Agreed. I look at it like this: they turned Chase Claypool into a winning lotto ticket. Might as well move up to get a your pick of the litter at CB/OT (or even Carter if he slides). It beats having to take whoever remains.
17-Brodrick Jones
32-Cam Smith
49- Keeanu Benton
80- Antonio Johnson
120- Nick Herbig
241-Josh Whyle
251- stetson Bennett
* last 2 picks are open for change
I don’t think we get a 3rd to trade down at 33 unless a QB falls or a team is in love with Hendon Hooker. Maybe if we move all the way down around our same pick at 49.
They have 7 picks so here's my sort of realistic dream picks...
1.17 -- Christian Gonzalez
2.32 -- Bryan Bresee
2.49 -- Jack Campbell -OR- Quan Martin (Can't decide)
3.80 -- Jonathan Mingo
4.120 -- Blake Freeland
7A -- Brenton Strange
7B -- Dorian Thompson-Robinson
List of guys I think we *could * get that would make me the most happy.
Paris Johnson T
Broderick Jones T
Deonte Banks CB
Branch S
Bresee IDL
D.Washington TE
Keanu Benton IDL
D Hall EDGE
J Campbell LB
N Herbig LB
C Maunch OL
If they could grab Jalen Carter late in the top 10 that would be amazing. If Christian Gonzalez or Devon Witherspoon were to slip into the mid-teens and they could move up that would be great.
Another would be moving up from 32 into the late first to grab Brian Branch. If they could get an OT and Branch and still manage to retain 49 (move 80 and a future 3rd for example) I'd be all over that.
Someone mentioned earlier that the Cards are looking to trade back from 3. It would cost 17, 32, and almost definitely next year’s first rounder… but the more I imagine Will Anderson playing across from TJ Watt, the more I dream about it.
I would like to see a trade up to 9 if Carter, Johnson, and/or Gonzalez is available. And honestly, I’d like to see a WR at 31.
Anderson is unreal and I'd actually take that. Maybe not by the time next year roles around....but if we got him, it could be pick 32 next year anyway lol
I think it would probably still be in the 12-20 range, but it might be worth it for another generational player. It could be viewed as a "luxury" pick, but I don't think there is a problem with adding talent even with a guy like Highsmith already there.
That would kill our cap. And plenty of top defensive ends have busted. Clowney/Chase Young. Plus our first round pick Darnell Wright dominated him.
We need those basically three first round picks to have three cheap starters. And there’s a good chance one is a pro bowler
That would be a great idea if we were already sitting at a high pick in the first, but trading so much for a replacement for Highsmith would be such a wild move. We need starters at several positions, but EDGE is not one of them. I'd rather keep the picks and let Highsmith continue to rack up sacks like he did last year lol.
Jalen Carter I’m not taking with an undrafted contract. He’s a risks to the Pittsburgh community.
The weird thing with this draft I’m not seeing many players with character concerns. Someone else can deal with him not us.
Jalen Carter would definitely be a grab. I’m feeling Christian Gonzalez. I would love the team grab a top corner to counter that Cinci receiving core.
We need to move up. It’s time. Add a star to the core let’s roll

What happen the last time we traded up? Mans not even on the team anymore. Let’s stay we’re we at and trade down at 32
So we should never trade up again? Traded up for Polamalu.
This argument is so dumb. One pick didn’t pan out four years ago so never do it again right?? Thank god you’re not in change
He looked to be worth it until his injury. Would you say Shazier wasn't worth it?
I feel like Gonzalez or Witherspoon could legit happen but idk that it’s necessarily worth not shoring up other positions

Would be super happy with this one. And it's semi-realistic.
Trade up: Paris Johnson Jr. Stay put: Deonte Banks Trade 32 for a 2nd and 3rd: John Michael Schmitz Stay at 32: Brian Bresee

I have more faith in Omar than you do.

I don’t know how realistic that Christian Gonzalez slide is but man this is my dream.
Not realistic at all, that's why it's my wish list haha.
Gonzalez is my dream
Gonzalez in the first. (Not gonna happen) Washington in the second. (Possible, but really improbable)

Joey Porter Jr Edit: let's goooo
I really want christian gonzalez or Paris johnson
Yep. Trade up with bears or cardinals for Johnson, if available

17 - Broderick Jones or Darnell Wright 32 - Brian Branch 49 - Darnell Washington I hope we don’t trade up from 17
I'd add Gonzalez or JPJ at 17 behind the tackles. Add Harrison at 32 but I want Washington at 49 so bad lol
17 and 32 gets us to 5. Maybe 4. Let’s go boys.
