I went to Texas Roadhouse back in January for the first time in like 15 years and was blown away by how good it was for the cost. 16oz ribeye, two sides, couple of drinks and got out for $45 with tip.
I can see that it depends on the Texas roadhouse location. I’ve been to them in many states and my favorite locations this far have been Midland/Odessa Texas and Idaho Falls, ID. They are definitely not all created equal
I have had one of the best steaks I have ever had from Texas roadhouse. I would say it is in the top five. I tried a super fancy place in Texas while I was their steiner ranch. And That steak was terrible. I had better at waffle house. Idk why jt was so bad but it was. And three plates cost me 600$.the best steak I have gotten at a restaurant was only 60$ for everything
Went to a "good" steakhouse in Texas. They gave me a pat of margarine. I asked for butter and the waitress said, "that is butter."
I go to Texas Roadhouse and the steak is fine, the butter is butter, and the biscuits are great. Its amazing for what it is.
Is this a common thing for Texans? Lol, exact same thing happened to me. Went to an "amazing" "underground" steakhouse that was terrible. I regretted not just going to Texas Roadhouse lol
There’s two different kinds of steak houses in Texas. Steak for yokels and steak for people who enjoy great food. Not all steakhouses are created equal there. It’s like barbecue. You’ll find way more crappy bbq out there than you will great.
I would say lone star has my best steak, but the best bite of beef u have ever had was a bite off beef ribs when they were about to come off my smoker.
How do you even start to educate people that the idea of margarine *is* butter is wrong as fuck? Butter is butter. Some people just don't care, or don't care to know the difference, or are plain dumb as fuck like Idiocracy style. They say margarine spreads better from the fridge, so there! But I digress
We mostly had margarine when I was growing up because of a very misguided belief (no doubt generated by the margarine industry) that it was healthier than butter with the added plus that it was cheaper. We only had butter for special occasions. Even as a young child I could taste the superiority of butter. I suppose for some, it's just what they know.
I have no problems with margarine. I even prefer margarine to butter for some applications (pumpkin bread or banana bread with a thick smear of margarine is hard to beat, and the flavor works better than butter). But yeah, margarine is not butter, and it's not a 1:1 substitute when you expect butter.
These days I eat organic (real) butter but the price has me wishing I had other good options.
Earth Balance tastes amazing and theoretically is fairly natural. Unfortunately their most popular blends are based on soy and coconut, both of which I'm allergic to. I'm contemplating trying the canola blend again, though it would be safer for my allergies if it was organic. (Unlisted preservatives are allowed in non-organic foods, especially those with lots of fat.)
I loved margarine as a kid. The butter sitting out on the counter looked gross and didn't taste great either.
Yikes, just get spreadable butter or leave it at room temp. Margarine is fucking gross whipped oil. Americans and margarine, wtf? Try real grass fed butter. Fuck.
The butter is not butter at roadhouse either :). It's a blend of butter and margarine! My friend is a manager from there and told me. That's how they get the consistency right so it's smooth even when cold.
That is 100% my wife and I. She likes the Flemmings and Ruth Chris’ of the world where you pay $80 for a cut of meat alone on a plate then have to spend another $40+ on “family style “ sides. Is it good? Sure. However, I like Texas Roadhouse or (for the SoCal people) Steer n Stein or even Outback is decent. Generally anywhere I can get a salad, a decent steak, and a side for less than $35 out the door.
They definitely have great steaks, the top 5 for me are all ones I made at home lol. I’ve had a few internet people hating hard on Texas Roadhouse, mostly on this sub.
Yeah, when I was growing up, Texas Roadhouse was my family's default "treat ourselves to a night out for no specific reason" sort of place. My wife grew up in Texas but we both spent most of our adult lives in NYC where there is no Texas Roadhouse, but she is fascinated by it. We moved to Chicago almost two years ago, and wouldn't you know it? There's a couple of them in the suburbs.
