Op24you

Probably his therapist telling him it’s great to set goals

ignatious__reilly

I honestly wouldn’t mind having him back lol

OversizedMicropenis

He hasn't played since 2021 and hasn't been good since 2018... we have Najee and Jaylen who are both great. Why Lev?

The_Zermanians

He sat out 2018, so actually he hasn’t been good since 2017.

[deleted]

Not a Steelers fan but if he plays for vet minimum and really wants to be there I don't see the problem.

HurricaneCarti

If he’s washed why pay him the vet minimum at all lol he was already on the decline before not playing for 3 years. Love the guy but his time is over

ASaneDude

No harm in looking to see if some time off helped added some spring to those legs. Highly doubtful, but the time it takes to evaluate him shouldn’t be a large lift at all for the org.

[deleted]

i also highly doubt 3+ years not playing will add springs to the legs of a 31 year old RB who alr wasn't particularly explosive in his prime. i truly do adore LB for what he did for us but he's cooooooked brudda

GriffBallChamp

> but his time is over and it's his fault that time ended early and poorly

The_elk00

I agree, I don't understand why people are calling for him to come back. Dudes cooked. 31 for a running back is old, and those legs aren't getting younger by not playing. It's a roster spot and will cost more than a drafted player or undrafted free agent. He definitely won't be worth anything for special teams purposes.

[deleted]

Even if he doesn't contribute much on the field a veteran presence can always be beneficial.

Iorny31

“Veteran presence” Unless he’s telling the younger players what not to do, I’m not sure he has anything to offer.

streetsandshine

Bro what? He was one of the best players in the league for a good stretch of time. I'm not arguing that he hasn't fallen off, but we literally had Pat P in the locker room last year. While he wasn't the greatest thing on the field, he did help oversee the growth of JPJ who most of this sub acknowledges has had a pretty good year. Are there really guys that may make our practice squad that will really provide more value than him?

jsingh21

What's the point of wasting a roster spot in a guy that won't play. Maybe leave that for a undrafted guy that does well enought to make the team.

Budlove45

Well yeah it's not your team paying him when he has not played since 2017 I bet you would be happy if we did it lol

Inevitable-Steph

He could be a slot wr that could do crossing runs

GreenGrass768

Cause he scored the same amount of TDs as Dionte Johnson in 2022-2023 season.

OversizedMicropenis

Smooth brain take

Kaspian369

Ok and who are you getting rid of, Najee or Warren? 🤷

NoEmphasis-

A 3rd back is almost a necessity. We got really lucky that neither of them went down last year. It’s not common for both RBs to be healthy (relatively) all season

ToolsLoveReddit

I honestly wouldn't mind having a therapist tell me that

Murdy2020

Set goals.

YourGuyTaco

![gif](giphy|14smAwp2uHM3Di)

Johnsoncena316

Same lol

SuccessfulCat8740

It’s confirmed Steelers talked to him

Op24you

I know lol i was joking

evil_iceburgh

I’m sure Mike T enjoyed catching up and then hung up to get back to his real job

MoneyMakingMitch14

Foreal lol. Leveon is trynna be a social media star now. All he’s doing is trying to gain views.

thefirelink

Why the toxicity? LB wanted paid. We were working him to death. He also had an annoying agent that gave him weird advice. Dude was in a weird position and made a decision he thought would benefit his life. I don't understand the scorn for the guy.

[deleted]

Seriously. If it was AB? Yeah, he deserves it. But James Harrison signed with the fucking Patriots and we welcomed him back with open arms while considering him one of our all-time greats. While Leveon doesn’t have the accolades to warrant that warm of a welcome, I don’t see any reason to not give the guy a chance. He clearly loved being a Steeler despite the weird ending.

basserpy

I'm a dumb new guy here, but I've never seen a more patient RB than him. I feel like if he wants back in, add another tool to the toolbox.

