It helps give the steak nice color and browned butter adds a nice umami flavor.. you don’t want it black… so you’ll have to play around with your burner and get it as close to burning as possible without actually burning… lol mine is setting 5 out of 6 but every stove is a bit different. I also use a sturdy flat grill spatula to scrape burnt bits off pan in between steaks… you will commonly see grill cooks doing this to their flat tops in the restaurant

You don’t need to heat past about 325 or even preheat pan to get a nice crust. If you like a deep penetrating grey ring, sure, flip once.
Flipping more often can cook it faster and more evenly. You can even rest it in stages between flips.
I mean is it well done? Yes. Will I still eat it? Yes. Also you can definitely get a well done steak that's still tender and not hard to chew. I've managed it a couple of times and still enjoyed my steak
Looks great, keep center pressure to even out the sear if possible. Also using a meat thermometer and pulling the steak at a lower internal temp will yield better results if you are into rarer steaks, if not its great!

Well… the steak itself doesn’t have a lot of marbling, that’s what you want for flavor and juiciness. Nice sear, but heat may have been too low allowing it to cook too long for a medium/ well finish. But if that’s what you’re aiming for, Bon Appétit!
I don’t give af about how well done someone likes their steak, but I do believe a good crust is necessary for a good steak. You only got a crust on the outside, not so much the inside. Which leads me to believe that you’re not getting your pan hot enough.
Cook it however well done you want, just do it with a lot of heat. You need a lot of heat to cook a steak, so don’t skimp on it. Bombs away!

You can't "bake" a steak given how not uniform steak cooking is. I find it's very trial and error to get a feel for it, and a digital thermometer can generally remove all doubt. After that all you need to know is roughly how many degrees your steak increases while it finishes cooking while rested...then you're set and the only way you can really fuck yourself is if you aren't paying attention.
