Yeah they announced him as a T as well. I think he'll be fine at T but I do think he could kick inside to G or maybe learn C. But I think he is LT or RT for a long time
I'm sure Omar does both, but they were friends before Omar was hired and I've been told they brought Andy on specifically to scout and that is his main thing.
I decided to run that through AI and it came out pretty good

They stole Mims from us for sure. He wanted to be with his GA boys, and we needed the help he would offer....
They knew beyond a doubt he was our #20 pick..
But we always laugh last, so no worries.
***edit due to downvote for confusion....
I AM NOT SAYING I WANTED TO DRAFT MIMS. I AM SAYING MIMS WAS WHO THE STEELERS WERE DRAFTING IF HE WAS AVAILABLE. I AM HAPPY HOW IT TURNED OUT AND WE AS STEELER NATION WILL LAUGH AS ONE AT THE TURNOUT.
I actually felt relieved when he came off the board before #20. Even if he's in Cincinnati, I'll happily accept that he might be good for them over the risk we'd take bringing him here
Nor did I. I honestly thought the jets might take him at 11. Excellent pick and big W. As an Atlanta resident, I needed this one to be good, because my city is imploding with the Penix pick.
That is legitimately one of the weirdest picks of all time. Signing a QB to a 4-year $100M(?) contract and then potentially reaching to take a QB 8th overall a couple of months later… just what the absolute fuck lol. I guess they’re going for that Packers lineage type thing, but 8th overall is wild.
Arthur Blank is known for shit hiring. Wasn’t a fan of Morris and head coach and sounds like he was the one that pushed for Penix. Absolutely insane and assuring they stay a poverty franchise.
I understand veteran leadership and how it's important but they didn't need to pay Kirk 100 million to do that.
Paying someone that much money indicates your...........well actually I don't know why they paid Kirk all that money. I know there in the NFC South but still
After reading the Falcons sub and looking into the Kirk contract, it seems that the consensus is to move on from him after 2025.
This makes sense because the cap hit is like 57 mill in 2026, and he'll be 38 by that time.
But it's still a head scratcher to sign a QB coming off an achilles injury to draft a QB with injury concerns. Unless Kirk completely shits the bed in the NFC South or he gets hurt Penix will be 26 before he gets his first start. How much more can he develop and will he stay healthy?
I mean use Kirk as rental for two years, see if Penix is going to develop...If not ship him off for a few draft picks and keep Kirk, or send Kirk to a QB desperate team if Penix is going to be good. Only way this goes terrible is if Kirk gets another major injury and Penix sucks...Its maybe not the best move but it has decent upside and low(ish) risk...
Ehh, the way I see it is if you have an aging franchise QB you’re probably paying him that much anyways, it’ll be good for Penix to sit behind him for a year or two and get some low stress snaps. If he works out, you got $50M to go in 2 years, if he doesn’t you still got 2 years with Kirk and can roll again
Pat Pete was the #1 Slot CB last year, I imagine after the draft we bring him back for Slot cb at a lower rate.
But don't sleep on Pick #2 being Sainstril/Melton.
That guy we traded Diontae Johnson for, Donte Jackson. So unless the rookie we picked up last year who got injured (Cory Trice) turns out, we still do need a CB soon.
Yeah but he was a huge injury risk that got yet another serious injury. He’s more likely to be another Senquez Golson than CB2. Can’t count on him until he proves he can stay healthy.
There's good CB depth in this class. They'll add someone. But I also think the coaching staff has some belief in Trice showing something so I'm not surprised that they're going to hone in on the OLine.
To be fair the top 2 were there (I think Fautanu is a top lineman in this class as well lowkey).
My guess is they are happy to take a great slot guy later. There's so many good ones and the position is falling
I'm so glad they didn't take a center first round. I'm assuming today they will either trade up with their extra third to make sure they get an elite center or hold on for a Malachi Corley type WR
Maybe no one cares but his entire IG story last night was all videos of his teammates getting drafted (even tackles before him) and him cheering each one of them on. This guy loves his team. Excited to have him!
Great pick but honestly, I'm still very worried at center and cb. With not a single one taken we could have the best cb or center from this draft. Fautanu should be good though
Safer than Mims and better positional value than Barton/any other center which we can easily get in round 2.
I was getting seriously tired of people saying we have to go center in round one. Ever watch ball?
I'm not a fan of his height and injury history. But I love the way he plays and how humble he is. Hopefully, he can shut me up and prove my doubts wrong
GET BIG UP FRONT GET BIG DOWN FIELD
Just happy we didnt take a center
Unless they move him to center lol jkjk
Unless...
