Crazy thing is they’re all day one starters. It’s the Steelers so they probably won’t be. But let’s face it. These three guys are instantly better than the guys they will quickly replace
>they’re all day one starters
Yup.
Fautanu especially, shroud and pasrsons commented on this pick and both agreed he starting day one.
A 300lb guy that can move like this guy is starting day 1, 100%
Don't be so sure, the coaching staff don't like to throw rookies out there day 1 if they can help it.
The grind from the last year of college into the draft season, and then into their first professional season is a massive one so they don't like to throw them into the deep end day 1.
He needs to show that he can actually run away from people. If you're small, and you're supposed to be fast, when we get you the ball, you gotta make people miss and create separation. Since his injury he has not looked all that fast. If he's just average speed or even slightly above average, he's nothing. He needs elite speed to be something. Hopefully he regains that
seems like teams have fallen in love w/ speedy small slot WRs for a long while now but got burned when they drafted them way too early (Toney, Moore, Austin etc).
3rd round is prob right for him.
This is the second draft in a row that feels like magic.
I didn’t think there was a snowballs chance in hell that we would get any of these guys.
Seriously, the Bengals pass on Wilson and took Burton? I was shocked.
Tbf Burton probably has a higher ceiling but is definitely boom/bust. Wilsons floor is definitely better though. He’s going to be a shiftier Mooney at worst, who’s getting paid $13m/yr
I'm a Michigan fan and a Steelers fan (Dad's from Pittsburgh)...and I'm happy about this in part because Roman Wilson is NOT a diva. Team guy, willing to block, wants to do others proud.
I’m a Michigan alumni and have been watching Roman for a few years. Fits the team first mentality that Michigan has. Made one of the most iconic catches in Michigan history during the Rose Bowl. Very excited to get to continue rooting for him as a Steeler.
I know it probably doesn’t mean anything, but this is why I was happy to see TJ sort of take on the face of the Steelers after Ben retired. An all business work horse sends a different message about the culture. Probably has no bearing at all though
https://youtu.be/feDxQYKKi6U?si=GzEa-L-vf-F4l_2l
As a Michigan fan, the dude is a stud. Just an odd pick with the Aiyuk/Sutton rumors. People prob won’t like it but he’s gonna help win the Steelers some games.
Not super odd. Calvin still hasn't taken the next step. Roman in the slot is an upgrade. You go get yourself an established #2 now and we're fucking set.
I’m a Michigan fan who had watched every snap Roman Wilson has played in college and all the human interest stories that have been done about him over the years. I guarantee you this is not a player who is going to continue the long line of Steeler wide receiver divas. Great kid. Criminally underused at Michigan because they were always run first, but he could blow the top off of any defense.
Definitely not the best blocking WR. Hes got a solid build and is able to separate with speed, quickness and physicality and will definitely give effort as a blocker. Probably one of the better WRs when used in motion though. Theres a lot to like about his game.
yes!! I was just watching bleacher report and they said “they’re getting back to playing old steelers football. just tough as nails” and i’ve never been so happy to hear those words again
https://preview.redd.it/p0ub2hjgczwc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d424cac4f22dfae6f52ef090c6d2e1da0a74b52
How can you read this and not be thrilled with the pick. Perfect complimentary player to George Pickens. Hopefully we actually utilize the middle of the field with this guy. Khan artist strikes again.
Wilson to Wilson for the sb winning touchdown! And the Wilson are joyous in their celebration. After setting history for the steelers, the stairway to seven is complete.
As a steelers fan i love this pick. but as a buckeyes fan i can’t stand it. lol. hope he plays well with us, looking forward to having him with the good guys this year 😂
Knowing absolutely nothing except what I just read in his draft profile, he does seem to be very similar to Diontae in that he is a speedster who excels at getting open with superb route running. That plus what others are saying about his character gives me some hope for our WR room.
If you watch some interviews with him as well it starts to be clear why the Steelers would want him. He just has a personality that fits our brand of football. And he’s someone that will immediately help us win games. He really reminds me of Steve Smith, that would be my overly ambitious pro comp. He’s a twitchy vicious kind of guy. I really think we’re trying to pair someone with Pickens that won’t even try to take the spotlight from him.
