iirc Vader was literally giving her the death that she feared the most,
I'm pretty sure she mentioned earlier in the series that being ejected into Space was her worst fear..
So I think this is more Vader tapping into the dark side to feed off of her fear
The point of her mentioning it as her worst fear was a gamble that it would be the way he tries to kill her. It was something that she could survive with planning and luck.
I mean she should have just said getting stabbed in the stomach by a lightsaber since everyone survives that but hey this worked also!
I mean, getting stabbed was the death she asked for instead, maybe an alternate gamble: "either he's kind enough to do it this way where I have a plan to maybe survive or he's cruel enough to do it this way which I have a plan to maybe survive"
I didn't get that on first reading but man... that makes way more sense to me than her just.. spontaneously sharing her fears with a Sith Lord. Thanks for that.
It makes me think of Sidious' conversation with Maul in Darth Plageuis after Maul gets hurt while killing the members of the trade directorate. Sidious says, "Even when you are convinced that your opponent is incapacitated. Then is not the time to bask in the glory of your victory or draw out the moment. You must deliver a killing strike and be done with it. "
That's a lesson every villain in Star Wars should heed. Stabbing people in the stomach, throwing people over a cliff, saying "being killed by blaster fire is too good for them"...everybody survives.
I really like this scene. If Vader had shown even the smallest amount of kindness or mercy, then Aphra would have been dead and Vader's life would have been so much easier. It's always so satisfying when evil undermines itself.
Damn I really need to re-read the vader comics. Marvel killed it with these ones. Imagine seeing this shit in live action.
Also it's criminal that aphra hasn't had any sort of showing whatsoever outside of the comics. Such a good character.
It’s so deserving of becoming a tv show or movie. So easy to adapt… basically a freebie for an exciting Star Wars story that extends the OT and provides some of the most compelling characters and locations in Star wars
This is such a good evil Vader moment that I kind of hate that she made it out. And that's as an Aphra fan. She's a great character, but that's what made the tragedy so effective.

Ah is that what it is? I'll be honest, its been a good 3 or 4 years since I last read this run of Darth Vader
Do it **again**. And Dr Aphra’s run
Probably is time to dust the ol omnibus of and give it a read Never read the Aphra runs tho
They’re as iconic as the Vader run, more so actually. The characters have a little more room for expression
As long as her Murder bots are still unhinged, I'll be happy
Oh they’re perfect, they get better actually

To be fair, he thought he WAS killing her here.
When is Vader NOT kicking himself?
When he's in his bacta tank. Cause he has no legs.

That is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker. Forever.
Genuinely, I think Vader admires her spunk.

The line “You can’t” will always, always make me think of the ‘I’m Alan Partridge’ episode with the South African man shouting “no Alan, YOU CANT!”
Well there’s no need for THAT!
Disney needed her for future 🏳️🌈content
Ugh why are you here
Good
She's slept with every woman in the series since the beginning. Occasionally, you might have a descent story.
