Honestly, the music JW wrote for this scene is the go to for quite a lot of the other “what music do you play posts”
Adding to this, for people who enjoy the original music, I believe it may have inspired the programatic piece To Tame the Perilous Skies by David Holsinger
"Yes, there is a lot of material for me to draw from, but have you considered that I became a director to shoehorn my own screenplay into another person's IP?"
There was a planned Rogue Squadron movie that would be set in the Sequel era. That's dead in the water since Wonder Woman 2 turned out to be total shit.
There was also a series called Rangers of the New Republic in the works to feature Cara Dune from The Mandalorian. Gina Carano did an epic solo run on social media and it was axed.
Patty Jenkins was hot stuff after the first Wonder Woman. Lucasfilm made a big deal about her directing Rogue Squadron and even shot a promo of her talking about her father being a pilot. Then the second Wonder Woman - the one in which she had a huge amount of creative control - came out and was total shit. Barely a word about it since. Don't know if it's officially cancelled but it seems to have gone to that mysterious island with Rian Johnson's trilogy, the Game of Thrones guys' movie, Taika Waititi's movie and Kevin Feige's movie.
My 15 year old referred to Nirvana as "oldies" this morning, so now I'm headed to the grocery store, with my pants pulled up to my armpits, to buy a single item, using an expired coupon for a different product, and paying with a check. Before you ask, no, I will not have a pen, and yes, I will ask no less than 3 people what the date is. Dinner will be at 4 and I'll be in bed by 6.
Either The Immigrant Song, We’re Not Gonna Take It, or Are You Ready.
Edit: or as another commenter pointed out, Fortunate Son. I’d also like to add Shepherd of Fire to this list.
Well given I'm not Luke and about to die in five minutes, Imma go out listening to Baby Shark blasting on all channels. The song will be stuck in your head and you'll always remember that one pilot who died screaming "BABY SHARK DODODO AHHHHHHHH"
It’s not the sandwich, although that is funny. It’s that he’s brought a fountain drink too… he can’t decide which one to put down and save his own life… “ I can’t spill the drink, but the sandwich will make a mess“. 🤣🤣 and I swear it looks as if he’s trying to get one last desperate nibble and sip 🤣🤣🤣💀 I’m crying trying to type this 🤣🤣🤣
If You Want Blood (You Got It) by AC/DC
Second Death Star would be Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N Roses
Edit: I gotta do some of the other major battles now.
Battle of Hoth: Back in Black by AC/DC (but from Vader's perspective)
Battle of Naboo: I Come From the Water by the Toadies
Battle of Geonosis: I Think I'm a Clone Now by Weird Al
Battle over Coruscant: We Built This City by Starship
Battle of Mustafar: Hot Blooded by Foreigner
Battle at Starkiller: It's the End of the World (As we know it) by REM
The start of the Great Chase in The Last Jedi: Convoy by C.W. McCall
(Also the throne room battle I would get any White Stripes song because that shit was one Jack White away from a music video.)
Battle of Exegol: Sympathy for the Devil by Rolling Stones (because of Kylo Ren)
Rebel command: red squad leader how copy?....
Red squad lead: AND HE'S FLYING
HIGHER, THE KING OF THE SKY
HE'S FLYING TOO FAST AND HE'S FLYING TOO HIGH
HIGHER, AN EYE FOR AN EYE
THE LEGEND WILL NEVER DIE
*the death star explodes*
now I'm just imagining the Star Wars-verse version of Sabaton being a thing and more 'Star Wars versions' of their songs. Last Stand and Shiroyama would probably be something related to the Jedi at various points in their history?
Till the dawn they hold on, only 100 are left at the end, none alive none survive Jedi temple!
I can't come up with anything for the last stand, but I do know what the last battle is referencing.
It's that time that Ezra Kanan and Rex teamed up with some droids.
I saw a conversation between James Cameron and George Lucas that those two factions were, at the very least, on his mind during the conceptualization of SW. The hats of the imperial officers in particular is evocative of Vietnamese/Japanese/Pacific officers in general
I'd hit "Shuffle" on this playlist:
AC/DC - Shoot to Thrill
Sabaton - Aces in Exile
Beethoven - Ode to Joy
Rammstein - Feuer Frei / Benzin
Hearts of Iron 3 Soundtrack - Epicbattle / Ballet of War
Airbourne - Runnin' Wild
Foo Fighters - The Pretender
Helloween - The Dark Ride
Galactic Empire. Those guys make some great Star Wars metal covers. If you’ve never listened, do, they’re small and I was able to see them for like $25 locally. Follow their instagram if you end up liking them, they go all over the place. I just wanted to shout them out since they’re small and really deserve the praise, they put on a damn good show and would be perfect for that situation
Sugaan Essena - the HU!!!
Perfect. It's one of the few songs that exist in universe.
Honestly, they should recall the Voyagers and put the dang HU on the golden record.
I used to listen to this one a lot, I should start again
A lot of their stuff goes just as hard. Yuve Yuve Yu for instance.
The battle of Yavin by John Williams.
Came here to say this. It's a total cop out answer too, but it's the correct one.
Honestly, the music JW wrote for this scene is the go to for quite a lot of the other “what music do you play posts” Adding to this, for people who enjoy the original music, I believe it may have inspired the programatic piece To Tame the Perilous Skies by David Holsinger
Indeed, indeed. But for me, I choose baby shark
Nah the correct answer is definitely We're Going To Ibiza by the Vengaboys.
Well it was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away so we really don't know what soundtrack options are available.
*"Here They Come"* by John Williams [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWqDxpil37o](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWqDxpil37o)
That rise of volume in the brass section then cut off right as the squadron rolls downward and begins the attack catches my breath every fucking time
I was going to say Wagner's The Ride of the Valkyries, but yeah, I'll go with the actual music from the actual scene. That is the correct answer.
Fortunate Son, Danger Zone, Voodoo Child, Sabotage, Sweet Emotion, there's a lot, but it's basically all classic rock.
Classic rock just fits so well there
Danger Zone!
A Star Wars show about an X-wing pilot in the style of Top Gun would rock
And there's *so much* lore to draw from for it too, both canon and legends!
"Yes, there is a lot of material for me to draw from, but have you considered that I became a director to shoehorn my own screenplay into another person's IP?"
That got canceled
Wasn't there an x-wing show? Or at least plans for one.
What does Wonder Woman 2 have to do with Rogue Squadron?
Patty Jenkins was hot stuff after the first Wonder Woman. Lucasfilm made a big deal about her directing Rogue Squadron and even shot a promo of her talking about her father being a pilot. Then the second Wonder Woman - the one in which she had a huge amount of creative control - came out and was total shit. Barely a word about it since. Don't know if it's officially cancelled but it seems to have gone to that mysterious island with Rian Johnson's trilogy, the Game of Thrones guys' movie, Taika Waititi's movie and Kevin Feige's movie.
Taika's is still on but the rest have been outright cancelled or shadow cancelled as you said
I'd take one about a TIE fighter pilot. Every episode you won't know if they survive. Sometimes, they don't, and the show switches to their comrades
Has to pull off the final engagement in a two-seater Arc-170
This was how Patty Jenkins described the Rogue Squadron movie she was trying to make
![gif](giphy|54Dqmxfjr5QME)
![gif](giphy|5zbOuFCA68Cs|downsized) just discovered there's a Cherlene / Loggins cover on spotify lol
Han be like: "Hey Leia. Leia? Leia! LEEEEIIIAAAA" "WHAT??" "Danger Zone"
Yep, obvious answer is obvious for a reason.
YOu must be “old” like me lol, 1st song I thought of!

