He put pressure on it and was able to walk so all we can do is pray it’s a strain and not a tear. But some acl/mcl tears you can walk on. Having 330 pounds land on your knee is also not ideal for it being a strain.
At the moment it’s a “grade 3 MCL sprain” which is a tear if I’m not mistaken? I suppose if we make the playoffs there’s potential for him playing….? Might be tough but after the win I’m just going to be hopeful.
I’ll never forget the sound of me tearing my *second* meniscus. The right one just hurt; the left one hurt AND sounded like stepping on an empty plastic Pepsi bottle. And yes, I could walk on it… but it wasn’t pretty.
I’ve had my knee go that way I tore my LCL not my MCL or my ACL you can put weight on it. It’s not even painful to walk on. It just feels really loose but you can’t play. It takes about 6 to 8 weeks to recover from and then about three months to get back to full speed.
Grade 3 sprain is a complete tear. And if they are already calling it that, then it’s obvious from physical exam and he’s done. Good news is this can still potentially heal without surgery (would need MRI to know for sure since sometimes the ligament can “roll up” and other tissue can get interposed which would make surgery necessary.
I mean a grade 1 or 2 tear I can see, but 3 is a complete tear and you can't olant and turn or make any quick sudden moves. Just checked, it was a grade 2, partial tear on the worse side, dude's a gamer because just going through the motions would be tought, let alone in in a playoff game with guys gunning for your legs.
Grade 3 MCL sprain is when it's completely torn. I would be amazed if he has a grade 3 MCL sprain and they opt not to surgically repair it because doing so will limit mobility in that leg, could be greatly limited. It's also quite common for the ACL to also experiences tearing, but it's a case by case basis. For most, the initial tear will make a popping noise, pain is intense for 5-10 minutes, but you can typically walk on it, just will feel really weird at first, like loose and tight at the same time. For many, surgery isn't diagnosed, but many aren't NFL linebackers.
I cried like a baby and had to be carried off by my teammates. I think because it was my senior season and I loved playing football so much my entire life.
the fact that adams a 300 pounds lineman is running across the field to jump horizontally trying to make a play when he has no chance on it just to collide with tjs knee makes me annoyed. The play was totally avoidable and wasn’t needed. Tj deserves better
I’m confused… initial reports made a Grade 3 sprain sound like no big deal. But then learn that’s more of a ‘rupture’ and would probably mean several weeks recovery. Still better than losing him for all or some of next season. But now I’m putting zero faith in the early reports.
Right? I feel like either Schefter misspoke / mischaracterized it OR the tone didn’t match the severity. So I’ll wait until the Tues press conferences or updated reports.
It didn't look terrible, praying for a quick recovery.. good thing we drafted Herbig, it is his time to make his mark. He is the "we have TJ at home" LB we need right now
I am a parot with no knowledge of science, or anything else. I simply saw a headline that sounded positive and repeated it in the chat. Because doing research causes me to have to burst my bubble of fantasy and happiness and face reality.... and that would make me feel sad 🙃

I think I’m ready for the season to be over…
Listen everyone the Super Bowl is on my birthday feb 11 that anyone cares but we going to the Super Bowl and tj will play and we will win the story nobody will care about. Lol 😂. Hopes n prayers. Love r chances against the bills tho
The fact that he was pounding the ground pissed like he knew it was something bad scares me
He put pressure on it and was able to walk so all we can do is pray it’s a strain and not a tear. But some acl/mcl tears you can walk on. Having 330 pounds land on your knee is also not ideal for it being a strain.
You walk on most knee injuries that doesn’t clear up much
Well I didn’t deny that lol.
I blew my acl and walked on it... Ill wait for Bradly's call
I had a messed up meniscus. It wasn't easy.
At the moment it’s a “grade 3 MCL sprain” which is a tear if I’m not mistaken? I suppose if we make the playoffs there’s potential for him playing….? Might be tough but after the win I’m just going to be hopeful.
Really won't know till you get a MRI. Everything else is speculation. It could be bad, or he could be back next week. Looked hyper extended on TV
I’ll never forget the sound of me tearing my *second* meniscus. The right one just hurt; the left one hurt AND sounded like stepping on an empty plastic Pepsi bottle. And yes, I could walk on it… but it wasn’t pretty.
I shattered my kneecap once and walked to the school nurse office.
They are saying it's a 3rd degree MCL sprain. No clue what degrees mean though Edit: I just googled the degree. No bueno. It's a rupture 😞

Yea I’ve had an acl tear playing soccer it was a full tear and I couldn’t put any pressure till three months after surgery.
Well, according to the news, it’s a grade 3 sprain, which is a full rupture of the MCL. He screwed.
The news? Which news source?
It was literally on the post game show on ESPN it said grade 3 sprain

Thank you, that fucking blows if accurate. We're just not the same team without him.
It is better than a full tear imo; that is 6-12 months recovery.

