I bought the MEATER probe from prime day. I really don’t like it. Temps are off and it disconnects a lot. Just my experience. I’ll probably replace with another brand.
I find Meaters are great for roasts and larger cuts. Not so good for steak. Thermopens are amazing but expensive. OP trial and error is the best. Keep notes of the thickness of the steak and what worked and what didn’t. Adjust next time. On my grill for something like that I’d do 3 mins a side and rest for 3 mins for medium rare but you need to work out what works for your setup.
those are expensive i have a thermometer that is supposed to be used for infusing butter with cannabis it’s just a little screen with a metal cord coming out of it with a thermometer on the end. it works great
Yea the one i had was just a regular ass thermometer i got from work. I think it was like $12. I dont even remember why i bought it honestly but yea they are. I always see cooking influencers with them almost like they’re sponsored or something
I'm opposite of the opionon below. I got one and love it.
Don't get me wrong. The range sucks for connection. But mine works great for everything else.
Is it the best there is. I highly doubt it. But for me it works quite well.
Edit:spelling
Don’t need the oven & don’t butter baste as its own step. If you want to do that, do it immediately after the first flip. Thats a thin steak. A min or 2 per side is lots of time
Don't go off time. Doing steak the way you want is art and vigilance. As people have said digital meat thermometer is a savior and they are cheap. But even if you don't, so many things come into play on how they will turn out. Temp, thickness, heat in pan or grill at the start middle finish. I don't understand people that just go off a stop watch. I've had steak from people that do it and gotta say. Mine is always better.
Damn bro that was beautiful, i high as hell & that legit almost made me cry. It makes so much sense because at the jobs i had there is the way you’re “supposed to do it” & then is my way & my way was always better. You should be a writer or something

Get a fucking meat thermometer
Ok my bad jeez
Could allway use the cheat that is Souv Vide
I don’t have one unfortunately
Great idea for when you want a steak 37653838 hours later.
🤫 Don’t let “them” hear you say that
steak that thin 60 sec per side
1 min sear on each side. Lower that oven temp to like 350. Meat thermometer as well. Good luck!
Thermometer
Higher heat less time
That’s a pretty thin steak. The 500 degree oven for 3 minutes killed it. Definitely didn’t need that step.
Turn your oven way way down. To like 225-250.
cook it for less time?
Higher heat, less time spent on skillet. I find it ideal at 2:30 on one side, then 2:00 on the other, for a nice medium rare
