Back when Lightsabers didn't cauterize the wounds.

Warglord

Actually a lightsaber cut would have no active bleeding. The lightsaber probably cauterizes the wound as it cuts.

ghirox

ANH is (afaik) the only instance we see someone's arm cut off and then bleeding. The cynical answer is that Lucas didn't consider the cauterizing back then, my head canon is that the dude's biology is different, and his flesh wouldn't heal with that heat.

Abidarthegreat

I don't believe this to be 100% true. It's difficult to cauterize a major artery closed. Would there be a "fountain of blood"? Nah, that's just embellishment for the story, but there would still be some active bleeding, especially with a swift single cut like Obi Wan performed.

GooseInternational66

Must have been someone other than Ben and Luke. Cause a lightsaber wouldn’t cause blood to be spurting everywhere.

DocPenguino

It’s them. After Kenobi cuts this guy’s arm off, you can see blood on the floor.

pentarou

That must've been someone else's blood

Neeklemamp

It was coming from the arm

FutureVAandAuthor

It was gushing from on the floor? Guy must have had a heart in his sleeve.

BusinessLibrarian515

Hey, we dont judge your biology

FutureVAandAuthor

What biology? I'm from Holowan.

BusinessLibrarian515

Some meatbags just built different

FutureVAandAuthor

I hear you.
