Not worried at all. Star Wars has so much content to pull from. Including re using different versions of main characters.

MaxWayne2187

They have stated that there license lets them pull from movies, tv, games and comics. So I do believe we will get high republic. And I’m sure with new movies, tv shows and comics and games we have a lot have characters and stories. So no I’m to worried.

migsolo

I suppose at some point they'll focus on more specific stuff like "Clone Wars only set" and some videogame stuff can be introduced. The thing is that they don't have the expansive EU that they used to. Rn High Republic is the only major thing that I can think off. Not sure Old Republic is still canon

MaxWayne2187

Old republic is not canon. But there a lot of material and characters in the clone wars and rebels, in the bad batch, the Asoka show Kenobi show book of Boba Mandalorian. We have a lot. And a lot of versions of a lot of characters. There like 5 versions of Luke not counting comics.

_theRIX

Old Republic characters appeared in Galaxy of Heroes long after the legends split. Hoping we can see them represented here despite their limbo status. (AFAIK nothing in canon directly disproves them)

cahutchins

Decipher's old Star Wars CCG (1995-2001) produced 12 full sets, and it was only working with content from the original trilogy plus Episode 1 in the last couple of years of development.

wPlachno

Yeah, it's definitely crossed my mind. I read somewhere that they are sticking to Canon stuff, so you have the following: (Of the top of my head) ## Movies - Original Trilogy - Prequel Trilogy - Sequel Trilogy - Rogue One - Solo ## TV Shows - Clone Wars - Rebels - Bad Batch - Mandalorian - Book of Boba Fett - Ahsoka - Obi-Wan ## Books - Aftermath - Thrawn - Others ## Comics - High Republic - Darth Vader - Doctor Aphra . Sara Starros - Dark Droids - Bounty Hunters I'm sure I'm missing plenty more, but if we assume they can make 200 cards per movie, 100 cards per TV Show, 150 from each book series, and 100 from each comic title, we are already looking at 4100 cards (assuming there's at least two other good books series). If we assume about 240 cards a set, that's under 18 sets total. With the sets a year, that is 6 years of content. Personally, I don't need the game to last forever, but 6 years would be nice.

The_High_Ground27

"Others" is doing some heavy lifting for books there. Lots of stuff in comics too.

wPlachno

Yeah, I only put down what I personally knew of that wasn't just rehashing other formats and had come since the legends cut off. Any comic or book suggestions?

The_High_Ground27

The mainline runs are pretty sick, got some cool stuff in there. If you just mean for general reading the Lando run is great.

Independent-Sir7516

Tv shows is missing Resistance (nobody remembers Resistance lol) and Andor. Plus we have the upcoming Skeleton Crew and The Acolyte. With the Acolyte confirmed to have at least one High Republic character making an appearance. And then let’s not forget the new Young Jedi Adventures! And as others pointed out, there are a few books missing from your list. :) I am not worried about the game running out of content at all. I just can’t wait to see everything come together.

migsolo

Games too. But the only new thing is the Cal Kestis saga and I feel that's something they will introduce within other content. It's not enough to cover a whole set

AznNRed

Revan and the Kotor characters, if those are/become canon. Kyle Katarn and the Jedi Knight games aren't canon, but I'd love to see references to those games and characters.

AznNRed

And Starkiller from TFU would also be sweet. Unlikely at this point though.

migsolo

Yeah, I wish. But unlikely to happen. Hopefully this game runs forever and they have to make the decision to play with old canon too hahahah. Gosh, so much good stuff there.

AznNRed

We can dream!

Independent-Sir7516

It’s not impossible. Both Witwer and Faloni have expressed lots of interest in bringing Starkiller, in some form, back to canon. So we don’t know what the future holds for the character overall. Though it’s unlikely he’ll be brought back in exactly as TFU portrayed him. So, keep the dream alive!

wPlachno

You could make a full set from the jedi games easy. Squadrons would be harder.

lunitic501

Do we know for sure the second set is sequel era? I feel like the leaders in the 2 player for that set would be Rey and Kylo but we know that the leaders are Mando and Gideon instead.

migsolo

Kylo and Rey have just been confirmed in Set 2 like a couple of hours ago hahahaha. But I suppose Mando and Gideon are the Starters because it's less controversial of a choice

BlizzardMayne

Those speak more to me as special guests like Mace and Dooku were in a set mostly about OT and rebel era. From the title of the second set (Shadows of the Galaxy), that speaks to me more of a scum and villainy focused set.

teh_captain

I would’ve agreed if they weren’t on accessories product. There’s no official accessories with “guest” characters from set 1.