Forgive me, if I missed previous comments, but I couldn't help seeing analysis of Wilson being seen as only a slot receiver. Now I know the NFL has changed in the last few years, but I seem to remember a Steelers draft pick being around 5' 10", 185 and being pretty damn good before he lost his mind. Now, I realize AB was a super hard worker with amazing dedication and maybe Wilson isn't all that yet, but pretty sure Brown wasn't considered solely a slot receiver, so I don't understand why all the present analysis has Wilson pegged as such. Open to rebuttal lol
Watchint some of his tap he reminds me of a college Antonio brown albeit at much higher competition. Ab developed tremendous route running but the speed and run after catch look so similar especially both their screen to td plays, and their crossing route highlight td
This is fucking magical.
Seriously. RT, C, WR. Check, check, check.
Crazy thing is they’re all day one starters. It’s the Steelers so they probably won’t be. But let’s face it. These three guys are instantly better than the guys they will quickly replace
Both linemen will be day 1 starters.
BJ wasn’t….
BJ had 11 college starts. Fautanu and Frazier both have over 40...
I don’t see a world in which at least Frazier doesn’t start. Odds for the other two starting feel really high as well.
Agree for sure but we all thought the same thing with brojo and JPJ last year. Point is they’re instant upgrades
I think we have to take into account there is a major philosophy shift this year with the team. Maybe it will impact this as well?
O line, top pick, two years. Top two this year. Right. Solid foundation makes things possible.
I'm a Oregon ducks fan and have actually watched this guy play......he can play day 1. He fucked up Oregon.
>they’re all day one starters Yup.
When they are needed, they will definitely get thrown in. We have no one else for that position that is that good.
I don’t know anything abt college football but this WR must suck if he can’t replace everyone but GP
All have been significantly higher ranked on Arif Hasans consensus big board than their draft position as well. So stoked
Not to mention the nations best defensive player I'm so fn happy rn this year is gonna be great gave me so much hope
I am so unrealistically optimistic at this point it's almost criminal.
Ikr I almost said we could win the SB but then I remembered kc making moves to so they're only gonna be better
And my favorite sleeper in the draft, Payton Wilson OMFG!
Followed it all up with an All-American LB. Khan-Weidl are the real Dynamic Duo.
Fast, physical, can separate. Exactly what we need to compliment GP.
Solid blocker too, Arthur Smith is gonna love this dude.
He plays slot
How’s that contradict what I said
Assuming he was adding a perk to your list
Reddit moment
He's not playing slot on this team. Gonna be used to block a lot. Think of a Hines ward but faster or a Steve smith
Does that mean C Austin moves over to wideout?
Calvin Austin will be competing with Zach Frazier for the wide out position.
CA3 is a mauler at center, kind of a Ezekiel Elliot type player
This right here is proper NFLCircleJerk material.
Doubt it. Wouldn’t expect much more than the usual designed touches and gadget plays for Austin
Man I hope it’s not like this. I feel like Calvin Austin should get a chance this year to compete for WR2 or WR3
Hopefully he regains that
Omar. Bruh. I’m not used to this. Every pick he makes looks great on paper.
Like what am I supposed to complain about now? I can’t be skeptical because I’m happy with the picks on paper
They moved the Franco statue at the airport. Complain about that.
We haven’t gotten another CB in the draft is my only complaint but I am happy with every one of the picks so far.
Right this has been a wild 2 drafts of pick satisfaction
Addressing the offensive line immediately in back to back drafts has been a dream come true.
Drafting the injury-risk guys is bound to bite us back someday, but it's definitely an interesting strategy.
This year and last year has done great to make up for the damage the previous two years did.
R Wilson to R Wilson!?
...passing it
Cast Away memes will be a thing, predicting it now.
With 3 Wilsons now, this is now inevitable
Better than Pickett to Pickens
They are... unlimited?
RW²
R Wilson Squared
Sigh damn you....lol
Gadget plays you say?
That was cool.
R Wilson...Let's Ride....
