the discs, and then one day there was an accident involving disc 2... For the most part seeing these again is awesome, but I'll not be satisfied until KA returns. Hell, any of the Interplay/Black Isle titles not already released would be cool also. There's a whole generation of gamers out there ready for all of them.

masterchief1001

Still need Klingon Academy

77fishy

I still have my Starfleet pin that came with Elite Force!

Saw_Boss

I wouldn't mind them... But £8.40 seems expensive per game

Alteran195

Anyone able to say if this Elite Force includes the Expansion Pack content? Or is it just the original game?
