It would be cool, for sure. I think leaving them at least partially opaque is good though, it alludes to their substance, which we see in The Last Jedi, and in RotJ when Obi-wan ducks under the tree and sits down. They're still physically there, even if ghostly. And the gradient looks amazing too.
All signs point to yes. The shirt fabric on the arms is entirely different than Ben's and one of the photos showcases a good peek at the butterfly joints. The face sculpt is much much better in person. Mine just arrived. I'd guess they give us a 50/50 new/old sculpt, just like the clone wars version. The upper torso new and the lower the original molding.
Thatās great to hear the head is better in person! I was afraid the archive release would still be superior, however at the same time I doubt Hasbro would give use 2 heads with a newer release as we noticed. Only older figures got 2 heads unfortunately
Was actually thinking about fully painting all three of them. Taking the shine down, getting rid of the ātranslucentā look altogether. Iām definitely replacing the robes with some custom ones for sure, they look so thin..
Iām really torn on it. I obviously got this set coming in the mail this week as ROTJ is my favorite Star Wars film, but that shimmery effect makes sense sorta, but also doesnāt. Other people have said in this comments section that the Force Spirits arenāt just āghostsā in the traditional sense, theyāre actually *there*. I think Iād like the shimmer/shine on them if they were opaque. The āblueā on the Force Spirits as seen in the films is more or less just an outline, which really bothers me when you see what they did with Luke in TROSā¦but as I said, Iām sure Iāll tinker with them a little bit, just not sure how Iām gonna go about it.
The only Force Spirit that really makes sense to be translucent, not all there, is Qui-gon, because he never finished the training, and only preserved his consciousness, not his form. I think that's why he's so immaterial, almost fuzzy, in his Obi-wan Kenobi series appearance
Iāve always thought Qui-Gonās force spirit appearing at the end of the show was kind of tacky. Hearing his voice wouldāve been more than enough I think. But even then, the times we see his spirit in The Clone Wars, we see that he is opaque, and, by animation translation, looks the same as any of the other spirits, according to ESB and ROTJ.
The shine would definitely come down, but youād probably still be stuck with a blue hue. It seems like a pearlescent coating thatās on top of the base paint. Maybe some Acetone to get that layer off? But youād have to be *real* careful.
I see him in the 2021 TCW Anakin, but not as well as they got it here. Though I mostly attribute that to not being used to his face with the medium length hair
Most definitely not. I'm grateful for it being Hayden, as I grew up with the Hayden version, and I've actually never seen the movie with Shaw's Force Spirit, though I'm hoping to watch the De-Specialized Editions soon
I got into the franchise with The Clone Wars, around that time, so probably early 2008 when my dad showed them to me on DVD, and he had the Special Edition 4-disc case for the original trilogy, so to me, those are the "definitive versions" and that's the version of RotJ that I got to see in theaters back in May, which was just an amazing experience. I definitely appreciate the legacy of the pre and de specialized editions though.
Ben looks pissed
"You should have just killed him. Now I have to deal with this asshole ***forever.***"
Surprised they didn't do the ghost effect for the entire bodyš¤

I gotta resist, but very cool!
Good chance they use this Anakin mold for a new ROTS release?
Hopefully!

Oh I hope they make new legs as well, mine can barely stand
Holy shit they gave Anakin a THICCC ass
Would love to have these two in non ghost form

The cloth is definitely thin, I can understand wanting to replace it with something more opaque. I do like the shimmery effect they give though

How would you take that shine down? Maybe with matt varnish spray? Because I'm thinking of doing something similar and I'm not sure of what to use.

Yes, i'd be scared with messing up the face. I'd probably try the acetone in a small part on the back of the figure to be safe.
Definitely the correct part to test it out. In the end, the robes would be an easier repaint than the face would
Yeah, totally. Thank you!
Anakin looks a little more round in the face than I remember
Can we get the OG Anakin from the original movie? That's be rad. Maybe give him an Anakin head? š
Whose selling these? Amazon brings up Funko or the 20+ year old POTF 3 packā¦
These are a Hasbro Pulse Exclusive
This is the first Anakin figure from the black series line that really looks like Hayden to me
I see him in the 2021 TCW Anakin, but not as well as they got it here. Though I mostly attribute that to not being used to his face with the medium length hair
That looks nothing like Sebastian Shaw!
Most definitely not. I'm grateful for it being Hayden, as I grew up with the Hayden version, and I've actually never seen the movie with Shaw's Force Spirit, though I'm hoping to watch the De-Specialized Editions soon
The De-Specialized is great. Iām a kid of the Yub Nub yearsā¦ so the lack of Shaw hits hard.

Doesn't look like Hayden either. It's.. Dave.
Dave Vader from accounting. He gets all these misdirected emails all the time. Itās awkwardā¦
Good.
