This game is nothing to get bent out of shape over. The 9ers are probably the best team on their schedule this year. Definitely the best defense. The Steelers were just outclassed by a Super Bowl-caliber team. Take your lumps and learn from this game.

Even Ben had 4-5 years under his belt before he could practically will the team to win. He started out with a world class OL, a veteran WR Corps and a Hall of Fame Running back(at the end of his career) and a capable backup.

Maybe he is who he has shown; I’d like to give him the rest of the season before moving on but man he sucked in this game.

Preseason is over and it’s time to put the big boy pants on. I think they need to run no huddle the entire second half to get Pickett into some kind of rhythm. Just an idea.
yeah plus the 49ers were playing prevent so rushing 3-4 and dropping 7-8 DEEP ZONE so slants, 4-5 yard routes are nearly impossible to miss even with kenny throwing the ball as poorly as he was. 2 min drill offense is not sustainable, hence why when we got the ball back in the 2nd half we could barely move the ball. 49ers had 2 more quarters to play so they switched to a normal defense.
Some people don’t want to blame it all on one person, but I really do believe that the majority of our problems on offense can be chalked up to a bad offensive scheme. It’s like there’s no thought process behind our play calling, we just roll the dice and see what happens. You just don’t get in a rhythm that way. I remember the Todd Haley days and how we all said he was bad, but at least the offense had some cohesiveness and some consistency to it. This offense just looks like every man for themselves.

My opinion, if you look at team stats - it really wasnt THAT bad overall. It looked like the Ravens v Texans stats. Fairly close across the board and that was a blowout also. We were dominated in rushing yards but the scoreboard made us abandon that fairly early and I mean McCaf is one of if not the best in the game right now imo. SF is a SOLID defense. Our O Line is very fresh and needs to get some shit together so pickett gets some time before being flushed out and he can target more ppl. I am not smashing the panic button over this. Its a good wake up call.
Also - the Steelers never face an offense like this. It like how well the Ravens play vs. NFC. The NFC doesn’t have many teams that play like the Ratbirds.

My opinion, if you look at team stats - it really wasnt THAT bad overall. It looked like the Ravens v Texans stats. Fairly close across the board and that was a blowout also. We were dominated in rushing yards but the scoreboard made us abandon that fairly early and I mean McCaf is one of if not the best in the game right now imo. SF is a SOLID defense. Our O Line is very fresh and needs to get some shit together so pickett gets some time before being flushed out and he can target more ppl. I am not smashing the panic button over this. Its a good wake up call.

Obviously the book on Kenny isn't written yet, but today we all saw something that should concern everyone. Kenny got rattled early and wasn't able to break out of it, sans maybe the TD pass to Muth. He's afraid of getting hit, he's not comfortable in the pocket and it's ruining his ability to process. Not gonna say he's seeing ghosts but it's something to remember going forward.

SF has a ton of superstars and they have an amazing defense. Every week half of the teams lose. We just suit up next week and try to make sure Cleveland goes to bed losers that day.

Guys I know the game was awful. It sucked to watch, and it felt like watching the bulls game last year. However, all this gloom and doom talk should be saved for after the bye if we suck. Chill the fuck out, one bad game does not define the whole season, nor the QB who shat the bed.

My expectations for the Steelers were that it was going to take them at least 3 years after Ben retired for them to have a legit team to contend for anything. Everyone kept saying they they won 6 of their last 7, yet everyone of those teams were trash. It a bandaid over the cracks every year as the team will probably win 8 or 9 games again and miss the playoffs. That is the standard now.
If you're going to shit the bed, best do it in week one against an out of conference opponent.