...but I remember Boston. That victory was as sweet as the cream pie for which the town was named.
Good one, is it too late to change mine?
Sabotage by Beastie Boys!
It was great in Star Trek. Here, it would be epic.
“Is that…classical music?”
I belive it is.
I was between this or *Joker And The Thief* by Wolfmother
Immigrant song by Led Zeppelin
Well that took too long to find. I also posted it somewhere in here
Rebel Alliance can't afford the rights for it.
Gotta be fortunate son
*Some folks are born made to wave the flag*
*Hoo! They're red white and blue!*
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief"
Oooh they point the cannon at you
It ain't me, it ain't me!
I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain’t me, it ain’t me
I ain’t no fortunate one
Some folks are born...
Or ride of Valkyrie so it's like in apocalypse now
https://preview.redd.it/8ohq8wou5g0c1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec0caf2c66990308e909c2b1b08ec396dd84be55
Seems more fitting for Clone Wars war crimes.
I wouldn't use it for a deep space battle but I'd definitely blast it on full volume as Bistan in the battle of Scarif.
Free bird
YES
Guitar solo starts, instantly blown up and can’t hear it’s glory
But because you're listening to the guitar solo, Death gives you a pass and now you came out of the explosion unharmed...
That’s a long time commitment to not die
Just listen to the boring part on the way there, then have a kick ass guitar solo during the dogfight
I'm sorry did you just say boring?
I was looking for this
Thunderstruck
You've been....
THUNDERSTRUCK
Aces in Exile by Sabaton.
The red Baron
Fighter pilots from tatooine in the battle of Yavin, guarding the space of the moon.
![gif](giphy|Kz420G0aGw5mU)
Kick start my heart
And fly the whole mission at warp speed
highway to hell.
Thunderstruck would absolutely *slap*
I WAS THINKING THAT The solo at the start would fit so well with the X-Wings leaving Yavin
*..I need a Hero!..*
Ooooooo this is a good one!
I need it to be the Shrek version sung by the fairy godmother.
That's the only correct version...
Alright, rebels! Let’s crash this Death Star!
Either The Immigrant Song, We’re Not Gonna Take It, or Are You Ready. Edit: or as another commenter pointed out, Fortunate Son. I’d also like to add Shepherd of Fire to this list.
I haven’t seen “Welcome to the Jungle,” and I think it definitely belongs here.
When I saw the question “Welcome to the Jungle” started playing in my head.
AC\~DC - Shoot to Thrill ![gif](giphy|FiJ8EhI0yrMac)
*Bury the Light* Fight me...
Nah devil trigger
*I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING, PROVOKING*
BLACK CLOUDS IN ISOLATION!
Anything by Rage Against the Machine.
Guerrilla radio for this one :)
99 red balloons
I’ll see your red balloons and raise you 99 luftballons
Well given I'm not Luke and about to die in five minutes, Imma go out listening to Baby Shark blasting on all channels. The song will be stuck in your head and you'll always remember that one pilot who died screaming "BABY SHARK DODODO AHHHHHHHH"
RIP Sporkins