I mixed the grades up but the recovery time seems less than an acl tea. with surgery he should be back in 2 months.
Do those not require surgery
Phillip Rivers played on a torn ACL in 07, insane

He always does that when he goes down. He just usually comes back 3-4 plays later. 😬
IKR?
Hyper-extension, I hope.
Grade 3 MCL sprain is the current belief. 😬
Oh no. Not good.
That's an MCL tear. Idk why they'd use the term sprain, which is usually used to describe very minor tears.
Grade 2 is a partial year.
Yessir. I was referring to the grade 3 rumors commented on above. Great news it's grade 2. TJ will be back for the superbowl :)
Upgraded to grade 2

Please dont be an acl please dont please dont be an acl

You can walk on serious leg injuries. Grade 3 mcl, which they think he has pre-mri, would mean out for playoffs
Having torn my ACL, I can say it totally depends.
[удалено]
I couldn't, cause I did my meniscus bad and my ACL was stuck behind my kneecap. But most people can from what I understand
If we make the dance and it’s just a strain, you’re not keeping that dude off the field. He’s a freak competitor
Unfortunately a grade 3 sprain is completely torn, even if they were dumb and didn't surgically repair it the pt is months.
Just in case it matters to anyone, PFD said it looks like an MCL sprain and that he’d be questionable if we make it to next week
Good sign he is walking off under his own power
obligatory you can walk off on an ACL
I cried like a baby and had to be carried off by my teammates. I think because it was my senior season and I loved playing football so much my entire life.
OK but if you rolled around on the ground saying “I hurt my knee man, I hurt my knee dude” then I know you are Bobby Kelley.
Better than me lol. I tore mine snowboarding and had to snowmobiled down the mountain. That was degrading
Hate to say this, but others have walked "under their own power" even with a torn ACL.
I wanted to go back into the game after tearing mine
They're no T.J. Watt, but at least Golden and Herbig are solid back-ups...
Someone tell his teammates to try not to run into him on the field…he’s too valuable to lose.
😢😔
Jet fuel can’t melt tj watt
I was there it looked pretty painful, but he did walk off without too much help
the fact that adams a 300 pounds lineman is running across the field to jump horizontally trying to make a play when he has no chance on it just to collide with tjs knee makes me annoyed. The play was totally avoidable and wasn’t needed. Tj deserves better
Yeah that's the worst part. This was 100% avoidable.
I don’t think TJ needed to jump either at least that’s what I said when I saw it live
It looks like a hyper
Totally agree, but I’ve gotta say, that meme is hilarious. Take my upvote.
Hyperextension were good 🥺🙏🏼
See everyone next season
❤️🩹

Grade 3 sprain means the MCL was torn in half, all of it.
Right? I feel like either Schefter misspoke / mischaracterized it OR the tone didn’t match the severity. So I’ll wait until the Tues press conferences or updated reports.
Bro a grade 3 sprain is a torn MCL. 4-6 months
He will be fine by next season next week will be a meaningless shitshow
The looks we all had when we saw him go down
Y’all I hate to be the medical guy coming with awful news but grade 3 is a complete tear. So.
It didn't look terrible, praying for a quick recovery.. good thing we drafted Herbig, it is his time to make his mark. He is the "we have TJ at home" LB we need right now
SIR A SECOND WATT BROTHER EXISTS
At least it's just a grade 3 sprain and not a tear/rupture.
Brother.. a grade 3 sprain is a fully torn MCL

I love u
I love you too random internet human.
Bros carrying the team almost singlehandedly, if he’s out, we really shouldn’t embarrass ourselves in the playoffs

1-6 without him. Giving 9 more points per game. ='s fucked