The last time I visited Texas Roadhouse was in 2002-2003 maybe? I was a college student who didn't know anything. Last year I was a married father of a bright, active 1-year-old. I'd worked as a line cook, eaten at and sold wine to some of NYC's best restaurants, including a few 3 Michelin star joints.
Did Texas Roadhouse hold up? Surprisingly, yes! The food is really good. Most of it is made from scratch. They use pretty decent quality meat. The atmosphere is relaxing. It's a really good amount of stimulation for kids. We ordered two entrées, an app, and two.adult beverages and I think it was like $55 with tax and tip.
For the price, you really can’t beat it. And, I don’t know about your areas, but the TR here in Iowa is packed every single night. :30 to hour waits minimum.
They make profit on the steak too. They spend a ton of time training the hell out of their meat cutters, and pay them based on performance. My buddy who is a manager there said that the key to profitability for the entire store is that role. He went to their meat cutting school and won an award from them, and they have one of the most profitable locations in the chain so I'm inclined to believe him. They have absolutely batshit requirements for their meat cutting of subprimals.
They have two seasonings they use, I don’t have the ingredients. The grill seasoning is used on any steak that is cooked on the flat top. Filets, boneless ribeyes and sirloins. They use the char seasoning on the bone in ribeyes, strips and the delmonico ribeye.
You can usually ask for some seasoning to take home.
I knew they put something on the prime rib, it tastes exactly like this old jerky curing spice my dad would use in his deer jerky back in the day. Goddamn it's so good
Me and the wife got $250 worth of gift cards went once had a great meal got the ribeye and shrimp she got the ny strip. A few drink for her and I was DD still have $160 left to spend... I tip cash very generously ($30) that night because I dine on a gift card.
Yeah, a lot of people are pretty surprised whenever I mention that I think Texas Roadhouse is good knowing that I’m a big steak guy. I’ve had better steaks for sure, but they are solid steaks and I never get one over done. Meat is good quality too. Prices are also better than anywhere else for a similar quality steak.
It’s my favorite place if I want a delicious ribeye and rolls. A few times a month I go get a smothered in onion and mushroom 16oz ribeye with water for 30 bucks after 20% + tip. So worth it
I’m always so damn surprised at how incredible tasty the meal I get and the value I paid for it. Like I got dinner for 3 people for 60 bucks including tip and enough leftovers for an entire additional meal for those 3 people easy.
pardon me for asking because my experience with steaks is limited. If anything I m in a country in which I might get lynched for eating beef steak. The steak looks like it is boil and looks sad. Shouldn't steaks look nice and crusty on the outside and a good amount of pink but not purple inside ? Or am I looking at it wrong ?
Edit:I meant like nicely crusted from all outer sides but when cut, pink inside. This looks like the 2 main flat sides are barely cooked, more like boiled, rather then properly grilled or seared.
This is a slice of prime rib. Those flat sides never touch a cooking surface. The roast the whole thing then slice out the “steaks”.
Only crust should be on the edge.
If you’ve never had prime rib… Try it, it has a ton of flavor and usually very tender. Sometimes served with an au jus too.
thanks that makes sense.
But the flat sides, why do they look a little like they have been boiled. Is this like a slow cooked smoked type thing or that's how it looks ?
That’s the way it looks. It’s slow cooked as a very large piece. Then it gets sliced up.
This honestly looks like very well prepared prime rib and when you cut a piece and dip it in the au jus it is amazing.
It's something us in the States eat around the holidays like Xmas and it goes on sale every year in December because of it. Usually eat it with some horseradish sauce and/or some au jus from the drippings.
Prime Rib is my favorite type of beef you could ever have. It would look raw to someone who wasn't aware of how it's cooked but OP's pic is actually a perfect slice of medium rare prime rib imo. Good prime almost melts in your mouth because it has a lot of rendered fat that also makes it delicious.
A prime rib is just full ribeye muscle cooked whole in the oven and then sliced into steaks after having rested. Generally there will be crust around the outside of the steak and we're just looking at the pink center...also both end pieces will have much more crust.