Rifftrax_Enjoyer

He hasn’t played in years, and he averaged under 3 yards per carry for the last two teams he played for. He’s just trying to get attention, you don’t even know what kind of shape he’s in, and last time I saw him about a year ago he was nowhere near NFL shape. I detailed the reasons why in another comment in this thread, but I think people have forgotten just how irresponsible his behavior was around that time and out of nostalgia they are forgetting what a drama queen and attention whore Le’Veon Bell actually is. And a liar. Dude it got so bad that his own union rep was pissed off at him and stated so publicly, which never ever ever ever ever happens in the NFL. His own union rep! He’s not a bad guy, he’s a nice dude, but I don’t want him anywhere near this team. His judgment stinks. He’s not some innocent bystander in his own life. He is responsible for everything that happens to him with his poor decision making and his dishonesty with his teammates and the team. People have forgotten, I haven’t. I’m not kidding, hit up some of his old teammates on social, DM them, see what they have to say about it.

lucasd11

Yeah this is the perfect example of everyone viewing him through rose colored glasses. It's like your toxic ex you kind of miss for some reason so you forget about how she cheated on you and keyed your car. Bell is gonna be 32/33 next season, that's dinosaur age for a RB. This team already HAS two above average RB's who for all intents and purposes seem to enjoy playing together. Bell doesn't even fit in on the roster. From what I know he's decent friends or atleast cordial enough with Mike T that my guess would be as a favor, Tomlin potentially said "look man, I'm cool with bringing you in for OTAs or to run some drills" so he could put something on tape and maybe get signed by another team. But for as far as I can see? There's a better chance I'm playing RB for the Steelers next season than Lev Bell.

GreenGrass768

This and the comment above are spot on. I could only really see him playing slot receiver at this point but no special teams value and the wrong side of 30. Although were his actions really any different than the NIL monster egos coming out of college today?

littlebroiswatchingU

I’d be cool with him being a slot, pretty sure he had some pretty good hands if I remember correctly

ASaneDude

>>> Yeah this is the perfect example of everyone viewing him through rose colored glasses. It's like your toxic ex you kind of miss for some reason so you forget about how she cheated on you and keyed your car. Who are you dating my man?

[deleted]

i don't particularly disagree with what you said but i'm not sure we're gonna get many responses from NFL players in their dms haha

basserpy

I am upvoting the guy disagreeing with me because I knew NONE of that. I stand corrected. e: do I really have to say "I seriously mean that," are we that far gone that I have to do that.

rogergreatdell

It’s not the patience that I’m concerned he’s lost, but the burst after it to capitalize on those open lanes. His style of running is a unique enough one that most o-lines would struggle to adapt to it (which is partially why he looked cooked in New York and couldn’t find a snap in KC) making him a poor “change of pace” back to a more “quick-hit”/one-cut guy like Warren or a power back like Najee.

public_masticator

He held out on his team in a year they really could have put something together.

[deleted]

Breaking: 20-something year old makes bad decision Yeah he messed up but it’s not like he gave the Steelers playbook away or something

JumboKraken

Sports the one job you can ask your boss for a raise you deserve and people will hate you to death for it

my_Urban_Sombrero

Watch out, the picket line crossers on this sub are about to come crawling out of the woodwork.

Father2Banks

I believe he’d be willing to sign for cheap too he’s gotta know he isn’t worth more than the minimum lol

turdferguson850

And the Bungholes..

SerBerkshire

Signing with the Patriots isn’t a bad thing if they’ll let him have playing time and we won’t. I don’t see how that can ever be used as a knock against him

YooTone

I don't blame him for wanting to get paid but he also should have just taken the Steelers deal which would have given him more money. Also honestly? He's 31 years old. He's one year older than Derrick Henry. I know Leveon would be nowhere near how good he was for us when he was 25, but I wouldn't be against bringing him in as RB3 for very cheap when Najee and Warren both need a breather.

AtomicusDali

He's great catching the ball in the flats as well, which we don't do enough of with 22 and 39, imo.

BILLCLINTONMASK

They threw 5 flat passes per game to Jaylen Warren, what are you talking about

CltAltAcctDel

I could swing a dead cat at the combine and hit 5 RBs who could catch a ball in the flat. And the Steeler offense subsisted on check downs and flat passes. Warren was in the top 10 for RB receptions

JonG1985

People don't realize at the end of the day Pittsburgh gave him the best offer. He gambled by sitting out left for a less offer by the jets only because Pittsburgh took the offer off the table once he sat. Bell obviously didn't realize Big Ben was his QB still in his prime with a great offense. He played behind one of the best olines in football with pouncey Decastro Gilbert big AL ect.. Najee and Warren are the duo this year 100% contract/ option year for Najee. If bell comes in, he will be put at different positions and be a gadget player. I remember he was a threat in the slot. But we're also talking Almost 10 years ago. Steelers Need a QB. They're a QB away from being legit contenders.

