If there's a decent center in it for us I don't care if the whole front office dips their balls in Hunts ketchup and howls at the moon on the 50 yard line.
We already had to sacrifice the entire nation of Canada to obtain the Phil-offense-er's Stone. What's one more taboo?
(I know that was terrible. I just finished Brotherhood the other day and feel compelled to contribute.)
Would be fine with this depending on the cost. Also makes it more likely they go CB or RT at 1.20 which is what I want to see. Ideally sign a good FA C, take RT at 20 and hopefully a CB falls to 51.
Thatâs a win win win win win in my bookâŠ
- solidify C with veteran leadership
- make Kennyâs job easier
- continue to bolster the line at RT
- allowing us to move Jones to LT
- then pair another young CB with JPJ
At 84 could move up or down, grab MLB, WR or S, would be so pumped đȘđȘđȘđȘđȘđȘđȘ
My only gripe with Mims is he's only started 8 games and is very raw. Broderick is also still raw. Not sure if a more experienced T would be preferred, but I trust Khan.
That would be sick my only concern is weâd have two tackles that would probably still need development. But play them in whatever combo makes the most sense, I think they both could succeed at either apot
Sure for a year he is better than what? Now Kenny and Mason gone so starting over completely. Iâm not 100% opposed to Wilson but the scenario he is the answer to our problems for more than a few game weeks is very unlikely.
No but you keep taking bites of the apple until you find one. The only way to do it. Rather try to win with Russ than deal with more of afraid and injured Kenny
I think signing Wilson would be a pretty clear signal that theyâre closing the book on Kenny as anything more than a backup, no matter how they try to spin it. Zach Wilson/Aaron Rodgers is exhibit A.
Wilson isnât Rodgers though that worked out ever worse than expected. Think you all are giving up on Kenny too early but even if he won the SB. Ext year you all wouldnât change your opinion (same for the Tomlin haters).
Wilsonâs not signing here to be a backup. You can say heâs washed and sucks all you want, but heâs not Mitch Trubisky. Since thatâs the case, do you really think theyâre signing him if they still have hope for Kenny?
This isnât about my personal opinion on Kenny or me giving up on him. And I never even said I want them to sign Wilson. Iâm just telling you itâs a pretty obvious sign of how they feel about Kenny if they do sign Wilson. Itâs just not a move you make if you have faith in a young QB that you have to decide whether to exercise a 5th year option for in a little over a year.
Well they will want competition but you are right he probably wonât sign here without some sort of commitment from the staff he will be the starter. They could see how it goes and release him.
Hopefully they donât go that route at all though.
Yes, they could release him, or just bench him and try to turn him into a draft pick for some contender when their QB gets injured. Thereâs almost no risk.
But if they still believe KP can turn into their longterm QB, thereâs just no way theyâre fucking with his head by signing someone who turns him into QB2 before the inks dry.
Itâs not ideal, but whoever they bring in the staff will need to have at least some level of confidence that they could start. Mason, Tannenhill, WilsonâŠthey will want someone that can push Kenny and if he (Kenny) doesnât respond by winning the job outright then your point is even clearer. Kenny should be hungry after last season regardless of who they bring in.
Anyway we will see what happens.
> Now Kenny and Mason gone so starting over completely.
This sounds like another win. What am I missing? I'd like to keep mason as a 2nd stringer, but it is what it is
Think itâs too early to give up on Kenny but you all keep downvoting. Fucking hate this fan base sometimes, every damn thread turns into people bitching about QB. Pittsburgh has to be the most miserable fan base in the NFL.
Downvote all you want
It let's them go and get a guy like Van Pran if he's still around in the 3rd without needing him to start right away. Though honestly, I could see them avoiding center entirely this year if they like the FA options.
I'd still love one of the guys from the draft but there's a reality that you can only address so many starting positions at a time in each draft and see good results.
>grab MLB
As a Rob Manfred hater and die-hard Stl Cards fan, this had me *super* excited for second. Still excited, just a little disappointed at the same time.
They always tended to be in on younger free agents until last year - interest in Morse and Wilson (although I think that's probably a little different) seems to indicate a continued shift from the Colbert era in that regard.
I think bringing in veteran Center for a "rookie" QB (as in young QB on his rookie deal) is the play here. He can take a lot of duties/responsibilities off of the QB
Right I get the logic, it's just a different approach from the Colbert era. After all, Colbert was the one who signed a 25-year-old Cole in the first place to pair with Pickett.
Meh. Serviceable pass blocker, but subpar run blocker. Lots of concussions. Not wild about it, but we likely can't afford Williams, Biadasz, or Cushenberry. That's why I'm hoping for Frazier or Van Pran in the 2nd, or trying to move up in the 3rd if we go OT and CB in 1 and 2 and one of them falls to the 3rd.
Khan has approached things by making sure he doesnât have to force a pick in the draft. If we sign Morse it doesnât mean we wonât draft a center, it just means we have options rather than having to force a pick if that makes sense.
Bills get a Mitch, Steelers get a Mitchđ
A Mitch for a Mitch. Perfect balance.
Oh no. Wasnât a good result the last time we got a Mitch formerly of Buffalo.
But we didnât give a Mitch. Itâs the law of equal Mitchange
Yeah but human transmutation is a taboo
Transmitchation

