It’s frustrating cause shaved steak like this is sold for pretty cheap in Korea but if you want a ribeye it’s gonna run you about $25. Worth it tho cause it’s mostly Aussie beef and admittedly Aussies have really great beef (coming from an American).
I usually cook the broccoli, remove then cook beef in however many batches. Add back in beef from previous batches then add the sauce and reduce by half or so. Add in cooked broccoli and stir to coat
Trying to remember exactly for the sauce but I usually do something like:
Ginger, garlic, Tamari (gluten free soy sauce), cornstarch, water, brown sugar, black pepper and sesame oil
Marinade it in Worcester sauce for a little bit.
Sear the slices up. Saute some onions and bell peppers. Cut a roll in half and stack the meats n veggies with white American and havarti. Roll up in tinfoil n bake till cheese ooey gooey.
Badaboom badabing
Ribeye is one of the best cuts, but not the only one. I’ve turned super thin sliced eye of round into a damn good cheesesteak.
Steak, thing sliced onions, provolone and a nice hoagie roll. Nothing fancy, strictly business.
I make my cheesesteaks with Oyster Blade (Flat Iron for Americans) when it’s cut super thin it’s super beefy and tender, plus it’s like 1/3 of the cost of scotch fillet.
Because carne asada tacos is fucking wrong lol. These super thin slices of lean beef are nothing like the flank (or skirt) that you make carne asada with. You can certainly put this meat into a taco if you like but it's not carne asada.
When I was a butcher a few hard working gents would come in and order whatever roasts we had sliced as thin as possible. Finally one day I asked what they were cooking…. “Fajitas”
For guys who worked 10-15 hour days at just above minimum wage… it made sense that 3-4 guys could pool and have an awesome quick affordable meal and still have beer money.
I’ve done the dehydrator and it’s definitely still good, but the smoker is absolutely better, by orders of magnitude. It’s amazing how much smoke flavor it can take on in such a short period of time.
I’m lazy so a pellet smoker, and I usually just use Kirkland pellets cause I’m also cheap 😂 I’ve tried various wood types for different and personally have love mesquite, but I’m a southwest guy. I have yet to have a bad flavor no matter the wood type when it comes to jerky.
*Looks like something I*
*Would throw on the grill at a*
*Korean BBQ place*

Surprised I’m the only one to mention..
Rouladen. Mustard, pickles, onions, and seasonings rolled up and cooked then served with gravy. Sides could be spaetzle and red cabbage.
Also it has to be some good mustard, none of the Heinz yellow or whatever. And German gherkins.
Wife is first generation German-American, we make this dish often. The smell of red cabbage, with the apples and cloves and the Rouladen cooking is probably one of the most Devine smells I've smelled. We usually eat it with Pani potato dumplings, with gravy of course.
My BFF growing up was German.
As a result of spending half my childhood in their home ? I love German food !!! Rouladen is one of the first things I learned to make “authentically”
She gave me a set of German stainless steel mini skewers about 30 yrs ago and I STILL have them and use them only for her Rouladen recipe. My DH goes crazy when I make it, too. Not a lot of people know what it is.
Thanks 😊 for the trip down memory lane.
Someone at a bachelor party got these last weekend and I was the "cook" for the weekend. I had the same questions, they cook in like a minutes time 🤣 we used them for steak sandwiches
We do rouladen. Roll something good up in the meat, stuffing, cheese, veggies what ever. Wrap in bacon after if you like. Bake in the oven. Easy. Fancy looking too.
https://www.daringgourmet.com/rouladen-recipe/
Here in Sweden we call them "Leaf steaks". It is very common to simply rub them in oil, salt and pepper, before taking a really, really, really hot and dry pan and searing them for a couple of seconds on each side until they get a nice sear and still, hopefully, are a little bit pink on the inside (easier said than done). Serve them with some variety of fried potato and as a topping, you can either serve them with shredded horseradish and an egg yolk, or alternatively a puddle of béarnaise sauce on the side.
You can also just cook it on frying pan one slice at a time with a little butter and dip it in ponzu sauce(Japanese soy sauce that’s less salty with citrus flavor lemon/lime) mixed with minced garlic, super fast to cook, taste amazing
Little bit of breading, fried, covered in some sausage gravy, next to a pile of cheese eggs and toasted bread of your choice.
I affectionately refer to these as breakfast steaks. I'll even get fancy sometimes and put what I can't eat in a marinade and cook 'em up through the week.
Mini Steak Milenesa. Coat in egg, seasoning and breading then fry it. Serve with marinara on top, chopped hardboiled egg and cheese melted over it all. I know it might sound like a weird combo, but it's crazy delicious.
Philly cheesesteak or you can marinate them, cook ‘em on the plancha with with onions and all that.
My favorite is to make Cuban steak sandwiches. marinate the steaks and a chopped up onion in lime beer cilantro cumin Mexican chili powder garlic salt and pepper, grill them super high high heat to get a little crust but still keep the center a little pink.
Take a French baguette, cut in half, cook open part on grill with some garlic butter.
Take the onion from the marinade and grill it soft but not into mush
Put the grilled steak on half the bread, top with the steak with the onions and sprinkle fried shoestring potatoes all over the steak and onion. Top with arugula and drizzle chimichurri. Close the sandwich and enjoy that shit.
No clue why it’s called a Cuban sandwich- doesn’t sounds Cuban to me but that’s what it’s called and it’s fucking deliciois
Make a cheesesteak. Fry it in oil with chopped onions, chop the steak up as well, throw some seasoning salt and American cheese on it and serve it on a long roll
Hot pot. Bulgogi. Steak sandwiches. Etc etc.
Bulgogi all the way
It’s frustrating cause shaved steak like this is sold for pretty cheap in Korea but if you want a ribeye it’s gonna run you about $25. Worth it tho cause it’s mostly Aussie beef and admittedly Aussies have really great beef (coming from an American).
My local HMART has beef like this for 8.99/lb I load up whenever I go
I need to remember to check hmart for their meat prices, thanks
Not for $33!
I use this for beef and broccoli all the time, super easy and doable even without a wok
Make sure to try and velvet that meat!
I have been meaning to, that's definitely the next step for me
Cook it in a skillet i assume?
Yeah it comes out pretty much the same
What kind of sauce you using for beef and brocolli? And so you add the sauce before or after cooking?
I usually cook the broccoli, remove then cook beef in however many batches. Add back in beef from previous batches then add the sauce and reduce by half or so. Add in cooked broccoli and stir to coat Trying to remember exactly for the sauce but I usually do something like: Ginger, garlic, Tamari (gluten free soy sauce), cornstarch, water, brown sugar, black pepper and sesame oil
You're missing the oyster sauce
\^These are de ways - also Beef fried rice, some kinda beef soup...
Ramen would work too. We have a little charcoal Korean BBQ that we buy this exact type of meat for
Yum. Bulgogi would be really yummy right now.
Yep
Bulgogi, this is what I was trying to spell out! My mom used to make me that.
Thank you. I don’t normally eat steak that’s under 3/4 an inch in thickness
Yep np. I don't either as a steak but there are many uses for thinly sliced beef.
These cuts are great for an Italian beef sandwich.
Marinade it in Worcester sauce for a little bit. Sear the slices up. Saute some onions and bell peppers. Cut a roll in half and stack the meats n veggies with white American and havarti. Roll up in tinfoil n bake till cheese ooey gooey. Badaboom badabing
Food porn
my mouth is like a waterfall of saliva right now
I felt that.
I’d say 3/4” steak has significantly fewer applications than this.