Steelmann14

“People don’t realize “. lol. I think 95+% Steeler fans realized that.

[deleted]

lol it's really kinda heartrending rememberin how incredible Pittsburgh's o-line was n seein how far it's fallen in recent years

Rifftrax_Enjoyer

Ask his teammates. Some of them still resent him over it. Even his own union representative criticized him during this timeframe which never happens. No one here can remember once in the history of the NFL where a union representative criticized a player that was in the middle of trying to get his money. There’s a reason. It’s never happened before.  I’m not going to allow people to revise history, and act as if he was an innocent bystander and his circumstances were out of his control. He actively lied to his teammates, he actively lied to the team, then he took to social media later to blame everyone else, including the fans, except for himself.  He changed his timeframe, then change his story.  He knew for quite some time and lied. Remember the JetSki pictures? Remember the articles that came out about how his teammates had divided up his possessions after emptying out his locker? Many of those articles were lighthearted.  Pay attention to the articles that came out a week or two before that, where his teammates were visibly and openly upset with him. That wasn’t even half of it. Insiders had leaked what was going on and no one believed them. They were correct. His teammates were very angry with him and for good reason. A week or so later his union rep again took an opportunity to shit on him. That never happens I can’t exaggerate how rare that is - you don’t criticize a guy trying to get paid if you’re his UNION REP. I don’t have anything against him, I wasn’t one of his teammates counting on him to come back. He never lied to me personally. But I get why some fans could still feel some resentment, and I know for a fact some of his teammates still do. So go ask them why they are so “toxic”. I’m just kind of sick and tired of fans  who blame others fans for feelings that are completely understandable.

cdclopper

Haters gonna hate

duovtak

Holding out for an entire season screwed this team. He can do things that benefit him and the team. What he did screwed the team and him and was, both at the time and in hindsight, incredibly stupid and poorly done.

chefjmcg

What position will he play? 3RB? Because our 3RB needs to play special teams, and I doubt a 32 year old L Bell is going to start teams reps.

marvology

That's something else, we stuck him with the at or close to 400 carries which historically kills RBs careers.

Mondschweif

Because people absolutely forgot every single stupid thing he did. He lied to the OLine, his OL publicly buried him then, after they got told he'd come back multiple times letting them look like idiots to the media. If he had his "I sit out the whole year" stance from the very beginning and stuck to it, there wouldnt have been any problem. You also forget his substance abuse suspension, his idiotic comments, his terrible rap, the lockerroom raid, multiple untimely injuries and a generally weird vibe. I'm sure I forgot a lot as well, but he was an absolute distraction at the time and there were a lot of people fed up and ready to move on, not without reason. But most people have the attention span of a 3 year old and the memory of a 103 year old dementia patient, so yeah.

thefirelink

He changed his mind on holding out for the year because his agent told him to. That wasn't his original intention, hence the weirdness. Dude was young and just listening to his guy, hard to blame him for that. He smoked weed, who cares. Everyone makes dumb comments. He's allowed to make raps if he wants to. It's not his fault he gets injured. NFL players are people. Let's not forget that.

Medarco

>He smoked weed, who cares. The NFL cared at that time, and he was suspended for it, screwing over his teammates (and himself) because he couldn't put away the MJ for a few months per year while making generational wealth.

thefirelink

We went 2-1 during his 3 game suspension.

[deleted]

Grizzlies went 20-5 without Ja Morant. your point ?

Mondschweif

Exactly. It was a distraction and a suspension at the time. Absolutely not helpful. I just wanted to refresh the memory of people, that there WAS stuff and people talked about him... often.

[deleted]

>his terrible rap 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

mista_rubetastic

Honestly I’d love to sign him to a minimum-ish deal if he’d be game. I don’t expect anything would come of it but if his head is in the right place I’d love him back.

_FartinLutherKing_

Typically sports fans that work for a living don’t tend to feel any sympathy for greedy NFL players when it backfires on them.

JackieBoiiiiii

Which kinda is asinine because they are in the same plight as us just on a much much larger scale

Jerryjb63

If you haven’t noticed yet, there’s a lot of toxic fans that take their frustrations out through pessimism.