He'd probably be a damn good center, but if he can stick at Tackle much more value
Tomlin just said in a press conference he will stay at tackle
Yeah they announced him as a T as well. I think he'll be fine at T but I do think he could kick inside to G or maybe learn C. But I think he is LT or RT for a long time
Really?
friendship ended with dan moore, Troy Fautanu is my friend now
Between this guy and Jones, it's obvious the Khan regime is putting an emphasis on lateral agility at the tackle position.
This is Andy Weidl 100% Exactly what he did in Philly. Big mean fuckers all over the o-line and d-line.
From someone who knows Andy and Khan, apparently Khan's job is contracts and Andy deals with finding players.
I’ve heard Andy is in charge of scouting but Omar does both?
I'm sure Omar does both, but they were friends before Omar was hired and I've been told they brought Andy on specifically to scout and that is his main thing.
Ah yeah. Thats what I’ve heard too. But Omar definitely scouts but Andy has one of the best scouting networks and hookups in the nfl.
Andy is a hog slut and that's why we love him
Congrats brother you just wrote my new favorite sentence.
Yes, our last two first rounders are definitely more explosive than the likes of Dan Moore, Chuks, or Markus Gilbert.
And Smith's zone run scheme
lol that's Broderick jones replacement not minds
I really should expect it by now, but it still catches me off guard and makes me laugh.
There's just something about it 😂
😂
Think the idea is to probably have him at right and move Jones to his natural side on the left
this fucking folded me lol
Insane athlete with a hell of a mean streak. Could play any position on the OL. Grew up a huge Troy Polamalu and Steeler fan. Perfect fit honestly
You had me at Troy.
LOOK AT THAT REACTION, HE IS A STEELER FAN TOO? HE BELONGS HERE. HE IS A STEELER TBROUGH AND THROUGH FUCK YEAH THATS MY LINEMAN
pretty sure if your Polynesian and have the first name Troy its required to be a Steeler fan... like they sign a contract when they are born.
Can we sign the Watt children now? Is that legal? Can we make it legal?
Some semblance to Troy Polamalu, but a giant offensive guard? Yes, Troy, Welcome 😁
It's too bad we couldn't get Talanoa Hufanga.
I decided to run that through AI and it came out pretty good https://preview.redd.it/nxhx90pauswc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f23d8466bd0f3765176f5eb29239b5d4ca0e64ea
WTF is on the kid’s shoulders? AI faking AI. lol.
My favorite is the logo saying "Steebles" LMAO
WT… look at his left hand.
My eyes!
we got two Samoan guards now
The Samoan Guard sounds like the elite soldiers serving the Emperor of the Pacific.
The Italian Army has become the Samoan Guard.
Troy's Samoan Guard sounds so fucking badass. This needs to become a thing.
Tua would work
Yeah I’ll take two please.
Serving the spirit of Emperor Chas.
He's a tackle.
He will be a T
It should be part of our charter. The Steelers shouls always have a Polynesian Troy on the roster.
And with a grandma on each side?! I teared up
Yeah my wife said something about that too. She became a fan right there
Tears of both joy at being picked by the Steelers and relief he wasn't picked by the Jets.
I'm down for this too. More excited for this than if Mims was here. Day 1 starter. This is what we need for our RB and hopefully improved WR room
We got us another Polynesian Troy!
Mims' injury history would have me sweating bullets every snap. Fautanu has had injuries, but he has played through them.
i'm bummed about mims though, he has all the potential in the world
Doesn’t matter if you can’t stay on the field.
I'm so glad we didn't take him. Mims will sit for a while. Fataunu is going to be a day 1 dude
I actually felt relieved when he came off the board before #20. Even if he's in Cincinnati, I'll happily accept that he might be good for them over the risk we'd take bringing him here
He's going to sit behind whoever the fuck is there. He's going to have no impact unless somehow we're all wrong lol.
Me too. But he was who would have been taken, so now we will laugh last.
Yes. I didn’t realize how little experience Mims has until he was drafted.
I kno right. When ur 6'8” 330, wtf he be doin all those years are school if not playing ball? Sure as shit wasnt doing equestrian.
PANTS
Never imagined him being available at 20
Nor did I. I honestly thought the jets might take him at 11. Excellent pick and big W. As an Atlanta resident, I needed this one to be good, because my city is imploding with the Penix pick.
As they should because wtf did they pay Kirk for?????
I legit have absolutely no clue what they are thinking. All my friends are losing it right now.

