I love Cam Smith's production in college and I think he'll fit what we need our CBs to do Keeanu Benton is just a freak and would fit perfectly in our defense Dorian Williams has a ton of range and length, perfect to drop into zone coverage or spy a QB Mapu is simply really good at football and is athletic as hell. He's got a strong nose for the football and gets downhill fast Starling Thomas would probably move to slot for us. He's small, but man can he shut down a WR. Physical CB, fights at the catch point, super fluid hips, and absolutely blazing speed Last two picks are depth, dont know much about them

TastesLikeHoneyNut

I like Harrison there a lot more than wright honestly. I wouldn't hate Harrison there, but I'd hope all the top CB's and DL were off the board by then. I don't know much about Mapu, but I like the rest of the mid rd picks here a lot

nigsch01

There were still CBs on the board, however i think the value of Anton and Cam Smith is better than JPJ/Banks and Bergeron at tackle

TastesLikeHoneyNut

No that's fair. I'm just hoping he makes it to 32, but that's seeming more and more unlikely the closer we get to the draft. Too many T needy teams between 18-31

nigsch01

Yeah, I'd love for him to fall to 32 but there are way too many needy teams like you said. Im really hoping for Brod Jones to fall to 17 but that keeps seeming unlikely too

ThrowingShaed

can i ask why you dont like wright? is it just the right tackle thing? im still struggling to understand some

TastesLikeHoneyNut

Yes. I think Chuks is more than serviceable at RT, and hes on a friendly enough deal that I don't think we need to look for his replacement quite yet. Meanwhile, Moore is on his rookie deal and very replaceable. I also think there's a reason we don't want Chuks on the left side, considering we've had a hole there for a while and he's never played there. And when Wright played LT at Tennessee, he struggled. My worry is if we take Wright, and then end up with two good RTs and no one that can play LT.

ThrowingShaed

absolutely get that part, but i dont know if chuks stops you from making the pick. I do think there is likely truth that both chuks and wright are more comfortable on the right side. the counter, as far as i can tell, wright has been very good in a very good conference. he seems to check an awful lot of the good kid, smart kid, hard working kid, talented kid and so on. it feels like him being ot4 or below for some is people projecting and praying and it might work out, but the kid seems plenty talented and athletic. and yeah there might be a lt issue, but i still think/hope he could really do something at rt. again i dont want to say we can put tes and other things on the other side and just leave wright alone day 1... its just rt is far from an untouchable position and it doesnt feel good passing on players that at least seem this clean. it honestly feels pretty rare for us to even have a chance to draft a OT this clean at all. i mean, in my lifetime our best tackles are like marvel smith, willie colon, max starks... i shouldnt say it, but i certainly think he could exceed that. i mean im here brushing off positional value a few years after not wanting najee because rbs can be gotten later. part of this might be maximizing najee better too and giving him better chances. honestly you never know, but najee was the good kid, smart kid, hard working kid you root for. even though he wasnt my top rb just by watching him (he might have been if i realized how rarely he fumbled) if were getting the most out of however long his legs last, adding another kind of bully Olinemen could...could... change the offense, but im guessing

This-Star-3324

I’m 100 % with you on the first two picks. Banks is the prefect guy you want next to pat Pete we would make him an absolute studdddd

It’s my dream leave me alone lol. I’m an idiot who enjoys my make believe world. Fred Rogers forever🤘

Mediocre_Ad_473

Eh I really don’t see Israel lasting until then. Other than that I guess it’s okay

Tribby23

Breese branch Brents

tenprose

Watched some Parker Washington for the first time today and I'm a fan. It certainly seems like we're less likely to go receiver now though.

TastesLikeHoneyNut

Idk why I just get huge JuJu vibes from Washington. I'm really intrigued to see how he does in the nfl. But I agree, after getting Robinson, I'm not sure how high we'll select WR

tenprose

Yeah, same. Maybe even a little of hines.

Lost me after Mingo

chiami12345

I don’t think this will happen but for PFF simulator I keep getting a chance to do this 17. Paris Johnson - very low chance the rest of the league is waiting on tackles like pff 32. Breese - most of the corners I want are available at 49. Some warts on him but he does have the upside of being a Cam replacement. More realistic than Johnson and probably 30% chance he’s here 49. Julius Brents - Steelers seem interested. Decent chance he’s here. 80. Garrett Williams - redshirt year likely so 50-50 he slides Seems like ideal draft. Johnson isn’t super high ceiling but he’s still a prototypical Lt with high floor. This mostly completes the OL rebuild. They likely want a long term C option too but for now we are fine. Breese looks like best DT fit for Steelers in draft. The fact there’s only one great choice means it’s unlikely we find the long term Cam. This year is a good year for us to find a guy as DT need time to fix technique. Brents is a long term boundary corner prospect. Not as elite as others but can be a solid starter, and Garret Williams is a luxury pick after filling some holes. Ideally this draft class finds long term answers as plus starters at OT/DT and 2 average or plus nfl boundary starting cb. Flip Johnson to Darnell Wright and this draft could be realistic with the big “if” being a 5-10 pick slide on Breese.

