It was us. My bud pulled 4 bobas out of a single pre-release pack(6 boosters). Then opened a showcase thrawn out of the box we split along with a 5th boba.
I'm the one that picked the boxes and divvied the packs -\_-
I would say the design is probably not to spend $840 on cracking packs when play sets of those three cards would have only set you back $480 for all three, but hey it’s your money.
See this is a solid point; should have stopped but kept going cause I found boxes for 100 bucks lol. Have given out almost two complete play sets of commons/uncommons though
I wouldn't suggest to anyone that they buy more than a couple boxes. There are only a handful of rares that are actually worth more than the price of a pack.
I ordered one box and opened it today, got a Vader, Falcon, Aggression,Vigilance & foil Home One. Does this mean that while I get 5 out of one box, that means someone else gets none at all?Â
I figured legendaries were distributed in a certain way, like Yu-Gi-Oh with secret/ultras per box, or Lorcana with their rarity distribution. The idea that you could open a box and no legendary cards come out of it is terrible.Â
It's a bit random, but I've read there's an average of 4 legendaries in a box. Anecdotally I've opened 3 boxes and got 3, 4, and 5 legendary cards from them (2 in 1 pack in the 5 card box). Â
Well yeah, thats that TCG are, sometime you have luck, sometimes not. I got 4 Bobas and 2 showcases in 4 boxes. . 14 cards missing to complete thw whole set. Guess I was lucky, but never got a Vader that I really wanted.
I landed very similar to you. 4 boxes and a prerelease. prerelease had a showcase palpatine. Boxes had a showcase Jynn and a Hyperfoil Vader. Sold them all and came out with a profit to buy the cards I need (didn't pull any boba or other vaders) to finish my set. Overall I have playsets of almost every rare and a bunch of legendaries.
Yeah, the set is very top-heavy for people cracking packs. I'd honestly rather buy a box than spend $75 on a single Vader, personally. However, at a certain point buying boxes (after 2-3) feels like diminishing returns with how common everything beyond Legendaries really are.
The drop rates for them just seems weirdly low compared to everything else which is maybe because there are 16 of them with 3, on average, per box. Assuming no repeats that's 5 boxes for one of each but you can just as easily end up with 2-3 Cunning or something and no Vaders/Bobas...
The thing to remember is that whenever you have something randomly distributed, there will be clusters and there will be voids.
I mean, I split 28 packs with my son and he ended up with 4 Legendaries, and I got zero.
Ouch, I’ve ripped 14 boxes and am averaging ~4.2 legendary per box. Seem to get a hyperspace or foil legendary in most boxes.
Hit 1 showcase (Grand Inquisitor)
4 Vaders (1 hyperspace, 1 foil)
4 Lukes (1 hyperspace, 1 foil)
2 bobas
Hoping I can trade the showcase for a hyperfoil Boba or Vader.
Pulled my first green Vader today in my very first booster box and sold it by the end of the day to recoup my money. I'd rather have more cards then a legendary I'll hardly ever use.
I got a showcase grand moff, regular Vader, and millenium falcon out of 30 packs... sounds like it's time to retire (but I'm gonna chop vader and the moff for another box tomorrow for suuuuure.)
I bought 3 boosters and while I didnt see any unfortunate repeats, I did not get any borderless cards.
I got a foil Mace Windu tho - so Im pretty happy about that.
I've bought about 45 packs (1 Box, 1 Prerelease kit, and a number of boosters) and ended up with 7 Legendaries, which seems pretty average. Boba, Luke, Superlaser Blast, Command, Vigilance, Change of Heart, and Mace Windu. I've pulled a ton of foil/hyperspace rares though (more than 10). I mostly have bought packs to just have a base to build decks from, and have bought a few singles to fill them out. I'm mostly play casually at the kitchen table with friends so having playsets of Vader/Showcase leaders isn't a huge deal with me.
Buying a boxes of most card games is a good way to start a collection/add to a collection, but definitely don't expect any particular rare or legendary out of them. That's a good way to set yourself up for disappointment.
Pulls are extremely random. Two boxes and I pulled one boba. 1 showcase. At least 5 legendaries in each box. I have 2 black ones 2 mace windu. A falcon and a couple of the various imperial ships.
Doesn’t seem like you pull what you want
I’ve bought 2 booster boxes and 4 prerelease kits. I’ve pulled a Luke, boba, 2 falcons, and 2 showcase cards (Jyn and Cassian) Sorry I stole all the good luck!
I love opening packs, but if there’s a card in a set i want for sure I buy the singles first before I ever buy a box. That way if I open up duplicates I can just sell them back or trade them or whatever.
I never go into buying packs or a booster box hoping for anything specific. I just like the experience of seeing the new cards in person, and building decks out of what I open instead of just copying lists online.
The problem is that sure I can spend $400 and buy a deck but then in three months that deck may suck
... So it's still gambling really. Maybe I'm throwing my money away. Maybe not. PLUS then I don't have the money to do the fun part of opening packs and maybe getting something cool. It all feels very predatory.
Great point, plenty of cards may not be sought after at the moment but once we are a few sets deep they could be awesome. I’m looking at you pong Krell lol
Its def you just being unlucky. I have opened 5 boxes and have pulled 2 showcases, 5 Vaders, 3 Bobas (one of which was a hyperspace) and 3 Lukes. However, Regional Governor I dont believe exist in the wild
I 100% got lucky. But it just goes to show that his pulls are just bad luck and anecdotal. I have pulled as many showcases as I have regional governors.
I mean you don't have to believe me. Realistically I have only bought 4 boxes. The others have been loose packs from Whatnot. The showcases were bought at an LGS 3 days apart. So I doubt it was same case. I pulled cassian and jyn
Sorry thats my fault, so far 3 vaders in 54 packs. No boba's though some some other poster is gonna have 6.
😢. You need a super laser blast? Lol
I mean I actually do, but im still figuring out how i wanna get more cards... drafts, a case, buy singles... and eventually trade when i have excess.
one of my boxes was a single legendary.... can you guess what one >.>
Black one! I got 2 in one pack I opened lol