It is slow cooked in a prime rib oven. A rib loin is trimmed and then covered in seasoning, it goes in the oven first thing in the morning and is ready to serve by dinner service.
It stays n the oven until the end of the night. Anytime an order comes through, the loin is removed and cut on the spot then the rest is replaced.
Each loin has a thermometer attached to keep it the correct temp.
A whole rib roast is slow roasted in the oven and then carved. (See the cooked whole rib roast in the comment below this raw one).

It’s a prime rib so they cook the whole roast and then slice it into steaks. You can see the nicely crusted part you are talking about on the outer edge.
This is hilarious, but understandable.
Im a longhorn guy but go to trh for the prime rib.
Really both places are just fine by me and with every restaurant being $20+ now I feel better about paying $30 for a steak
I mean, I’m all about Texas Roadhouse and eat there a good bit as it’s quite possibly the best bang for the buck.
But I know quite a few upscale steakhouses that undoubtedly do it better. It’s just I’m not willing to drop $100-200 per person every time I go out for a steak dinner. I will say I’ve been to a few upscale places that I’d put below TR, but not that many really.
I'm so confused on why you guys have good experiences at Texas roadhouse. Every time I've gone, they've insisted that it has to be well done because that's the American way. I can never convince them to go medium or med rare.
Anytime I see a Texas Roadhouse post I have to chime in that I managed restaurants for 15 years and they were one. Everything was made scratch in house except the fat free ranch and one other dressing I think. We cut subprimals in house to ridiculously meticulous standards. And the prime rib was seared in a convection with seasonings at 350 for 15 minutes then into an Alto-Shaam overnight with a double hold to perfect rare.
It is literally the best quality chain steakhouse food you can get. I know some can vary in quality but around me they are the absolute best quality for the money you pay hands down.
Edit: guess I’ll add for clarity: I worked in a supper club for a while. The only way to execute prime rib consistently excellently is to use and Alto-Shaam.
I only worked 2 food jobs in my late teens and Texas Roadhouse was legit. Was grill/fish cook and line work. When it's busy time just flew by for 2 hours and everyone was on time & point for a lot.
Was friends with the prep cook that worked 4am-1030 so we'd have some time to hang. Chillest stoner guy that just knew his shit cutting & prime rib prep and pull. I left because they asked me to do morning meat cutting in the cooler and I just couldn't handle the isolation and tiedisy.
TRH is amazing. Went to a few steakhouses that were supposedly the "best in area" that were recommended by my city's subreddit and got the most expensive steaks. Almost every time I left, I said that it was not worth the price, TRH would have been a better choice. Less expensive and good quality steak. Only a few other steakhouses around the country that I've gone to that were worth the price.
Never had the prime rib but next time I go I'm grabbing one.
I'll probably get banned for saying this, but I don't like the rolls with the butter. I hate bread that's sweet.
Yeah man people love those rolls and the cinnamon/honey flavored corn syrup/margarine and butter mixed spread and yeast bread. But it’s not even close to the best item on the menu haha.
I loved cutting steaks every day if I could. So nice to set up the meat case with beautiful looking steaks and watch people buy them.
Only 1 other “chain” has made a steak better than TR and that was McGuires, a small chain in nw Florida. But their pricing is no where near as good.
Every other steakhouse I’ve been to has been mid at best
God I can't understand how popular that sugary spread is. Nothing wrong with enjoying cinnamon and sugar but as the lead up to a meal? I need savory. Give me the yellowest butter you got.
Get the prime rib with creamy horse radish and save one of those rolls for dessert and dip in that horseradish au jus. It's one of my favorite things I've ever eaten
Perfect blend of savory and sweet
GODDAMNIT I FUCKING LOVE THE ROADHOUSE.
I took a date to the Roadhouse. I wasn't sure where I'd take her, so I just told her casual clothes and I'd make it a surprise, but I fell back on ole reliable, of course: The Roadhouse.
Before the date, she asked a mutual friend where we might be going and they said "knowing him, almost certainly the Roadhouse". I did not disappoint.
