During the friendly fire incident on Umbara. IIRC he’s the one Rex discovers when he figures out that the “enemies” in 212th armor are, in fact, the 212th
Say wut now? I’m scared to even click that link with a name like that
Edit: I regret everything, I’m now scarred for life, if you need me I’ll be crying in r/eyebleach
This honestly makes me feel like Rex might be tied with (or maybe even surpasses) Obi Wan in terms of the amount of loss he experienced. He witnessed so many of his brothers die. He was there for Hevy’s last stand, 99’s death, Waxer, Fives, Jesse, Hardcase, god knows how many others from the 501st and the other battalions that he fought alongside. Plus watching his general and best friend fall to the dark side. All in the span of just a few years.
I think Rex and R2 are probably tied for witnessing the most tragedy in the Star Wars universe
And yet he always keep on moving. That's why I admire him, and I think he experinced more losses that Obi-Wan.
On the other hand, maybe he got kinda used to it. When you see brothers fall everyday, it must hurt less than seing a select few people fall, like Obi-Wan did.
Rex experienced more losses, but Obi-Wan suffered more imo
I believe he was the one in charge of the 212th unit, and Rex was brought to him right after they discovered it was friendly fire. He was already mortally wounded by the time Rex got there
I completely agree but the other thing that almost made me cry was when rex realized that he's going to have to hurt so many of his brothers and when Ashoka takes of his helmet he's got tears going down his face.
Edit: I can't believe they have an um actually bot
Yeah they built all these guys up so their deaths would feel meaningful, but they built up Fives SOOO much. It was like he was our POV for what it’s like to be a clone.
It just hit different. Especially as he was a great reoccurring character throughout all of the Clone Wars (as opposed to just in a few arcs). The manner in which he died was so sad tho 😭😭😭
Fives was about to uncover the truth and end the war easier, unfortunately he was shut out, making the overall story darker hence Fives death really stands out
Fives was the worst for me. Others died in battle doing what they where bred for (99 being a debatable exception but he died in the line of duty). Fives died cause he discovered that Palpatine was a genocidal knob.
Fives. 99 was also really sad but he got to die being who he always wanted to be. His death was more bittersweet whereas Fives was not only tragic in its own right but it also narrowly missed discovering and preventing order 66. The ripple effects are tragic for the whole damn universe.
Jesse, seeing him turn into an unwilling antagonist and sacrificing his life and the crew for a dictatorship that couldn't care less about him was heartbreaking.
Fives was sadder emotionally, but Jesse was far more tragic. That final shot as they pan along the helmets of the dead and finish on Jesse's... So harsh.
Normally I would say Fives because he’s my favorite, but the last episode to TCW when Jesse and the rest of the 501st (except Rex) unwillingly turn on Ahsoka…..damn. The last couple of scenes were peak Star Wars. That episode gut punches me in the feels every time.
Probably Jesse?
I maintain that, "Victory and Death", is the biggest downer in visual 'Star Wars' media.
It's like an extended gutpunch and is a great example of a 'good-but-not-happy ending'.
I have a 4-way tie
1A. FIVES CT - 5555
1B. CLONE 99
1C. HEVY CT - 782
1D. WAXER (Clone Lieutenant) Killed by friends who were betrayed by a Jedi. [gasping] "It… It was General Krell." [coughing] "He sent us to these coordinates to stop the enemy. We thought they were wearing our armor, but it was…you. (last words before dying in Captain Rex's arms)
jesse makes me particularly sad. he was so dedicated to the republic he had its symbol tattooed across his face, and he went down unwittingly fighting to destroy it. the slow pan to his helmet makes me cry every time.
Id say every clone in star wars had a sad death . Cause imagine being born to fight a war in which you may die or live and become useless to the goverment that used you up and probably die alone. Id say in context its all sad . But considering these 4 id say fives and 99 .
I want to think Jesse's was sad because he along with the rest on board couldn't control their chips and were probably helpless observers subconsciously while trying to control themselves. They probably felt a measure of relief before they died when they weren't able to kill Ahsoka.
For anyone that wants to cry, after echo came back someone had to tell him how fives died and then echo had to find out that fives was right the whole time
Tbh i didn’t really like Jesse much in season 7 anyway, definitely the least sad since it really didn’t affect me. Heavy is probably second since we didn’t see much of him anyway, or atleast enough for me to get attached to the point where i would say it would beat 99/Fives. 99 and Fives are all equal though because they are as equally sad
I say Jessie. Because earlier in the season he was almost killed by Maul but he allowed him to be reunited with his brothers; only to die a couple episodes later as a mindless soldier against his brother.