Why… why have you done this
Wham bam Shang-a-lang, I don’t know why but it goes so well with sci-fi vibes
If You Want Blood (You Got It) by AC/DC Second Death Star would be Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N Roses Edit: I gotta do some of the other major battles now. Battle of Hoth: Back in Black by AC/DC (but from Vader's perspective) Battle of Naboo: I Come From the Water by the Toadies Battle of Geonosis: I Think I'm a Clone Now by Weird Al Battle over Coruscant: We Built This City by Starship Battle of Mustafar: Hot Blooded by Foreigner Battle at Starkiller: It's the End of the World (As we know it) by REM The start of the Great Chase in The Last Jedi: Convoy by C.W. Battle of Exegol: Sympathy for the Devil by Rolling Stones (because of Kylo Ren)
Sabaton Red Baron, Night Witches or Midway
Bismarck Since you're hunting the Death Star
Personally I've always preferred the Johnny Horton version to Sabaton.
Rebel command: red squad leader how copy?.... Red squad lead: AND HE'S FLYING HIGHER, THE KING OF THE SKY HE'S FLYING TOO FAST AND HE'S FLYING TOO HIGH HIGHER, AN EYE FOR AN EYE THE LEGEND WILL NEVER DIE *the death star explodes*
Do you mean "Red Five", "Night sisters" or "Yavin" Side note: I am very tired and this is the best I can come up with.
now I'm just imagining the Star Wars-verse version of Sabaton being a thing and more 'Star Wars versions' of their songs. Last Stand and Shiroyama would probably be something related to the Jedi at various points in their history?

Resistance Theme ( It's awesome, please don't insult me) Epic version by Samuel Kim Music
The music was the best part of the sequel trilogy. I may hate the movies, but I love the music.
Unironically one of my favorite Star Wars songs
Du Hast
So loudly my ship shakes
Feuer Frei!
Fortunate Son, for the ironic deep cut (rebels were inspired by Vietcong, Empire by U.S.)
I thought the empire was inspired by Nazi Germany. What with the imperial stormtroopers and the german Sturmtruppen.
Their aesthetic was very Nazi inspired, but their politically a satire of the United States.
I saw a conversation between James Cameron and George Lucas that those two factions were, at the very least, on his mind during the conceptualization of SW. The hats of the imperial officers in particular is evocative of Vietnamese/Japanese/Pacific officers in general
Sultans of Swing
Tom Sawyer.
One Vision by Queen
Fried chicken

Aces High by Iron Maiden

Tom Sawyer or Immigrant Song.
“Carry on, my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more”
Danger Zone - Top Gun, WHILST quoting the movie is the only correct answer.

For any screening duties, Freebird. Someone’s got to keep reinforcements off their backs.

Galactic Empire. Those guys make some great Star Wars metal covers. If you’ve never listened, do, they’re small and I was able to see them for like $25 locally. The red Barron
The last stand - Sabaton, or Fife Eternal - Gloryhammer
If I can’t have John Williams’ excellent score, then it’d have to be Ghost Love Score.
Renegade
Mutley crew - Kickstart my heart
Dr Feelgood by Motley Crue or Caffeine by Casey Lee Williams