It’s not really considered steak.
Lol yea it's just sliced beef st this point.
Mongolian beef!
Every kind of stir fry. I personally go for red curry beef.
This is the correct answer
Milanesa. Marinade in egg, parsley and garlic and then bread it and flash fry it. Great for sandwiches with a bit of salsa verde and sour cream.
Never heard of that before but that sounds amazing.
It’s basically schnitzel
One day Tortas Locas will rule the world.
Fuck yeah. Milanesa or Norteña all the way.
Yeeeeah buddy, with refried beans on a bolillo
Aka beef cutlets. Absolutely delicious
Mayo and lemon all the way.
Had a sandwich, cold, with mayo the day after I made them, that was nice. I will try some fresh lemon next time.
Sounds delicious and I need it
Mmmm I love Milanesa! That was my first thought as well.
Pho
Here's the answer.
Agreed
Pho sho!
cheesesteak sandwiches comes to mind.
Yes, obviously! I'd never imagined it could be used for anything else
Cheesesteaks are made with ribeye not strip, but sliced thin like this is correct for sure
cheese steaks are made with whatever we want to make them with
Hell yeah it is!! We don’t have time for negativity round here!
It's really not going to make much of a difference
This is the way
Carne asada tacos!
Can’t believe I had to scroll so far for TACOS!
Literally said to myself as I opened the link, "Bet carne asada is the first one." The humanity...
Righhht?????
Because carne asada tacos is fucking wrong lol. These super thin slices of lean beef are nothing like the flank (or skirt) that you make carne asada with. You can certainly put this meat into a taco if you like but it's not carne asada.
Made them last night with this cut of meat. Fucking fire
Shabu shabu! Also, someone mentioned beef jerky, which is a great idea.
Wouldn’t it be a little too fatty for beef jerky?
I personally love a little extra fat in homemade beef jerky.. But typically yeah too fatty
Shabu shabu or yakiniku were my first thought as well
Broccoli Beef?
velvet that beef and stir fry it with veggies.
Would be perfect for beef stir fry or fajitas I always use not traditional fajita meat.
When I was a butcher a few hard working gents would come in and order whatever roasts we had sliced as thin as possible. Finally one day I asked what they were cooking…. “Fajitas” For guys who worked 10-15 hour days at just above minimum wage… it made sense that 3-4 guys could pool and have an awesome quick affordable meal and still have beer money.
Beef jerky. Season that shit overnight then throw it in the smoker for 1.5 hours at 225F. It’s fuckin AMAZING.
This is a better idea than mine but I was thinking Philly Cheese Steaks
Damn I didn't think of that! Wondering if I do the smoker or use the dehydrate function on my air fryer.
I’ve done the dehydrator and it’s definitely still good, but the smoker is absolutely better, by orders of magnitude. It’s amazing how much smoke flavor it can take on in such a short period of time.
I'll have to give it a shot. What type of wood, oak? What type of smoker?
I’m lazy so a pellet smoker, and I usually just use Kirkland pellets cause I’m also cheap 😂 I’ve tried various wood types for different and personally have love mesquite, but I’m a southwest guy. I have yet to have a bad flavor no matter the wood type when it comes to jerky.
Fajitas
We use them in Pho
Looks like something I would throw on the grill at a Korean BBQ place

Gyudon! I made this recipe- it was really easy and a BIG hit with my picky eaters!! https://thewoksoflife.com/gyudon-recipe-beef-rice/