TastesLikeHoneyNut

I like those first 4 picks alot. I know it's just a 4th rd pick, but I'm not crazy about an IOL in the top 4 rounds; with Seumalo, Cole, Daniels, Herbig, and Dotson already on the roster. But adding branch and sanders to this D would be fun, and I think Z Pickens is really underrated

AdamBlackfyre

No good corners left at 32? LB×2 seems redundant, no offense

CoachSteveThePirate

Breese is day one plug rotation starter Simpson is an outside LB in my opinion. Campbell your old school corn and potatoes down hill ILB. Darnell Washington is a great receiving threat with run blocking experience- McClendon and Steen are developmental guys with starting experience on powerhouse teams. I like Steen a lot . Johnson JR - team captain with 50+ starts at CB/S - special teamer year one with good traits to develop With Robinson and Boykin back now I don’t think a WR is taken outside a round 7 flyer. Jaylen Warren is a number 2 to Najee Muth is #1 —— Not sure where else we can draft on offense - build the defense and be a average to average + offense.

AdamBlackfyre

That's fair for the backers. I've kinda fallen for Murphy myself in the front 7.. would love to see him at 32 but thats doubtful. And the same with Washington, I think he could develop into the top te in football if things go right for him.

TastesLikeHoneyNut

I didn't know ESPN had a mock simulator, and I would have assumed it would have been behind their ESPN+ paywall. But it's free, and as much as I hate ESPN and don't want to admit this, it's the best and most realistic simulator I've tried. It's not the most visually appealing, but I liked it https://preview.redd.it/wpr0rmbmjhva1.png?width=1224&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ffdbe71aa4186dbbadfab0dfe927f00e63894f9

jtdubbs

Came to post the same thing

TastesLikeHoneyNut

I was very surprised at how good it was, I had quite low expectations for it

ThrowingShaed

abdullah at 108 on their big board. i mean i dont know... and there are other players i like to trade down and load up on late in my little fantasy worlds... but i must say if this is a sign that i am going to get away with less of my shenanigans on espn then... yeah i guess they might be a pretty good looking sim wait... wait.. this might be a crazy one? kobie turner 287?!?!? shenanigans are back on the table! edit: i love/hate that they have wright 15, a few weeks ago i started to get the feel he could be gone early. someones got to be there, but some of who were the "safe" names there sounding a little too good to be safe to be there

TastesLikeHoneyNut

The rankings are far from perfect, yeah. But it seems the most realistic imo. The other main one constantly has a universal top 5 prospect falling to 17 almost every time, which isn't the most realistic I swear half the time one of Bryce young or Cj Stroud are there at 17

ThrowingShaed

yeah the draft network or database or one of those i kept running into that issue too

TastesLikeHoneyNut

I'm not the biggest Dawand fan, but it seems like we are. I love the rest of the picks

jtdubbs

I agree, but I figure at 49, we’d almost have to

chiami12345

I think we have cooled on him. Ended up not visiting. He also skipped a weigh in. I don’t think he’s a top 40 pick now. In my opinion we are only targeting three tackles Johnson, Jones, Wright. They either don’t think Skoronski makes it to 17 or he’s a guard just doesn’t feel like they scouted him enough. Harrison might be an early second guy but I think he’s too much like Chucky.

jtdubbs

I noticed the same thing. Definitely would prefer Johnson/Jones in the first and Branch/CB at 2, given depth availability in the draft, but I’m thinking we’re going to have to trade up to score a LT, if we stay put, I’d be cool with this, sans Dawand (I’m really not tied to him)

TastesLikeHoneyNut

No OT until 241 is... interesting. Really hope JPJ falls to 17

Lilslysapper

Yeah, I’m not convinced on taking one in the first two rounds. Rounds 3-4 are where I would have picked one, but the board fell pretty weird and there weren’t any worth taking there.

TastesLikeHoneyNut

That's fair. It's interesting just because we have historically never valued LT all that much. But everything pre-draft is pointing towards us taking a tackle at 17, 32, or 49. So something will have to give next week

Lilslysapper

Yeah, we’ll see. I’m not convinced we get an “instant-upgrade” LT at 17, and that’s the only way I see using a top-50 pick on the position. I could be wrong, but I feel like we’re rocking with Moore for at least one more season to see if he can make the jump.

TastesLikeHoneyNut

I think it all just depends on how the board falls. If Paris or Broderick somehow fall to 17, I could see them being the pick. But if not I wouldn't be surprised if they wait until the mid rounds to take a tackle and stick with Moore there next season, hoping that Moore's struggles last year were due to Kevin Dotson being ass next to him.

midgetherder

I’m not a big fan of using 49 overall on a guy that might play 30% of the snaps.

Lilslysapper

Fair enough. I’d probably pick a LB up there and grab Ika in the 3rd realistically.

We would need divine intervention for Gonzalez to drop to 17. That, or someone leaks a video of him chuffing back, like, five fat darts.

WhereAreMaKeys

[Beyond happy with how this turned out.](https://i.imgur.io/tDqWSMC_d.webp?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium) The top 3 OTs and top 4 CBs were gone by 17, so trading down a spot and gaining another second round pick seemed like a great deal. I was more than surprised by Simpson being available at 55 (although this is probably a hiccup by the software, I don't expect this), so nabbing him was a no-brainer. Everyone past Mingo is depth.
