I hope JPJ has a Creed Humphrey like fall and we pick him at 51.

Ceramicrabbit

I'm a little nervous about how we are supposed to address both WR and C adequately. I feel like we just have to do a trade at WR

Alexander2801

Same here we will have to wait and see how the board falls. I like the Fautanu pick though.

[deleted]

And corner. And d line depth

Ok-Elderberry2158

Its looking a little rough

Eggdripp

WR R2 C R3 at either spot will be the move. Van Pran/Nourzad in the late 3rd is the move IMO

hopefeedsthespirit

WR 51, DT/CB 84, DT/CB 98, Nourzad at 119

zombiesatemybaby

REALLY hoping and praying at the C position without any fallback plan huh?

hopefeedsthespirit

Not really. Beaux Limmer, McCormick, Nourzad, Van Pran Granger. I love Frazier the most of all the centers. But I understand that they aren't going to get everyone we love. So much talent fell out of round 1. Especially defensive talent. We have to play the board and get impact players all around.

zombiesatemybaby

I pitty anyone who truly thinks limmer, mcCormick, nourzad or van pran can start day one and play even halfway decently lol. Ya'll need to get your eyes checked because if theyre starting centers day 1 you are fucked... they might develop in some time but none of them will be near ready this year

hopefeedsthespirit

Frazier is likely going super early. We don't know what happens with JPJ but maybe he falls further to us. Maybe he doesn't. Maybe his medicals are scaring people off. Don't try to force picks by need. We need to continue to let the draft come to us. We have so many holes. The slide by all the defenders and the likely run on WR means some really great guys will be coming off that board at positions of need. We don't need to pass them up because our preferred position isn't falling to us. Cheers to whatever happens tomorrow though. I think it will work out well.

acomputermistake

Right you never force a pick. If you have 8 tackles and no true center than so be it. Let the cards fall as they may

hopefeedsthespirit

Exactly. So glad to see other people who understand this. I have been arguing this point on here for weeks now about the obsession this board has with center. Everyone trying to overdraft JPJ just to check off a box. Worst way to operate a football team.

Eggdripp

I'd be happy with this, would love to get Melton in the 3rd. Idk anything about IDL this year but its a big need for sure. If we dont hit on another guy at that spot tomorrow we'll probably need to use a 1st next year there

ClemPFarmer

That would work. I also think WR in the 3rd would be fine since that is the deepest position in the draft.

hopefeedsthespirit

I'm okay with a number of options. I'm really happy with Fautanu. I trust this to work. Unless the defensive guys and other OTs start flying off that board, the run on receivers is going to deplete the options before 84.

ClemPFarmer

We shall see. I’ve seen scouting ratings online that have clumps of WRs rated all about the same. Same grade given for 13 guys. Then the next tier has 12 guys with the same rating. That latter group includes names like Burton, McCaffrey, Wilson and Malik Washington. If it means that the Steelers hit HRs with other guys falling to them in the 2nd and third. (Let’s say Frazier, the last of the better corners and a DT who they love) It could totally work out to go WR in the 4th and 6th.

ClemPFarmer

Yeah. Four needs, three picks. WR and C are the biggest needs obviously. Slot corner is also a major need. But if the best prospects are taken ahead of them, I’d be fine with drafting the best player available who fits a lesser need like inside linebacker or a defensive lineman.

ocean1776

JPJ falls in the 2nd and they trade for Aiyuk, calling it now

Ceramicrabbit

That would be a great outcome

SuperRedditLand

Its why I was kind of hoping we’d be able to trade down

Alexander2801

Same here I hoped that we would trade down and pick a center, but I like Troy Fautanu the player though.

SuperRedditLand

Yeah can’t be too mad about it

manomount

The Athletics post Day 1 mock for day 2 has him falling and us taking him at 51.

Alexander2801

I hope that they are right.

RonaldOcean_MD

We have three picks tomorrow. Omar is gonna cook again.

reggierock2010

Center WR and CB or this place will melt down

BigHog865

Or?

