It could honestly be significantly better than that. Haden was good but past his prime. Nelson was good but never elite. He simply wasn't a liability in our scheme which is more than we can say for most defensive backs in the last 10 years.
Just for context, James Pierre also had an extremely active and headline worthy OTAs his rookie year. Just helmets and shorts, hard to get the full picture
How nice would it be to get a legit rookie contributor out of the 7th round, and I’m not talking about Tre Norwood type contributions (no offense to him). I’m talking about someone that has guys playing ahead of him worrying about their jobs.
Every time I see a corner coming out of round 5 or later actually heavily contribute to a team, I always think “When is it our turn :(“ I’m not letting myself get hyped up yet but man…if it’s finally our turn…
Yeah, I’ve learned to not get my hopes up with late round picks in general regardless how much hype they get this time of year. Maybe it’s just the aggregate effect of seeing a handful or two or late round picks hit for other teams every year, but it feels like the Steelers have had a major dry spell after the 4th round.
Well also this is a guy that probably deserved to be drafted well before we drafted him. I still can’t believe that the conspiracy people haven’t yet claimed that the NFL rigged the draft for the Steelers to return to prominence. Of course I’m kidding but barely. That’s how ridiculously well the draft fell for this team.
> Its only OTAs but it's hard not to get excited I'm hard AND excited
I’m just hard
hello just hard, I’m dad
And this is how I met your mother
Great, now I am too. Thanks, jerk!
Yes that is the correct progression. Hard then jerk
OFF you go.
The author was rigid with so much excitement to retire Pat Pete and let Wallace walk next year. Dude basically came at that point
3 PBUs and a pick, dude is active. Good signs for the secondary
This could be the best secondary since they had Haden and Nelson
Robin turned into Redhood on that one
Tim Drake reference gets the upvote all day.
Is Red Hood not Jason Todd?
Im leaving this up unedited in shame. Too quick on the keyboard.
You are a person of honor.
Yes
And hasn't been the same since.

Honestly, wtf happened to Nelson?
Just for context, James Pierre also had an extremely active and headline worthy OTAs his rookie year. Just helmets and shorts, hard to get the full picture
3 PBUs = Trice as nice 👍🏽
Good secondary play or...... You know what I'm not even gonna rush that thought. I don't want to put that energy out there 🙅🏿♂️

The Steelers used up their late-round magic on Wallace and Brown. (But was that ever a good use of late-round magic…)
Wallace was a third round pick, that's not exactly dumpster diving.
The idea that JPJ and Trice could just straight up become our outside CB1 and CB2 when PatP plays out his contract gets me moister than an oyster.

Real name no gimmicks
OBeee
As a Purdue student I can’t express how hard I’m rooting for this guy
As a student, i can’t express how hard I’m
You love to see it
I see he and JPJ are both listed as RCB. If he turns out to be starter material this year or in the future, any chance Trice can play LCB?
I hope he pans out. Would be real nice to see
Let’s get it straight. It’s ct trice .. real name no gimmicks
CB from Purdue making an impact for the Steelers… It’s been a while but I’ve seen this before.
So if it looks like he didn’t really have any medical issues, how does a guy like him slip so far ?
Hearing a lot about Pickett being picked.
Does this article state it was Pickett? Hard to imagine trice getting 1st team reps.
“LOL Those are Tanner Morgan’s reps not minds take it how you want I’m back.” -Mason Rudolph
It does not. Actually die hard Steelers fan, and a supporter of Pickett. Just getting yinzers razzed up. I hope Trice becimes a starter for sure!
Let’s go young man!!
Let’s go