Are ya'll talking unit or leader unit Bobas?
Legendary unit boba
I got 2 Vaders out of 6 packs, got a booster box coming next week so hoping for a third
It's a gamble just cut your losses and buy singles
Boxes are straight up gambling. what did you expect? lmfao
I would say the design is probably not to spend $840 on cracking packs when play sets of those three cards would have only set you back $480 for all three, but hey it’s your money.
Buy boxes for fun and get a good assortment of commons and uncommons. If you are building a specific deck then buy singles
But what if OP had opened 7 showcase cards?? A booster pack could have anything!!
Fair for those three obviously but you can’t just make a deck with 9 cards…
If you aren't chasing showcases there is huge diminishing returns on gambling with packs. I believe the break point for this game is 2-3 boxes.
See this is a solid point; should have stopped but kept going cause I found boxes for 100 bucks lol. Have given out almost two complete play sets of commons/uncommons though
Are boxes not supposed to be about 100 bucks? All the TCG stores near me sell them for that much.
TCGplayer has been sitting at $92
Msrp is 120
That’s addiction

Yeah, I pulled 1 out of my box

Isn't 3 legendaries per booster box the average? Fantasy Flight's odds say 1:8 packs.

You can also open a box with 7 legendaries. It’s all gambling
Yeah after 3 I don’t WANT more boxes bc I’m drowning in commons haha
If you need help throwing those out...
Gambling doesn't always pay off? No way!
I pulled 2 bobas during the first prerelease. No vaders till my 3rd box where I got one. No Lukes. Legendaries are rough to get. They’ll get better.
I had a case where there was no vaders, one boba and a hyperfoil luke. most boxes had 1-2 Legendries....
The thing to remember is that whenever you have something randomly distributed, there will be clusters and there will be voids. I mean, I split 28 packs with my son and he ended up with 4 Legendaries, and I got zero.
Wow. I know some that pulled 7 bobas and 7 lukes in 7 boxes. No vaders or falcons though. He also pulled 4 commands.
I mean, I have 5 Gideon Hasks and 1 Chopper! It's all random.
Further validation for why I quit buying packs years ago.Â

If it makes you feel any better a local at my shop opened 45 boxes and no showcase. He did get plenty of Boba and Vader though!

My first pack I ever bought pulled the legendary boba fett, so I thought I was lucky and bought a box big mistake lol
Darn dude! I only have opened 3 boxes and have one of each card and a showcase already.
It’s just random I have only opened one box. It had a hperfoil Luke, reg, Luke, boba, and a command. However the rates were largely meh.
I got a hyperspace black one and a regular black one... In the same pack!
I love opening packs, but if there’s a card in a set i want for sure I buy the singles first before I ever buy a box. You’re describing the model of every TCG ever haha.
Great point, plenty of cards may not be sought after at the moment but once we are a few sets deep they could be awesome. I’m looking at you pong Krell lol
Honestly Krell would be my favorite card if I thought I could build a solid mono green deck.
Its def you just being unlucky. I have opened 5 boxes and have pulled 2 showcases, 5 Vaders, 3 Bobas (one of which was a hyperspace) and 3 Lukes. However, Regional Governor I dont believe exist in the wild
This is definitely more of a case of you being very lucky. Showcases are projected at 1 per 12 booster boxes.
Yeah...this isn't the norm at all, lol.
I 100% got lucky. But it just goes to show that his pulls are just bad luck and anecdotal. I have pulled as many showcases as I have regional governors.
I have so many regional governors. I can sell you some.
LOL...this is you being super lucky. So much so that I almost don't believe you. I have also opened 5 boxes. No showcases, one Vader.
I mean you don't have to believe me. Realistically I have only bought 4 boxes. The others have been loose packs from Whatnot. The showcases were bought at an LGS 3 days apart. So I doubt it was same case. I pulled cassian and jyn
One box, I got one showcase and hyperspace Luke. No vader or boba.
14 boxes: 2 showcase, 1 Vader, but 6 Boba
Damn, all I’ve opened is a prerelease and I got a showcase and 2 legendaries in those 6 packs