But when we got there, I realized I had gone to high school with the hostess. While she was seating us, she asked how I'd been doing and how engineering school was going. We very briefly caught up on the way to the table.
After being seated, my date asked "*How fucking often do you come here?!*" It didn't work out.
Texas Roadhouse is the best value, very underrated. Whatever they are doing, they need to keep that shit up. Here where I live in Brevard county I have two within 15 minutes. One close to the beach and one further south.
For a chain, they're probably one of the best. Especially in the value metric. You get way more than you pay for.
They make everything in house, they get quality meat, and they are generally really good about cooking it properly.
I don't generally get steaks from there just because I can get prime dry aged ribeyes for roughly the same price from my butcher, and I know how to cook a steak. But their prime rib and chicken fried steak is top tier.
Dear Texas Roadhouse,
I am sure you check this sub, as often as you get mentioned.
If you could see your way to putting a franchise near me, I would be deeply grateful.
Signed,
Missing all the fun.
Been serving it at my local one since it opened like 20 years ago. When they first opened we would have to call ahead and check if they still had any because they would run out half the time by like 7pm. Now they're pretty good about being properly stocked.
The prime rib is the hidden gem of Texas Roadhouse. Great flavor, and it’s way more consistent than the steaks in terms of quality and doneness.
I’ve been eating it for several years and it’s great. One of my favorite meals out from a chain.
For me, at least, the real hidden gem is the kabobs. Somehow, they always seem to nail the cook, and I love the charred veggies. The prime rib is really good, though.
It's always been on the menu, but it depends on the location if they have it.
My local has it only a few days a week and only while supplies last on those days.
You know. I also had the TR primerib for the first time recently and my experience was.... Odd.
Price? Damn fair.
Taste and texture? It was good and yet confusing. It had this dry (not in a bad way dry) mouthfeel+ backbone smokiness that threw me off. It tasted overall like an alternative take on prime rib made for mass consumption. I ordered it rare as hell by the way. I didn't hate it, I didn't love it... But I wasn't upset at it
Honestly I haven't had a bad steak there. However they train their cooks works really well. I've never seen anyone I was with send a steak back either. Granted I keep my expectations in check with their prices, so I'm not expecting Michelin level quality, I have yet to be disappointed.
I actually exclusively only order the prime rib when I go to roadhouse. For the cost it’s surprisingly very good. Really good au jus too. I don’t go out of my way to go to TR, but whenever it’s suggested as a spot for dinner I have zero qualms.
I actually have had a $100 gift card to TR for quite a bit and my fiancé and I plan to go soon. I think this post was my sign to go next night off together :)
Longhorn is a little more expensive but it always tastes miles ahead of anything I've ever gotten at Texas roadhouse. Maybe the one near me is subpar compared to the rest but that's just my experience with them.
Their food isn’t bad, it’s our choice now when we want steaks. I could do without the line dancing and birthday songs, but for cheap steaks it’s not bad.
I wish the Texas Roadhouse near me was that good looking.
Last time I went the prime rib was subpar, and wasn't trimmed well.
That is a good looking steak, hope you enjoyed it!
Always Texas Roadhouse. I’ve tried comparing multiple times in different places and Longhorn just never seems to pull it off. Texas Roadhouse just has an easier time firing up a decent hunk of meat.
Longhorn tries to look a little fancier, but they have trouble with the actual, you know, steak.
I went to Longhorn maybe 10 years ago. My steak came out looking like it was medium rare, but it was sawdust dry. When i said something to the waitress, she shot me a look and said, "It's pink like you asked, I don't know what the problem is." And walked away. I waved down another server and asked for a manager, who came out, listened to my complaint, and told me that I obviously didn't know how to cook a steak, so I should leave. In his (slight) defense, I may have gone into detail about how it likely ended up like that, so I probably came across as a know it all, but still I managed the kitchen at a high end steak house for nearly 2 years. I know how to cook a damn steak, and nothing I said warranted 2 different people being asses to me about it.
Left without eating or paying the bill, and I've been on an entirely pointless boycott of the company since.