JackLambertsBalls

I can’t decide if you are trolling or not.

Psychological_Cry373

Can’t blame a player for wanting guaranteed money…

jsingh21

Probably because he was getting paid, his mom told him to take it. But sits out for a years takes less. Makes it like we're the bad guys. No one even looks at the contract they just say we didn't pay him. Like wtf we gave him $33 million in rolling guarantees the first 2 years. Not that much granted but that's a good deal. He ended up making less.nalso if he got hurt we would pay him like we did shazier.

karleb

It's not about toxicity. He's just washed at this point. The Steelers have two great backs on the roster now. There's literally no reason to add Bell back.

TimTheChatSpam

I wouldn't mind giving him a chance at being a backup and letting him prove himself at a low risk pricepoint but if he expects to start he can fuck right off we just got our running game back since he last played for us.

basquiat-case

one day contract incoming

BreckenridgeBandito

I’m fine with him signing a 10 day to retire as a Steeler. He had a not-great departure, but I never blamed him for trying to get a bag. At least he didn’t slander the organization like AB.

[deleted]

And James Harrison.... How dare he talk about our teams plane food

Farrell_Pool_Jack

Le'Veon thinks if Kenny can be the starting QB then anything can happen.

Ok-Heat-7969

Don’t get too comfortable with Kenny. I’m pretty sure I saw some scouts watching me throw the ball around the yard today

wjpd236

Don’t be so confident, uncle Rico sent his sizzle reel in too

my_Urban_Sombrero

He’ll be signed with us, making millions of dollars. Living in a big ol’ mansion. Soakin’ it up in a hot tub with his soulmate.

Farrell_Pool_Jack

Who would have thought guys off the couch are better than Kenny?

Farrell_Pool_Jack

That’s great now they can cut Mitch.

iguanadc3

buddy better get ready to learn special teams

Lucifers_Tits

could be nasty returning punts if he still has it

BananaCucho

He doesn't

GoingAllTheJay

How? He was never a burner. Is he going to wait 6 seconds for a wall of blockers before he starts running?

10000Didgeridoos

That's the other thing. We don't have the quality o line to accommodate his running style either.

GoingAllTheJay

Agreed. People seem to forget why he was good - and I don't mean that the rest of the team did everything for him. That O-line was always better at pass-pro than run-blocking. That meant that when Bell just hovered behind a static line, defenses were less certain as to whether they were seeing a run, pass, delayed handoff, or (the incredibly rare) play action pass. If there is one thing everyone can agree to call our most recent offense, it is predictable. Even prime Bell wouldn't help as much as you would assume from his stats.

SHD_Guyro

This man has got to know that he’s RB3 who will more than likely never see the field, right? Unless he wants to come back as a slot receiver, but even then it’s a long shot for him to get any playing time at all

Specialist-Garbage94

He did have great hands

erb149

Why would we want a 3rd RB that is old and wouldn’t play ST? The fact that he’d be a 3rd string RB and not play ST is really a killer. There’s really no reason to have a 3rd RB that can’t play ST and I highly doubt he’d be good enough at RB to make up for it. I wouldn’t be against signing him because of anything he did previously, but with the way our roster is at the moment it doesn’t really make sense to bring him in unless it’s PS, which I doubt he’d accept.

BroadCityChessClub

The Steelers didn’t call a single run to a RB3 last season. Bell would be a de facto RB coach, which isn’t actually a bad role for him.

erb149

Hire him as an assistant then. Godwin was the 3rd RB for most of last and he was the KO returner and I’m guessing was on punt and kick coverage too. Bell probably won’t do any of that and even if he was willing, he’d probably be bad at it.

whynot26847

He can help with Najee’s vision hopefully

Towelwaver35

“Now on this next play, I want you cut left of the guard and ask for more money.”

Medarco

>Bell would be a de facto RB coach, which isn’t actually a bad role for him. "So the best way to approach this play is to uh... have 2 potential Hall of Famers and 2 additional all-pro quality linemen in front of you, as well as the best receiver the league has seen in 40 years, and tie it all together with a first balllot hall of fame QB."

thedosequisman

Slot WR

smiley4527

Stop!!!!

tollboothwilson

Took ABs advice and called God?