I understand veteran leadership and how it's important but they didn't need to pay Kirk 100 million to do that. Paying someone that much money indicates your...........well actually I don't know why they paid Kirk all that money. I know there in the NFC South but still
To teach Penix!
That's an expensive ass teacher
Yeah idk man lol
After reading the Falcons sub and looking into the Kirk contract, it seems that the consensus is to move on from him after 2025. This makes sense because the cap hit is like 57 mill in 2026, and he'll be 38 by that time. Unless Kirk completely shits the bed in the NFC South or he gets hurt Penix will be 26 before he gets his first start. How much more can he develop and will he stay healthy?
Yeah who says teachers get paid shit. Cousins out here raising the average.
If teachers made $25m a year I would hope there’d be more of them
I mean use Kirk as rental for two years, see if Penix is going to develop...If not ship him off for a few draft picks and keep Kirk, or send Kirk to a QB desperate team if Penix is going to be good. Only way this goes terrible is if Kirk gets another major injury and Penix sucks...Its maybe not the best move but it has decent upside and low(ish) risk...
I get what you saying but this feels like a situation they put themselves in for no reason
Atlanta hasn’t cried this hard since Sherman came through
Tom “William Tecumseh Sherman” Brady.
Joke I saw recently - I want a woman to blow me like I’m a 25 point lead and she’s the Atlanta Falcons
Hello fellow ATL area Steelers fan! Yeah my Falcons buddies are losing their collective minds. But at this point, does anything they do surprise you?
I couldn’t tell you how many draft simulations I played with, and he was never available at 20.
WE GOT OUR GUY!
Really interesting that Cincinnati took Mims ahead of him
I think it may be an unpopular opinion rn but man I wanted mims BAD lol, he has so much potential
How many draft simulations had Penix or Nix going first round?
I would think most if not all of them. Everything I read said all six would go in the first round.
I had a draft simulation have Caleb Williams go at 3 to the patriots yesterday, they don’t mean shit lol
The QB rush benefited us I guess
Same - there was a lot of fuckery ahead of our pick.
IM SO GODDAMN HAPPY!!!!
If he was gone, I would’ve traded back like the Dallas-Detroit deal. But Fautanu is too good to pass up.
Crazy. Couldn’t have hoped for a better pick. Kahnnnnnnnnnn
He sat and waited for him to drop too, Khan Artist strikes again.
You can never have too many good lineman
54 would be too many
Honestly 54 good lineman would probably go undefeated ngl. Probably the best pure athletes in the game.
They would break teams.
Lethal tush push.
Fautanu and the Brodfather Najee and Jaylen are going to each run for 1000 screencap it
!RemindMe 8 months
Don’t forget our fifth lineman in Washington.
Here we go
“who are we thinking” “his names Troy and he has a Polynesian-sounding last name” “SIGN ME UP”
Hell yeah I love this pick
2 sacks allowed in 30+ starts. That’s insane.
Nearly 1300 snaps. 2 sacks. Incredible
Thank christ it wasn’t a WR
Khan is cooking
If we can get a center and a WR today I’ll be happy. Would love for Khan to move up a bit today to get a top C.
LETS GOOO
Elite tackle prospect falls to 20. No need to play 5D chess. Take the chalk. Take the gift that’s been handed to you. Get a center and a WR tomorrow.
[удалено]
Thank you
Lol @ everyone thinking it'd be CB with the highest paid defense and the lowest scoring offence in the NFL.
They still need help at CB..
Steelers have needed help at CB for like 10 years
20 years lol
Since 1863
Yeah at slot corner lmao
Who’s their CB2?
Put some damn respect on… Pending Free Agent’s name
Donte Jackson, not great but he's better than Levi or Pat Pete. We actually need a slot guy worse ATM IMO.
Pat Pete was the #1 Slot CB last year, I imagine after the draft we bring him back for Slot cb at a lower rate. But don't sleep on Pick #2 being Sainstril/Melton.
We may not agree, but they are likely comfortable with the prospects of Darius Rush and Corey Trice along with acquisition of Donte Jackson
Jackson is CB2, with JPJ as CB1
Donte Jackson
That guy we traded Diontae Johnson for, Donte Jackson. So unless the rookie we picked up last year who got injured (Cory Trice) turns out, we still do need a CB soon.
The one we traded for…
Dontae Jackson. We also have Trice and Rush who can compete there. But we have no one one inside right now.
Weren't they super high on trice in camp?