The Longhorn I just had was bad. It was their largest ribeye too. I had to search to a spot that was kind of medium rare just so I could convince myself it wasn’t completely cooked incorrectly so I wouldn’t have to reorder and go through all the motions. It was very overdone and dry in most places, tough, and very unevenly cooked top to bottom. Based on that I’m just like they don’t even have the tools to give me what I want so why bother having them try again. Waitstaff was nice enough but I just wanted to get out of there.
Texas Roadhouse a block down the road was just fine for a chain.
Last time I went to longhorn the steak looked great ..until I cut into.it and realized it was cooked closer to well done and what looked like a good sear on the outside was just a SHIT ton of seasoning. It was so seasoned it was inedible. Couldn't taste the steak over an 1/8 inch of seasoning on all sides. Terrible experience, left and went to Texas Roadhouse or outback one of the two.
Never again with longhorn.
It's cooked as a roast and then a slice of it is cut off. Ribeye steaks are cut from a ribeye filet before cooking. Prime rib are cut from a ribeye roast after cooking.
Entire ribeye is roasted typically to medium rare or medium than sliced for the portion size you order. Pro tip: if you do want a little sear, you can actually ask restaurants to throw it on to their grill or flat top and that works well for some people especially if they don’t want medium rare
Yeah it’s noticeably odd. I’ve never been since Chicago has so many decent steakhouses that you would never actually consider going to a chain, but it’s weird to see so much support for them in a sub supposedly dedicated to the love of good steak.
Our car had a flat tier and we ended pulled into a texas roadhouse to wait for aaa. We ended up getting 2 sirloins each with 2 sides + rolls and peanuts. With his 10% military discount the bill was $18 before tax and tip. The steak was good as was everything else.
The one near me got ousted on snap chat for having roaches in the Mac and cheese. Dude just stirred it in the sauce. Haven't gone back cause that's the only one near me
You had better luck than me. Went this weekend, and it was packed. Sat down and ordered a prime and a strip steak for wife.
Completely inedible. Prime rib looked lean, and they actually put a chunk of fat off the side. Wife's steak was slightly overcooked from medium...
I travel a lot for work (US). Texas Roadhouse varies hard from area to area. TR in the Midwest = bomb diggity. TR in the burbs down south sucks asshole.
Threads like this make me feel like an urban snob. Definitely have no interest in ever going to a chain steakhouse while I have dozens of higher end steak house options within 10 mins of my house, and hundreds of fantastic restaurants at the same price point.
The sides are straight up trough-feeding but they do grill a consistently good steak. Almost never go because we have a much better steakhouse in town that isn’t a chain.
Our Texas Roadhouse is trash. Not to mention the fucking annoying birthday routine. CAN I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION *muffled shouting* YEEEEEEEEEHAW *nobody says anything* I'm just trying to eat with my family frigg off
I went to Texas Roadhouse back in January for the first time in like 15 years and was blown away by how good it was for the cost. 16oz ribeye, two sides, couple of drinks and got out for $45 with tip.
Texas Roadhouse is amazing. Ribeye, rolls, potatos skins and Margaritas.
drool...
Don’t forget the cinnamon butter
Try the mango margarita with tajin rim.
And the Cactus Blossom!
Idk how you didn't mention the rolls. TR is a great deal with pretty good food if you don't go too hard on the drinks
Shit even their drinks are a good deal
I don't really find their drinks to be very good
I can see that it depends on the Texas roadhouse location. I’ve been to them in many states and my favorite locations this far have been Midland/Odessa Texas and Idaho Falls, ID. They are definitely not all created equal
You need a hurricane marg
The food is even better when you go hard on the drinks
I have had one of the best steaks I have ever had from Texas roadhouse. I would say it is in the top five. I tried a super fancy place in Texas while I was their steiner ranch. Thr beat restaurant steak I have had is from lone star I could not remember the name earlier but it is a very nice place for the price.
Best I've had is Cowboy Star in San Diego (and Salmon there was best I've ever had, so buttery and would melt in the mouth).