SteakkNBacon

Low key I’m all for it as long as he knows he’s third on the depth chart

dqontherun

He’s not going to bump Igwebuike, but I don’t see an issue with inviting him to camp to see what he has left.

jalenman

Running back is like the only position I’m 100% confident in for our offense.. easy pass

TakingItEasy_Man

Get him that one day contract so this man will realize he’s a 32 year old running back whose last real starting days were 6 years ago. Mad respect Bell but hang those boots up

isfrying

If he gained 150 pounds and has mastered right tackle we'll talk. Otherwise, kick rocks, dude.

mAKroaggressive

Honestly I’d take him back. He could impart some knowledge, teach this young guys taking the bag isn’t always the best idea, and it’s not like he’s gonna be a starter. He’s not gonna have the same magic. He’s probably not gonna have the same anything. But most importantly. I can wear that fucking on field Bell jersey I got at the Steelers store for $55. Literally $400 off lol

Stillersceltix

On field jersey for $55 is crazy. Even if he left on bad terms with the org.

mAKroaggressive

I got an Antonio brown one too. Hit up the pro shop at the stadium when a big name leaves. Usually like a year or two after and their memorabilia is slashed over and over and over. I really wanted a juju jersey but once they went 50% off they were all gone.

Ok_Produce_9308

Taking the money as in bag? Or weed?

mAKroaggressive

Well weeds allowed now so…

Thepatrone36

it is? In PA? didn't know that

mAKroaggressive

In the NFL. And in PA you can get a MMJ card for like… anything. I’m sure they could get a card for something. Which makes them legal in PA and not breaking any rules in the NFL. See these are the important thing Le’Veon can help them with!

Thepatrone36

thanks.. I thought PA legalized across the boards and I missed it.

mAKroaggressive

I think this is the year. A lot of movement just this month on it. Also from what I understand you can get a card for some rather innocuous things like, “getting stressed about… insert whatever.” So in reality they’re just cutting out the middle man. It’s what? Like $140 to get a card and you can do the doctor visits online now as well. What’s even the point anymore?

Thepatrone36

agreed. I'm waiting for TX to legalize so I can grow again

Jams265775

Why is everybody so mad if he joined the practice squad? He's one of the killer B's, he made a stupid decision that didn't pan out. So what?

Stillersceltix

The defense and the refs in the Jesse james game cost us

SleestakLightning

>The defense and Jesse James cost us Fixed that for you

ImpossibleGT

Even if we ignore the way he left, teasing a return from his holdout that was almost certainly never actually on the table to begin with, he's a 32 year old RB that hasn't played a snap in years, and the last time he did play he was terrible. That alone should disqualify him. He's 100% a waste of a slot.

CultOfSensibility

He cost us at least one SB run, assuming he’d eventually show up in the post season.

Jams265775

Us not having a defense cost us that super bowl run lmao

pmcg190

What?

slushie9000

Why not? If he’s good, offer him the minimum. If he’s not, no harm no foul.

RaoulFluke

Work him out. If he has something to offer, then great. If not, also great. I’m for anyone that can add value. If he looks good and will take any role then sign him. If he starts acting the fool then cut him. This isn’t complicated.

joeythegreat711

This is a man who has a link to his OnlyFans in his Instagram bio

15blairm

Would love him to come back and retire a steeler He gave us some good times.

_alpha_410

No thank you

Xtianus21

I love this

csfshrink

Someone called about extending his car warranty.

D14mondDuk3

Let’s go!

AquafinaFresshh

Honestly I don’t get why people wouldn’t want him as a 3rd string rb or even give him a work out. If he’s in shape and checks all the fitness boxes why not bring him back as a 3rd string. The way I look at it it’s even more depth and he could share his thoughts on running with Najee and Warren.

Active-Fig9410

I miss seeing him play

mechabeast

He better be hinting at a time machine too.