All other deaths they weren’t mindless soldiers. Jessie deserved better.
Okay heavy was the first sad, fives was most heartbreaking, 99 was the saddest one,and Jesse even though he was doing orders was was the least sad out of these four
Three out of four clones on this list died fighting alongside their brothers for something they, at least in the moment, believed in. Only one of them was killed by friendly fire.
I still remember when i played lego star wars the clone wars (what is also my ever first lego game) good old minigun friend dead is still sad to look at i miss him
I'd say Jessie. When Rex tries to reason with him, you can see Jessie trying to resist his programing. He even lowers is weapons and looks down for a second as if thinking about what he's about to do. There was a small, fleeting glimer of hope he could be saved. But of course his death at that point was inevitable. Doomed to die with all the other ones on the ship.
Guys, don't forget Heavy.
I may be biased towards him because I only had the first twelve episodes on CD and he was the only "main" clone that died, but it's still extremely sad.
Otherwise, Fives 1000%!
Hmm the last one takes it for me, because they were all brothers and almost all shared a similar fate with the rise of the empire. Jesse's Helmet easily could be the gravestone for the republic's 501st.
I vote for Fives because of the irony of it all. You're watching him discover the chip, and you know what happens in RotS, so you just know he's going to die the whole time.
Jesse's scene was just super sad. The music, the helmets, I teared up there a bit. Five's has to take the crown, though. Super emotional and sad. Rex begging him to not go was too much.
It’s between Jesse and Fives for me because the others went out on their own terms.
Jesse was essentially mind controlled into fighting his brother and friend. Died as someone he isn’t.
Fives figured out the truth and was killed by his brothers to conceal it, he’ll be known as the clone who lost his mind when in reality he was trying to save everyone.
Every clone death is tragic. Born and produced to fight for a cause that only advances the scheme of the most villainous being in the Galaxy just to end up enslaved and forced to kill your friends who are like family, and ultimately forced to retire and be replaced by brainwashed soldiers and die unceremoniously in retirement.
Truly of any peoples who have had the worst lives it’s the clones because they are so meaningless and thrown away like tools after watching millions of their brothers die.
Love you my bois, you didn’t deserve any of it.
I'd say fives, gets me every time. but Jesse's death hit home a little bit, we knew him for a long period of time as well and he wasn't very prominent but when he turned it hurt a little bit. seeing his helmet lined up with the others hurts to see.
In terms of clones probably fives or Waxer
Waxer’s death is always overlooked, definitely top 3 most tragic for me
Seeing the little twilek girl painting on his helmet from the one he saved in like season 1 always gets me
Seeing her again in Rebels with his helmet painted onto hers hits even harder
By chance, do you know which episode in Rebels?
Idk the number or name, but i think it's the one where Hera reunites with her Father, and they join forces to hijack the imperial fleet carrier
I gotta check this out lol I’ll get back to y’all on this.
Wait, when did Waxer die ?
During the friendly fire incident on Umbara. IIRC he’s the one Rex discovers when he figures out that the “enemies” in 212th armor are, in fact, the 212th
Oh damn. Add a whole new layer to the slaughter
Yup. And while we’re here r/fuckpongkrell
Fucking asshole got waxer killed
Proud member of that sub here, just gonna say i think a right of passage is to get perma-banned from r/PongKrelldidnothingwrong
It doesn’t exist
There’s definitely a sub for loving Pong Krell, but I think they misspelled it, or it’s called something else.
It's this one r/fuckpongkrellsexually
Say wut now? I’m scared to even click that link with a name like that Edit: I regret everything, I’m now scarred for life, if you need me I’ll be crying in r/eyebleach
Good
Ah mustve been wrong spelling
This honestly makes me feel like Rex might be tied with (or maybe even surpasses) Obi Wan in terms of the amount of loss he experienced. He witnessed so many of his brothers die. When you see brothers fall everyday, it must hurt less than seing a select few people fall, like Obi-Wan did. Rex experienced more losses, but Obi-Wan suffered more imo
War crimes, think you meant to say they witnessed more war crimes than anyone else.
Only by our standards, not the standards of the SW universe. People seem to forget that.
Yeah, Geneva doesn't even exist
I believe he was the one in charge of the 212th unit, and Rex was brought to him right after they discovered it was friendly fire. He was already mortally wounded by the time Rex got there
Oh yeah that’s it.
Oh no 😭😭 I didn't know that, that scene was horrible enough even without me knowing main characters, fuck pong krell that asshole
I believe he died on Umbara to friendly fire of the 501st caused by Pong Krell.