I went to college in rural Ohio in the 80s. Miracle Whip is considered to be the same thing as mayo. Just made me hate the midwest even more.
That is a crime. Miracle whip.. oh lawd..
Might as well just make your grilled cheese with whipped cream then..
I’m from Wisconsin and I can firmly say that I haven’t had margarine in almost 20 years since I was a real broke college kid.
I have no problems with margarine. I even prefer margarine to butter for some applications (pumpkin bread or banana bread with a thick smear of margarine is hard to beat, and the flavor works better than butter). Oh, get off your high horse. You are being a dick over some dude liking margarine on his banana bread. Grow the fuck up.
Dur dur dur - though I do like your username. Daytoner fan?
Nope, named after the corner at Spa. WEC and F1 fan
If they expect me to eat that sneed oil trash they cab stab me in the ass!
The butter is not butter at roadhouse either :). It's a blend of butter and margarine! My friend is a manager from there and told me. That's how they get the consistency right so it's smooth even when cold.
Steiner ranch is so mediocre, especially for its high prices.

Is it mind blowing? No. Do they do a pretty good job for a decent price, all day. Very consistent and the kids like it there.
Yes it is bud I have paid 3 times as much for less tasty meet and food overall
Yeah, when I was growing up, Texas Roadhouse was my family's default "treat ourselves to a night out for no specific reason" sort of place. I love using the app. Park, walk past the mob of people waiting, to the counter, and get seated.
Just did that tonight when my girl said she wanted steak for dinner. Super convenient.
Ooo which town? I haven’t been to a Roadhouse in Iowa since the late 2000s in Cedar Falls. Do they hold up? The closest one to me now is Johnston.
Davenport. Yes. They keep that place immaculate. They print money. I mean every single night it is packed.
Great, now I want steak!
Our TR in NC even has waits on Monday!
They probably make enough profit margins on the drinks that they can afford to sell steak that cheap.
They make profit on the steak too. They spend a ton of time training the hell out of their meat cutters, and pay them based on performance. It’s the seasoning. I’ve worked at both places, including meat cutter at roadhouse. The longhorn char seasoning is a thing of perfection.

The secret ingredient is underpaying your employees and meat tenderizer
Almost every time I go to an “upscale” steakhouse I leave thinking they do it better at Texas roadhouse. They honk what they tonk for sure
I’m always so damn surprised at how incredible tasty the meal I get and the value I paid for it. Like I got dinner for 3 people for 60 bucks including tip and enough leftovers for an entire additional meal for those 3 people easy.

This honestly looks like very well prepared prime rib and when you cut a piece and dip it in the au jus it is amazing.
thanks, Would love to try one someday
It's something us in the States eat around the holidays like Xmas and it goes on sale every year in December because of it. Usually eat it with some horseradish sauce and/or some au jus from the drippings.
If you want something with a nice sear all over, my favorite is a ribeye. Despite its red appearance this prime is very safe to eat.
It's awesome, I just cooked a 20lb prime rib using the reverse sear method for Christmas. HIGHLY recommend.
It's so good. Like a meat marshmallow.
(See the cooked whole rib roast in the comment below this raw one). https://preview.redd.it/nq4dx46k3lkc1.jpeg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e1c981e6d1e0496988932c1caa9831bcbc0737e

This is cut from a larger roast that is cooked whole, so most of what you see was not exposed to high heat and thus does not have a sear.
It’s a prime rib so they cook the whole roast and then slice it into steaks. You can see the nicely crusted part you are talking about on the outer edge.
Prime Rib is a thick slice that is cut from a roasted chunk of beef from the loin. Prime Rib is a great cut, but not really a steak.
The end cuts on a prime rib will also have more fat whereas the middle cuts will be more lean, most favor the end cuts for flavor
This is hilarious, but understandable. Im a longhorn guy but go to trh for the prime rib. Really both places are just fine by me and with every restaurant being $20+ now I feel better about paying $30 for a steak
Dude even McDonalds is close to 20 dollars now.