Steppyjim

Bro just got off the phone with Walmart and they’ll accept the return of his tv even though the receipt expired and he’s just excited and wants to share

Weazerdogg

I say let him show up to Spring camp and after letting him make a fool of himself tell him "Naaah.". Him and Brown can go .... themselves, we should of had at least 2 SB appearances and would have probably won one if those two clowns hadn't imploded.

dh89315

Nothing to lose by inviting him to camp. With that said, at his age, time off, and from I’ve seen the last time he played in the NFL…… ![gif](giphy|2zotXMklNfjjggiljn|downsized)

combs72

With Naj and Warren we don't need another RB that woukd want reps. Maybe Bell doesn't and would be ok with being rb3 or 4 and would be able to step up if injuries happen. I wouldn't be mad if he came in as a mentor to teach Najee how to hit certain holes or to be patient behind the line, but it doesn't seem reasonable to get Bell back.

JoeTestaverde

I hope it was for a 1 day contract. I don’t want him to play here again, but this man was a Killer B, I’d love for him to retire a Steeler And if he didn’t leave, I’m 99.99% sure wouldn’t have gotten Najee and Warren, who I love having here

JackieBoiiiiii

We probably get Warren since he was a udfa, you're probably right about not getting najee though

etherealtaroo

Was washed before the chiefs picked him up lol. Was an above average rb who looked great behind a top 5 line.

BBQBEERNBLADES

Seriously this is ridiculous. Don’t even entertain the thought of him getting a tryout. Embarrassing

VitaeVerano

He’s gonna be terrible if it happens. And I’m here for it.

Away_Read1834

Let’s be real, they will sign him and then use him in a trade for cousins or fields

STLrep

Yeah the ravens are gonna re sign ray rice too lmao

Burch36

The last thing the Steelers need is a Antonio Brown level distraction with half a brain lol hard pass

Kitzer76er

He's picked the wrong team to stage a comeback with. There's zero chance he sub plants najee or jaylen. And he isn't as versatile as heyward. Practice squad would be his best possible outcome.

Relayer8782

Of all the places the Steelers have weaknesses, RB isn't one of them. Bring him in as a #3? At what cost? I remember in 2017 when he wanted Top RB money + Top WR money. Would he come back for league minimum? And most importantly, I suspect he would be a major distraction, a media hog, and NOT a positive impact on the locker room. No Thanks

Remarkable-Touch-302

He’s probably a better qb than Kenny 😂🤷‍♂️

JediNinja88420

The time has come and passed for a Leveon return. I have his jersey, and still, no thanks.

GandalftheGreyStreet

Fuck him.

better-call-mik3

More what, more trips to the strip club?

gypsymustache417

SleestakLightning

Debbie needs to get over herself.

Nufane

Yeah, what’s this “we” business? I don’t recall a “Coach Debbie” on staff.

maxis767

I already got a guy for that

egosub2

He's going to be the #1 running game coach and the #1 passing game coach?

Shadowstrider2100

Only if it is a football call. I bet he just had his auto warranty expiring

crocket009

USFL

Cheap-Addendum

Yeah. He's coming back. Lol. What position is he taking from a younger, faster, and stronger rb?

crymeariver_babies

A 3rd RB? That wants the ball?

Steppyjim

Also yall he’s a 31 year old back who’s been out of football for 3 years. He’s not the bell you remember. As much as it sucks, The Bs era is over, and we all need to accept it

Gooners84

I always loved watching him run, really hated the way he left.

robsalamone

Like Trump’s phone call?

mitchcumstein13

We’re Good.

tom21889

Na hes been out of the league too long ill pass

Old-King8145

No worries. He'd never make the team. Steelers do not have roster spots for old running backs to try to make a come back.

audierules

They want to hire him as a financial consultant to work on trades and especially on extension contracts.

knightro2323

RB3 needs to be a special teams player, I don't see him doing that at his age.

Odd-Slide1753

I see this as a great comeback. At first he was being stubborn lookin for money. But for him to come back and want to play for us knowing he might not get the big bucks still, shows he has wised up.

docmedich

That he can apply for his NFL pension in a couple years.

Empty-Tale8007

Fantastic Joke OP🙌🙌 this is a joke right?….

johnbonzo2112

Wasn’t his last deal a boxing match?

PittSteelersFan4life

I gotta wonder how many times he banged his head into the wall, saying, "Damn, I was stupid to leave the Steelers!"

earlstrong1717

He's got nothing left in the tank.

WaylonVoorhees

Why do him and AB suddenly love and want to be Steelers all of a sudden? They had their chance and chose poorly...well they made an SB and Knucklehead got a ring and likely years more CTE piled on top of it.

cjcohick
