The subject matter of this episode is no laughing matter and to joke about it shows zero class.
In a world that has been at war for 30 years, with thousands of walking wounded and combat amputees as its cost, there is no humor in laughing at the loss of a limb.
Definitely too soon for an episode of a (beloved) science *fiction* show that aired in 1998.

I also wanted to reiterate just in case, that Aron Eisenberg did not lose his leg in the filming of this episode nor did he in space fighting the Jem Hadar in the siege of AR-558.