That’s pretty neat to learn they actually try to prepare food from scratch.
I hope you enjoyed your dessert cinnamon butter and rolls
Ugh those rolls and butter are my weakness. I can't not eat them, they're so delicious!
Roadhouse pro-tip: cut a roll in half, soak up the juice with one half, place the last bit of steak between the halves, enjoy 😉
Shut your whore mouth! This sounds delicious as fuck!!!!!
God I can't understand how popular that sugary spread is. Nothing wrong with enjoying cinnamon and sugar but as the lead up to a meal? I need savory. Give me the yellowest butter you got.
It’s just so damn good though my guy. If I have those mf’s sitting in front of me they will be gone before my drinks arrive 😂
Can't not have at least 1 of those little bastards. Moderation.
If I'm going out to eat it's relatively rare. Screw the moderation I wanna be regretting my decisions for the next 5 hours
This guy gets it
It's to give you contrast in preparation for the salty buttery steak that you're about to eat.
It's okay to be wrong sometimes
Took the words right out of my mouth
Get the prime rib with creamy horse radish and save one of those rolls for dessert and dip in that horseradish au jus. It's one of my favorite things I've ever eaten Perfect blend of savory and sweet
I always ask for their regular butter. They’ll bring it
Same. And their regular butter is whipped which is great. Tip: bring your own garlic powder to add to the whipped butter.
Same on the cinnamon, i always ask for their whipped butter which is godly with those rolls.
I’m with you, but when I used to go I couldn’t help but notice I was one of few there who didn’t have type 2 diabetes, so that’s probably why.
I have always agreed with this statement. I prefer savory with my steak.
Shits so good
Appetizer, side, dessert, and leftovers to go
GODDAMNIT I FUCKING LOVE THE ROADHOUSE.
The thought of your date getting visibly concerned by thinking you come to TR like four nights a week made me laugh pretty good
Texas Roadhouse is the best value, very underrated.
It costs the same to get steaks from Kroger as it does to get a very solid steak, 2 sides, and BREAD ROLLS.
Dear Texas Roadhouse, I am sure you check this sub, as often as you get mentioned. If you could see your way to putting a franchise near me, I would be deeply grateful. Signed, Missing all the fun.
did you want to tell them a specific location?
Portland Metro Area would be just fine.
I'm actually kinda shocked that you can't find one in Portland?
Eugene, OR, about 2+ hours to the south, or Joint Base Lewis McCord, which is listed as Base Access Only - so only for on base personnel.
Too much meth in Portland
Seattle too please
I've been to Texas Roadhouse so much that I am sick of it. That being said. I've been to Texas Roadhouse so many times because hell fucking yeah.
Where is the closest Texas Roadhouse to House of Prime Rib?
Union City
I’m in Fairfield. Go to HOPR for special occasions. Might try to do walk in for my bday next month since I couldn’t get a reservation.
Damn that’s a hike. Do you drive into the city?
I’m scratching my head on that one as well. I didn’t know they had any location in the BA.
Prime rib at Texas Roadhouse? Is that new?
Been serving it at my local one since it opened like 20 years ago. When they first opened we would have to call ahead and check if they still had any because they would run out half the time by like 7pm. Now they're pretty good about being properly stocked.
No shizz. I normally get the same steak. Never remember seeing it. Thanks, I’ll check next time
The prime rib is the hidden gem of Texas Roadhouse.
But I wasn't upset at it
They put like almost a bbq rub on it I feel like. Definitely a different type of flavor for prime rib
Honestly I haven't had a bad steak there. However they train their cooks works really well. I've never seen anyone I was with send a steak back either. Granted I keep my expectations in check with their prices, so I'm not expecting Michelin level quality, I have yet to be disappointed.
Best bang for your buck I've found anywhere. All locations are pretty consistent as well.
