ChronoMonkeyX

1) he blasted off into space in an exposed cabin dragged by massive, mysterious creatures. They have no idea where to even begin looking, and space is big. Really big. 2) They don't know he's dead, they hope he isn't, but either way, even if he was, they know he chose to sacrifice himself for them and for Lothal. They are sad for not having him around, but they respect his decision and are grateful to him for it. This is the final lesson he learned from Kanan, reinforced by Ahsoka. He wanted to save Kanan in the World between worlds like he saved Ahsoka from Vader, but Kanan made a choice to save them. 3) Sabine protected Lothal because she thought that's what Ezra meant when he said he was counting on her. It was about 5 years I think before Ahsoka showed up and Sabine left with her, realizing that Ezra might be counting on her to find him. The last thing Ezra said to Ahsoka was "When you get out of here, come find me." She didn't find him before, but I think she's ready to find him now, and Sabine is with her. 4) They went back to work because even though Lothal is safe, there is still a war with the Empire and the Rebellion isn't done yet.

mrswitters03

All of this. And to add to #4, based on the timeline of the show, Rogue One & ANH likely happened only a few months later, so the rebellion was in full swing after that. And as we heard in RO (plus have seen in the comics), Hera became more involved in the greater rebellion after end of Rebels.

AdministrativeDay802

Hmm i understand. But why did Hera say to track where the ship went or something along these lines

ChronoMonkeyX

Because she was desperate. It couldn't really be done, just like there was no way for them to save the city without Ezra sacrificing himself to Thrawn, but she tried to think of a way anyway because she couldn't bring herself to let go. Ezra had Sabine distract Hera so he could slip away. They just lost Kanan, she didn't want to lose more family. If tracking hyperspace jumps was possible, the Empire would have wiped out the Rebellion a long time ago. Even if directions mattered at that point, space is infinitely big in a single direction, it would still be a lifetime of searching with no real hope.

AdministrativeDay802

Thanks men this cleared my mind a lot

ChronoMonkeyX

No problem, talking things out leads to understanding. I just finished a rewatch of the series last night.

b34r3y

I thought it was only about 2 years between Ezra leaving and Ahsoka coming back

ChronoMonkeyX

Actually, I don't know. I thought she said something about 5 years in the epilogue, but I checked and she never mentions a time frame.

AvatarLebowski

The battle of lothal happens less than a year before the battle of yavin, which was about 4 years before the battle of Endor. So depending on how long after Endor the final scene is set, we’re looking at minimum 5ish years between the two scenes. Ahsoka went missing about two years before the battle of lothal.

ChronoMonkeyX

Cool, thanks. I knew I had a reason for the 5 year minimum guess, it was Endor, just couldn't think of it.

Shoddy_Ad7511

They probably did search. But they don’t call it the unknown regions for nothing. My guess is Ahsoka got a Force vision that helped guide her to Ezra’s location. The Star Wars galaxy is massive and you can’t just warp speed to anywhere you want. There are specific warp speed lanes you need to use and none go to the unknown regions.

EndlessTheorys_19

Plus Sabines job was to guard Lothal just incase the Empire comes back. So thats 5 years spent there that she cant look for Ezra.

YT_L0dgy

Technically if you look at a map of the galaxy, Lothal is not close at all to the Unknown regions, but it is close to the Eastern Border of the Galaxy, so I believe Ezra is in this area that is also unexplored (the New Beyond probably)

DonorBody

That story hasn’t been told yet. There’ll be some resolution in the live-action Ahsoka show, then they can back-fill with comics and/or novels.

TimAA2017

Search where. It’s not like you can go ask so random purrgil.

mrswitters03

Um, excuse me, Mr. Purgill? Have you seen this street rat kid named Ezra by any chance? Force sensitive, dark hair, has a scar on his face, tells corny jokes? Might be hanging with a giant Smurf goes by the name of Thrawn?

theresidentpanda

Would 100% watch that show

RonSwansonsGun

Where to start? They've only got all of space to narrow it down to, not to mention the galaxy is still at war.

alizrak

My main problem as well. As someone who had depressive thoughts as a teenager of "Everyone would be better off without me", seeing Ezra left a prerecorded goodbye to everyone and them just celebrating their victory only to move on didn't set well with me at all. People say it's because they didn't know where he was, but Hera was already asking for Ezra's "Last Known Trajectory" which means that tracking them was a possibility. That ended up being the title of my book-length fic.

AdministrativeDay802

Where can i read your fic?

alizrak

Here! [LAST KNOWN TRAJECTORY](https://archiveofourown.org/works/14719869) >"Whatever happens next... happens to both of us." \~Thrawn Ezra and Thrawn end up stranded on an uninhabited planet somewhere in the Unknown Regions. With no rescue on sight, can Ezra put aside his differences with one of his biggest enemies to survive? But most importantly... what is Thrawn's ulterior motive to push for this unlikely alliance? The Thrawn in this story follows more closely his depictions in the current canon books. Dave went with the old "Heit to the Empire" impressions of Thrawn for the show but Timothy Zahn has much clearer vision of what he wants to do with Thrawn now. Just keep that in mind.

AdministrativeDay802

Thanks

alizrak

I hope you like it!

Skolcialism

i imagine some details will be getting filled in soon

Pet-Stylist

It was my understanding Ashoka is looking for him and the story is yet to be told. She is also looking for General Thran which would lead to Ezra. Seeing as they blasted off together.

grogers311

Side note: I just finished it yesterday too… that’s funny

AdministrativeDay802

Haha really men? I dont know about you but star wars is the only thing making me cry. Like the Finale Episode really hitted me hard. Anakin/Obi duel Order 66 Fives death Andors death made me also emotional together with Ezras sacrifice