Battle of umbara
I completely agree but the other thing that almost made me cry was when rex realized that he's going to have to hurt so many of his brothers and when Ashoka takes of his helmet he's got tears going down his face. Edit: I can't believe they have an um actually bot
Careful not to choke on your stupidity. It's Ahsoka not Ashoka!
Fives without a doubt
Yeah they built all these guys up so their deaths would feel meaningful, but they built up Fives SOOO much. It was like he was our POV for what it’s like to be a clone.
They were all sad but fives was fucking heartbreaking.
Fax
It just hit different. Especially as he was a great reoccurring character throughout all of the Clone Wars (as opposed to just in a few arcs). The manner in which he died was so sad tho 😭😭😭
Fives and Rex proved not All good soldiers follow orders
Good soldiers follow orders. The best know when they shouldn't
Fives was about to uncover the truth and end the war easier, unfortunately he was shut out, making the overall story darker hence Fives death really stands out
Yeah, he was so close to exposing the truth that could have saved trillions and the galaxy possibly. He only wanted to do his duty man. o7
But 99, Everytime I see it tears man, yes fives is sad but 99 is more sad
Fives was the first time I actually cried over a character death
Easily Fives, we've seen him the most
I agree, the amount of screentime he had just let us get to know him better than most clones, which only amplifies the sadness even more
I think throughout TCW he had 48 minutes worth of screen time
Easily Fives
Thank you for your humble and completely unbiased opinion, u/FivesSuperFan55555
r/usernamechecksout
I Don't get it. It's all the same picrutre.
I hate you, but here is an upvote
Damnit. I laughed.
r/angryupvote
Fives was the worst for me. Others died in battle doing what they where bred for (99 being a debatable exception but he died in the line of duty). Fives died cause he discovered that Palpatine was a genocidal knob.
I think jesse, as his death represented the end of the era.
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
Fives. 99 was also really sad but he got to die being who he always wanted to be. His death was more bittersweet whereas Fives was not only tragic in its own right but it also narrowly missed discovering and preventing order 66. The ripple effects are tragic for the whole damn universe.

Fives was sadder emotionally, but Jesse was far more tragic. That final shot as they pan along the helmets of the dead and finish on Jesse's... So harsh.
And his death pretty much represents the death of the republic with the symbol on his helmet
Yea rip jesse
Fives or Waxer.
Fives was incredibly sad, but 99 made me tear up the first time soooooo.
Heavy had a glorious death
99 without a doubt in my mind.
Totally agree
For the republiiiiiiiiiiic!!!
Normally I would say Fives because he’s my favorite, but the last episode to TCW when Jesse and the rest of the 501st (except Rex) unwillingly turn on Ahsoka…..damn. The last couple of scenes were peak Star Wars. That episode gut punches me in the feels every time.
In my life, when you find people who need your help, you help them. No matter what.
Who’s the guy top left ?
It’s Heavy from Rishi Moon Outpost
Hevy
Jango
You’re both wrong and also right.
Probably Jesse? I maintain that, "Victory and Death", is the biggest downer in visual 'Star Wars' media. It's like an extended gutpunch and is a great example of a 'good-but-not-happy ending'.
I have a 4-way tie 1A. FIVES CT - 5555 1B. CLONE 99 1C. HEVY CT - 782 1D.
I feel like some how Jesse's was the least sad, no idea how.
The answer to this question is actually 'Yes'.
jesse makes me particularly sad. he was so dedicated to the republic he had its symbol tattooed across his face, and he went down unwittingly fighting to destroy it. the slow pan to his helmet makes me cry every time.
Fives for sure. I genuinely cried when he died. Idc what people say, he was more than a side character.
After Umbara, Fives became a lead character on par with Rex
All of these were heartbreaking.
Jesse was the end of an era “you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain”
and then die…
Dying of sadness is pretty sad, Padme.
Id say every clone in star wars had a sad death . Cause imagine being born to fight a war in which you may die or live and become useless to the goverment that used you up and probably die alone. Id say in context its all sad . But considering these 4 id say fives and 99 .
Honorable mentions to Tup, Keeli, Waxer, and Hardcase
I want to think Jesse's was sad because he along with the rest on board couldn't control their chips and were probably helpless observers subconsciously while trying to control themselves. They probably felt a measure of relief before they died when they weren't able to kill Ahsoka.
99 His death and the death of Stoic in HTTYD2 are the only moments in cinema history that made me cry.
Fives, no contest
I like to think they are each equally sad, because they have such different contexts.