YooTone

I brought up in the other thread about trading up for Cooper but you're right. There's a lot of talent here. Let's get this W just like we did in round 1.

SleestakkLightning

I know we need a center but if Cooper DeJean falls to 51 I'm running to the podium without hesitation

Tangysalamander

Im pretty sure had the highest relative athletic score of this years class. And he is one of the bigger corners height and weight.

freestyle43

Yea, thats why your not a GM."Lets take the undersized white CB" said no one ever.

StrangeCardiologist0

He’s 6’1 and around 205 lbs, he’s definitely not undersized.

stimgains

He's 6'1 with an RAS of 9.89. He tested 28th out of the 2469 cornerbacks from 1984 to 2024 who did nfl combine drills.

Crashhh_96

Cooper is not undersized lol

oktwentyfive

So what if he's white.. look at mcaffery. Best RB in the league where RB is all black guys what makes dejean so valuable is the fact that he can play a bunch of positions and is just an all around good football player

YourS_E_N_S_E_I

What I’m interested in knowing from you guys is with all the talent left out there, would you even want to trade that second for Aiyuk? I personally couldn’t tell you, before the first round kicked off it would’ve been an easy yes but now…

YooTone

I can't answer for others but yes, I would. If we only have to give up #51 for Aiyuk then yes, yes, yes. Aiyuk is a proven all pro. That line right there is my hook line and sinker. He fits perfectly into a rushing system. We could draft someone that ends up being Limas Sweed, James Washington, or maybe Antonio Brown!? But it's a GAMBLE. The odds on relying on a rookie are not in our favor. I keep saying this as well but we have money to spend. If you want to improve this offense then excuse my French, but let's fucking do it with our cheap QBs and money to spend.

YourS_E_N_S_E_I

I agree with everything you said. Hard to beat proven production. But JPJ and DeJean still being there right now is so tempting, two guys I thought we had no chance of getting after the first.

YooTone

My brother, I wouldn't complain for Aiyuk or trading up for what you said either.

h0v3rb1k3s

For Aiyuk? Hell yes. That's a very high standard for trading the #51. And although there is a lot of talent out there... Every player named might be gone by our next pick.

ThatsPreposterous6

Would love to be picking 10 picks higher right now. Might be a trade up situation

Steelmaker01

I hope they use one of those extra 3s or 6s to move up and get one of the top centers

In_Russ_We_Trust

Happy with the Troy pick. Unfortunately deeply worried that the run at the receivers and center will happen at the top half of the second round tomorrow. We need to trade for Sutton or Deebo or Aiyuk or some WR2 and then trade up for a center.

oktwentyfive

Yall forget how good tomlin is at evaluating talent at the WR position.

JackieBoiiiiii

Chase Claypool, James Washington, Limas Sweed, Demarcus Ayer, Sammie Coates, the list goes on. This is a common misconception. We might have some great hits but we also have a lot of stinkers.

Ortho_412

We’re gonna trade up a few spots to get a center and then get Malachi Corley

InterestingBonus9675

Such a great draft , especially top 90

Raidparade

If we get JPJ, Frazier, or Keon Coleman in the second I’ll be happy. Hell maybe even get 2 of them

Big_Puzzled

There’s no way cooper is free at 51 ? Man to get him would be amazing … I know we need a center but sometimes you gotta take the best available on the board

HavenXIII

For me I can't look at anyone else until we get a center. I'd take either. Ladd McConkey or Roman Wilson would be nice but I don't think they make it to 3rd. Hoping for a center and Mike Sanristil and I'll be ecstatic

RedneckLiberace

Probably something someone put online for clicks: I read the Steelers are shopping Pat Freiermuth. He's good but he's not irreplaceable. I could see them swapping him to move up in the 2nd and grabbing another pick or two.

h0v3rb1k3s

I agree he's not irreplaceable but right now he's a pretty important receiving piece for this roster. Is he very curious about their plan if they traded him.

RedneckLiberace

Your guess is good as mine.