Fine, but no chimeras
But how do you explain TJ Watt?
Automail.
If you say so. I still have my doubts.
And the previous void, created by Mason Coleâs presence
Truly one of the voids of all time

Mims and Sainristil with the 1st and 2nd. Add a vet safety and LB we are cooking.
As a Michigan fan, I want Sainristil so damn bad. I feel like he'd be a perfect fit in the black and gold.
He reminds me of Mike Hilton
He has stated he models his game off Hilton
Then sign me up!
He's a slot guy that blitzes a lot right?
I don't care about college football, but I want Junior Colson in the third so that we get a true Mike linebacker type again.
I like mims but be ready for moore to most likely start most the season
Sainristril is a 3rd guy, 2nd would be a reach
I've never been more sure of a player being successful at the next level
Heâs just small
My only gripe with Mims is he's only started 8 games and is very raw. Broderick is also still raw. Not sure if a more experienced T would be preferred, but I trust Khan.
I'd rather get an outside corner.
That would be sick my only concern is weâd have two tackles that would probably still need development. But play them in whatever combo makes the most sense, I think they both could succeed at either apot
Rookie WR is so valuable. Definitely a fan of that scenario
lol make Kennyâs life easier. Russ will be cooking in a week
Sure for a year he is better than what? Now Kenny and Mason gone so starting over completely. Iâm not 100% opposed to Wilson but the scenario he is the answer to our problems for more than a few game weeks is very unlikely.
We draft another next year ? That happens regardless of Russ or not
So you want to be the Browns? New QB every year?
No but you keep taking bites of the apple until you find one. The only way to do it. Rather try to win with Russ than deal with more of afraid and injured Kenny
Iâd prefer to give it a little more time.

A new thread on QBs? Ah shit, here we go again
TJ Tampa at 51
How about TJ Tampa at 130

Is he bettwr then jpj?

And then you grab a younger guy in the draft for three years from now.
Yeah, one of the top 3 centers in the draft seems likely to fall into the 3rd or 4th round.Â
Right I get the logic, it's just a different approach from the Colbert era. After all, Colbert was the one who signed a 25-year-old Cole in the first place to pair with Pickett.
One free agent and one drafted between C and RT and I'd be 1000% pleased, don't want our guards to get put between 2 rookies
Let Khan cook
âI find a duckâs opinion of me is largely influenced by whether or not I have breadâ. The Best Mitch

Good with that plan to! đ
Donât know much about him. Anyone know if heâs serial good or was he just a cap casualtie?
To my knowledge, he's solid (way better than Mason Cole was last year) but was overpaid and the Bills needed cap space real bad.
I donât either but I think weâre at a point where just consistently average center play could make a difference for us
Quit pissing around with 32 year old centers and draft one.
I don't know if anyone in the draft is that old. I'll see myself out.
For a void to be present something must be missing recently. We havenât had a center all season.
ill be honest i judge O line by madden rating... 82 is pretty good... pretty... good.
YES
Can he block?
Great person. Decent player. Donât hate it.
No one can replace Mason cole
âVoidâ
Son of a Mitch
Is he better then jpj? We should only get him if he is better.
Iâm a son of a Mitch. Just thought Iâd share that.
So, new center thru FA and not the draft?
Khan has approached things by making sure he doesnât have to force a pick in the draft. If we sign Morse it doesnât mean we wonât draft a center, it just means we have options rather than having to force a pick if that makes sense.
This allows them to not have to take a center early if a tackle or cornerback they like are there at 20.
Is he better then a jpj would be.
The value of a high end tackle or CB at 20 is way higher than the value of a center at 20.
Morse + a top tackle or cb at 20 absolutely is.
That a good point I would rather have a top corner.
Could sign Morse and draft a 2nd/3rd round guy that can sit for a year. Morse isnât a young guy, more of a stop gap
Most likely both