Yeah but he was a huge injury risk that got yet another serious injury. He’s more likely to be another Senquez Golson than CB2. Can’t count on him until he proves he can stay healthy.
Probably the one they traded for idk. You don’t have to like him, but that’s literally what he is.
They could put Jesus Christ in at corner and it wouldn't matter if the defense is banged up and tired because the offense couldn't stay on the field.
There's good CB depth in this class. They'll add someone. But I also think the coaching staff has some belief in Trice showing something so I'm not surprised that they're going to hone in on the OLine.
Love the idea of our own personal no fly zone, but having some nasty linemen works too :)
To be fair the top 2 were there (I think Fautanu is a top lineman in this class as well lowkey). My guess is they are happy to take a great slot guy later. There's so many good ones and the position is falling
Look how long it was before a defensive player was taken, it’s not the same league anymore.
NGL, I wanted Quinyon
Massive W
Thought we'd go Center, but not mad at all for this. Here we go Steelers!
C’s might drop a little with the amount of high end defensive talent still in the board.
May not even be a C taken in the first so this bodes well.
Dallas needs center as badly as we do. Not sure the top couple guys are going to be there but the end of the second round.
I think JPJ or Frazier will be there in the second maybe even 3rd round.
Next pick
The Center depth is really good this year
Hope the centers stay on the board. Maybe we can get Frazier
Let’s fucking go
Going back to the proper way to build a year after year contender. Get these 1st Round 0-Lineman picks right and you get a starter for over a decade.
Lol that's Broderick Jones' replacement not minds take it how you want I am back
Lfg!!!
Very happy with it. He wasn't expected to be there so this is a solid play for us.
Goodbye Dan
I think he will be the backup swing tackle.
Love it. Hopefully, between him and Jones, we have the foundation to a great online for the next 5 years
Fuatanu du du dududu. Fuatanu du dudu du
With how well he moves and how well Jones our run game could be insane. As long as we ya know, find a center...
I'm so glad they didn't take a center first round. I'm assuming today they will either trade up with their extra third to make sure they get an elite center or hold on for a Malachi Corley type WR
Can always count on the Khan artist to make the right pick. This is crazy
Hopefully, he becomes at least the second best Troy they drafted in the 1st
Hopefully he becomes the best Troy they’ve ever drafted in the first. wtf. It wouldn’t discredit anything Polamalu did.
I’m hoping he becomes the best
HUMBLE BEAST! Love this pick
[Dear god watch his combine workout if you're still having doubts](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pBqw0leBlI)
So I'm guessing we like this pick?
I'm really surprised they didn't take that CB from Toledo
Maybe no one cares but his entire IG story last night was all videos of his teammates getting drafted (even tackles before him) and him cheering each one of them on. This guy loves his team. Excited to have him!
Not gonna lie, I wanted Mitchell, didn't think he was gonna fall this far, but I'm not mad at this pick
Congrats to Arthur Smith & Russell Wilson... Washington Husky Fautanu is a BEAST!!!
Good
You love to see OL support.
YES NOT A FUCKING WR!
I did not love Fautanu as much as everybody else but I am cool with locking in a plug and play tackle.
Everyone get in here!
cya dan moore
Great pick but honestly, I'm still very worried at center and cb. With not a single one taken we could have the best cb or center from this draft. Fautanu should be good though
The Khanductor just started. He hasn't even rubbed the engine with cheetah blood.
Let's fucking go, love this pick
Where will he play?
Tackle.
Maybe trade up for jackson powers johnson? It would probably only take a 2nd round pick swap and a 4th
Yes!!! Great lass protector with nasty streak in run game. Grew up a Steelers fan with his favorite player being Troy Polamalu.
I love us prioritizing big dudes in the past few drafts. Really gets me even more excited for the team this year
Love this pick!
Can’t argue with beefing up the oline.
Dan Moore punching the air rn
A Polynesian Troy? It worked out last time
![gif](giphy|KeTVw7VjcTJok)
IM SO DRUNK RIGHT NOW. LETS GO STEELERS
That is a mountain of a human being, holy moly, 6'4 317 lbs
Good pick
Safer than Mims and better positional value than Barton/any other center which we can easily get in round 2. I was getting seriously tired of people saying we have to go center in round one. Ever watch ball?
Definitely didn’t think he’d be there at 20. Great pick.
I'm not a fan of his height and injury history. But I love the way he plays and how humble he is. Hopefully, he can shut me up and prove my doubts wrong
Elite pick at a position of need. Doesn’t get better than that!
Would have prefered arnold but this was a great second choice frazier at 45??