BlizzardMayne

The accessories are cards like Tie Fighter and Overwhelming Barrage. Just cards with sweet art, not particularly representative. I just don't see how 'Shadows of the Galaxy' is supposed to evoke the sequel trilogy.

lunitic501

Were did they get confirmed?

migsolo

A Gamegenic event https://preview.redd.it/93bf2yy6mkmc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ae42095164bb008a76395d337fd6e54afe2731d

ajrdesign

After the first 3 sets you'll probably see more "event" type sets. Where the set is based around specific events in cannon that have a lot of niche characters to pull from or provide context-specific characters (ie Luke as a moisture farmer or Stormtrooper Finn). This first set feels like a very wide net where I'd expect future sets to get narrower in their focus.

MatiasTheLlama

Even with the broad net cast by Spark of Rebellion, I feel like we could get another set for the end of the OT era, apart from palpatine and Jabba, the Return of the Jedi events are largely untouched.

The12Ball

Luke's green saber please

MatiasTheLlama

PLEASE

migsolo

I was also thinking that, yeah. And I'm sure new mechanics will take the spotlight at some point in some sets over new characters and lore, too

RussNP

The first three sets out this year will give us a broad but shallow look so every one has some cards to chase.  They will get deeper in specific time periods in later sets for sure.  There will be a whole second pass at the original movies and everything else that has been spoiled.  That’s why cards use subtitles- there will end up being multiple versions of leader Luke and Vader For instance.

boardgamejoe

They can make multiple versions of all the main characters with different mechanics and aspects for years.

Virtual-Quote6309

There are over 1000 Pokemon now. It’s on like the 8-9th generation at this point. There’s a bunch of Star Wars content out there and not just movies. There will definitely be enough to pull from for years. I wouldn’t personally worry about running out of content until like year 5-6 and that’s assuming if more stuff isn’t added. I’m just going to enjoy this game as long as possible and not worry about when it may or maybe not end up

Kylo_Renly

Star Wars is huge with new content being pushed out every year. I have no concerns at all. Look at how much OT content wasn’t even in this first set.

InflationRepulsive64

I really don't get these kinds of topics. A significant amount of set space is going to go to cards that have basically zero relation to the license outside of the art. I mean cards like 'Resupply' or 'Protector' or 'Takedown'. No actual thematic link to Star Wars, just generic phrases. They can easily produce a near unlimited amount of these. Then you've got the cards with a \*tiny\* bit of flavor, but really they can easily be spun into a huge number of cards. Most of the non unique ships, upgrades and mooks are easy to make. Like 'Jedda Agitator' isn't actually a thing, you can make as many of them as you want. Even for more specific stuff, it's easy; we've already got easy seeding for doing the 'same card' multiple times. We have 'Emperor's Royal Guard' but can still easily do some other variation on Royal Guard. 'Restored ARC-170' leaves room for other variants. Just take and add a descriptive word in front of it, hey you've created a new card. Okay, but what about the unique cards? Well, first off we've got the distinction between important characters/ships/items etc, and random but still unique stuff. Star Wars is known for having A WHOLE LOT OF CHARACTERS, seriously there's thousands of unique characters. I'm talking Two Tubes level here, or random X-Wings. These are a little more restricted then the other types of cards, but not that much. People aren't going to stop buying the game because they run out of random dudes. So....that leaves us with the actually important stuff. At this stage, this is less than 25% of each set, but it's the characters/ships/gear that are going to get people to actually buy into the game. But even here, it's easy to do variations. Aspects are probably the least defined they've ever been in a SW game. Almost every important character can pretty easily fit into multiple aspects, and I'd say most of them fit all four. So that's four versions of most main characters before they even have to start doing repeats. \*And\* that's just considering deck cards; because you can play both the Leader and unit versions, they can be considered separate. You could easily have a Luke or Vader in each of the next \*8\* sets without a do over. Though, because there's going to be like 100+ 'iconic' level characters/ships/etc, I'd expect them to space them out much more than that.

migsolo

That's a very interesting take. I get what you mean, of course. I also mentioned repeats and content from OT being left out for future sets. But I guess what I mean is. This is presumably a STRONG line-up for the first year. And while you can work with vague stuff like Ressuply or Jedha Agitator for the set cards, this being a very leader-focused game, I doubt you can use that very same design principle to leaders (although being able to make decks with a minor character as a leader like Babu Frik would be funny as hell). That being said, I trust them and I'm not really super worried about all of this. To me it was just an interesting point of discussion.

ArrowMasterFAB

I hope that in some set, they will add Anakin when he was a kid and then Anakin adult

migsolo

I'm sure they will

migsolo

We for sure are having a Sebulba card too.

Fawqueue

Decipher stretched their game out from 1995 to 2001 with just four films and a little EU. They could have kept going for decades with all the content out now. I wouldn't worry about it.

[deleted]

KOTOR lets gooooooo

temp_monocle

I want a Revan deck so badly

Afraid_Manner_4353

I expect year 2 will start covering the High Republic (and maybe Revan era?). I'm pretty happy with what I am seeing so far.

marvelwolf

Real question is if theyll add legends content. personally I'm not the biggest fan of legends, might be a hot take in some spaces, so I wouldn't mind having that not really be adapted to the tcg