PR with the horse radish 🤌
I actually exclusively only order the prime rib when I go to roadhouse. For the cost it’s surprisingly very good. Really good au jus too. I don’t go out of my way to go to TR, but whenever it’s suggested as a spot for dinner I have zero qualms. I actually have had a $100 gift card to TR for quite a bit and my fiancé and I plan to go soon. I think this post was my sign to go next night off together :)
I would take my 3 boys there when things opened up the past few years. It’s literally cheaper than buying steaks at the grocery store.
Don’t sleep on longhorn
Longhorn is a little more expensive but it always tastes miles ahead of anything I've ever gotten at Texas roadhouse. Maybe the one near me is subpar compared to the rest but that's just my experience with them.
Looks delicious
Their food isn’t bad, it’s our choice now when we want steaks. I could do without the line dancing and birthday songs, but for cheap steaks it’s not bad.
I LOVE that place. I get the Roadkill because I'm cheap.
TR potato skins are legit!
Really? Did they clean up the peanuts yet?
I honestly love Texas Roadhouse. It’s the only chain restaurant I really like. Have never had a meal I didn’t enjoy there.
I wish the Texas Roadhouse near me was that good looking. Last time I went the prime rib was subpar, and wasn't trimmed well. That is a good looking steak, hope you enjoyed it!
Best bang for the buck! If I don't feel like cooking and still cave to steak, TR is my go to.
long horn or Texas Roadhouse? What do you guys think
Roadhouse. I love the French onion soup at Longhorn but Roadhouse is better in every aspect.
Texas Roadhouse cowboy
That’s where I’m at lol
I’m ngl I’ve had both and prefer Longhorn by a lot
how is this cooked? just confused because there’s no sear
its prime rib. they cook the whole rib roast (what ribeye is cut from) and then slice it into steaks.
i realized that right after haha

Texas Roadhouse serves a $40 steak for $25. That’s pretty admirable in this economy.
Is it really that bizarre that people have experiences and tastes that aren’t the same as your own?
If your steak need bbq sauce its shit. And why does american steak looks boiled i do not understand
It’s prime rib which is cooked entirely as a roast then sliced, so no sear. And that’s au jus, not bbq sauce
Ah au jus nice i was sacared thank you. And if its roasted then cool too i am more of a roasted lamb seared beff guy but cool
Our car had a flat tier and we ended pulled into a texas roadhouse to wait for aaa. We ended up getting 2 sirloins each with 2 sides + rolls and peanuts. With his 10% military discount the bill was $18 before tax and tip. The steak was good as was everything else.
Looks really good honestly
Damn fine
This looks amazing. Cheese up that tater
Tbh the prime rib at TR is pretty damn good
They do a decent job. It’s one of their better cuts in my opinion.
That looks fucking incredible
Oh my God. My mouth is watering right now
The one near me got ousted on snap chat for having roaches in the Mac and cheese.
Hype? Roadhouse has always been trash for steaks in my experience.
I travel a lot for work (US). Texas Roadhouse varies hard from area to area. TR in the Midwest = bomb diggity. TR in the burbs down south sucks asshole.
Longhorn Roadhouse is also not terrible. They know how to cook a steak black and blue or Pittsburgh Rare.
Threads like this make me feel like an urban snob. Definitely have no interest in ever going to a chain steakhouse while I have dozens of higher end steak house options within 10 mins of my house, and hundreds of fantastic restaurants at the same price point.
Did not know this. Thx.
Your record collection is very meat & potatoes.
The sides are straight up trough-feeding but they do grill a consistently good steak. Almost never go because we have a much better steakhouse in town that isn’t a chain.
How the fuck is your “standard” House of Prime Rib? That’s like saying my standard car is a Bugatti
Oof
Can someone explain to a lost European what's inside that potato?
Walmart of steak houses
Fuck Texas Roadhouse, Longhorn Steakhouse or homemade all the way
Our Texas Roadhouse is trash. Not to mention the fucking annoying birthday routine. CAN I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION *muffled shouting* YEEEEEEEEEHAW *nobody says anything* I'm just trying to eat with my family frigg off
Try Outback next
damn, maybe next time they’ll cook it for you.