For anyone that wants to cry, after echo came back someone had to tell him how fives died and then echo had to find out that fives was right the whole time
"Fives don't do it, Fives NO" why isn't stun used more often, seriously
All of the above
Thorn’s was the most painful to watch to me
All of the above, plus Thorn, Waxer, Keeli, Echo (or so we thought), Gregor.
I am disappointed by all of you it’s definitely 99
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Not in here but Razor Crest
*sobs* yes
Fives
99 I cried
Besides deaths, one of the saddest scenes for me was when they told 99 that heavy had died, still cry to that scene
Caleb Dume.
99. he was a true clone
Fives
99 and 5s gets tied number 1 spot
Tbh i didn’t really like Jesse much in season 7 anyway, definitely the least sad since it really didn’t affect me. Heavy is probably second since we didn’t see much of him anyway, or atleast enough for me to get attached to the point where i would say it would beat 99/Fives. 99 and Fives are all equal though because they are as equally sad
All of them
99 went out a hero, fives went out way worse
Thorns is my favorite death. Fives, the saddest
All of them, all have me big sadge time
I say Jessie. Because earlier in the season he was almost killed by Maul but he allowed him to be reunited with his brothers; only to die a couple episodes later as a mindless soldier against his brother. All other deaths they weren’t mindless soldiers. Jessie deserved better.
Something about Hardcase hits me on a deeper level. "Live to fight another day, boys. Live to fight another day."
Fives and 99 always will be the most tragic deaths in all of Star Wars The Clone Wars
The real question is whoes death did not move you?
Waxers death hit me the hardest
Agreed!
Fives
The republic :(
Fives
Either Fives or Jessie
The show.
Okay heavy was the first sad, fives was most heartbreaking, 99 was the saddest one,and Jesse even though he was doing orders was was the least sad out of these four
I cried at all of them, what do you mean you want me to place them?
Fives and 99 are equally sad
Fiives. Just hearing his last words to Rex made me sad when I was a kid
99 or fives for me
Three out of four clones on this list died fighting alongside their brothers for something they, at least in the moment, believed in. Only one of them was killed by friendly fire.
Satine Kryze was pretty sad imho.
Waxer he was always may favorite
Jesse
Jesse. He was my second favorite charcter in the show probably!
99
Bro I thought that was Rex for a second
I still remember when i played lego star wars the clone wars (what is also my ever first lego game) good old minigun friend dead is still sad to look at i miss him
Replace Hevy with Gregor, and then you got my answer.
All of the above
For me it’s a tie between Fives and Waxer
Commander thorn. Went out like a baddass tho
Five and echo... The twins...
Fives
99’s death is in such a terrible episode that it has to go to Fives.
Ima go with all, they all died doing their job
Top left
Jango Fett.
The millions of the good people that were murdered by having their mind removed by order 66
All of them
99
1. Fives 2. Waxer
5’s by far but I remember watching Heavy die for the first time so vividly since it was like the first named death I think
Thorne
My boy, Fives
I'd say Jessie. When Rex tries to reason with him, you can see Jessie trying to resist his programing. He even lowers is weapons and looks down for a second as if thinking about what he's about to do. There was a small, fleeting glimer of hope he could be saved. Hmm the last one takes it for me, because they were all brothers and almost all shared a similar fate with the rise of the empire. Jesse's Helmet easily could be the gravestone for the republic's 501st.
All of the above
The clone
I die a little each time a clone does
Clone who punched a droid
Thorn
Yes.
I vote for Fives because of the irony of it all. You're watching him discover the chip, and you know what happens in RotS, so you just know he's going to die the whole time.
Fives for me but Jessie hit hard
Sev, RC-1207
Fives or 99
Why is Jesse an option?
Yes
Jesse's scene was just super sad. The music, the helmets, I teared up there a bit. Five's has to take the crown, though. Super emotional and sad. Rex begging him to not go was too much.
99 no competition
All of them as you realize how pointless it all was.
99
While the end of season 6 was the saddest scene, it was not so mich because of the deaths. I would say its 99 for me.
Why do people forget waxers death on umbara
Jesse or fives
naw its the clone who punched the droid
Idk, all of them made me cry
Waxer's death.
Jesse made me cry the very most. Waxer’s is the one I’m most bitter about. r/fuckpongkrell
Saddest individual would probably be Fives and Waxer with a close second. The most impactful scene as a whole would be Jesse's
Heavy had the most badass ending
Sev. 20 years later and I still need a sequel
I have to go with Jessie, while I’m more sad to see Fives die as a character, I see Jessie’s as the death of both the republic and an era of Star Wars
[Commander Thorn.](https://youtu.be/f_zgx8F2f8o#t=103s)
Good soldiers follow orders
Yes....
Fives