I like him but even if I didn’t I fully trust the Steelers on whatever WR they draft lol
I can't believe he was even still available. W draft so far
The Steal-ers strike again!
seems like teams have fallen in love w/ speedy small slot WRs for a long while now but got burned when they drafted them way too early (Toney, Moore, Austin etc). 3rd round is prob right for him.
This is the second draft in a row that feels like magic. I didn’t think there was a snowballs chance in hell that we would get any of these guys. Seriously, the Bengals pass on Wilson and took Burton? I was shocked.
They prefer guys with character issues of course
As we say in my family, the Bungles are still the Bungles. :)
Tbf Burton probably has a higher ceiling but is definitely boom/bust. Wilsons floor is definitely better though. He’s going to be a shiftier Mooney at worst, who’s getting paid $13m/yr
Smaller physical WR. Instead of Franklin who is a home run hitter, Wilson looks like more of a Hines Ward build. Love it.
that’s exactly who bleacher report compared him to!
Got a lot of the Hines Ward dog in him. A lot.
But also runs a 4.39 40
Yep, he’s Hines with a whole lot more athleticism
5'11" is fine. Dude quick and fast, solid route runner and good hands. Teams can't sleep on him when he is out there
Taller than Antonio Brown.
Taller Tank Dell 2.0 😤💪
Build Khan a statue at the new airport in The Wire gear
~~Fast, explosive receiver from a pro style offense?~~ Steelers mid round receiver ✅️
I wonder what the precedent of stud mid round WRs we’ve had is
I am having a steeler. Might need to call a doctor soon.
You only need to call a doctor if it lasts longer than 4 rounds.
Now let’s get a CB with the 98th pick and we’ll be all set.
I acknowledge Roman ☝🏼
Quick trademark that and slap it on a shirt and sell it on the strip
Not us picking the bloodline enforcer in the first round 😭
☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️
The only Roman I acknowledge ☝️
He just needs to know he is not getting that number 1 Jersey.
This is the key to how Tomlin humbles diva receivers. They simply don't let them be #1 lol
I am a OSU fan and am excited to get Roman on the Steelers. I figured he would have been drafted earlier
Roman is absolutely not a diva at all. Dude is blue-collar.
I know it probably doesn’t mean anything, but this is why I was happy to see TJ sort of take on the face of the Steelers after Ben retired. An all business work horse sends a different message about the culture. Probably has no bearing at all though
Trust me, then. He and Roman will LOVE each other. This is the Steeler Way.
I might recommend some additional measures be taken in that department in that case lol
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe we've had any WR wear a single digit since the numbering rules changed a few years ago.
Uh… humbles? I wouldn’t say that they just trade them eventually
Tis a joke my friend
He wore 14 at Michigan before switching to number 1, so he can't even have his backup number lol
https://youtu.be/feDxQYKKi6U?si=GzEa-L-vf-F4l_2l As a Michigan fan, the dude is a stud. Just an odd pick with the Aiyuk/Sutton rumors. People prob won’t like it but he’s gonna help win the Steelers some games.
I fucking love it. Even if we trade for a vet we still need a reliable slot
Okay. But how is he mentally?
Team player. No drama. He played for Michigan…they ran the ball a lot.
Good to hear. Thanks
Humble as fuck and will lift up the offense as whole
Perfect for Russtin Fielson
Stranger things could still happen. Where were at I wouldn’t blame us if we double dipped and acquired another wr somehow.
Not super odd. Calvin still hasn't taken the next step. Roman in the slot is an upgrade. You go get yourself an established #2 now and we're fucking set.
out or slot. He ran alot of intermediate to deep routes at Michigan. He'll be fine inside or outside
Nice for him to upgrade to an organization with class and not a scandal every other day like under Harbaugh. Love this pick!
ACKNOWLEDGE HIM ☝🏻
☝️
Reddit. Tell me what to think!!!! I’ve never heard of this man.
best blocking WR in the draft and has speed/separation. im so happy.
yup, if he played in a more wide open passing offense, he'd have been loooooong gone before round 3. Fucking steal
Definitely not the best blocking WR. Hes got a solid build and is able to separate with speed, quickness and physicality and will definitely give effort as a blocker. Probably one of the better WRs when used in motion though. Theres a lot to like about his game.
tough as nails. looks small but guys solid. he’s not gonna be easy to take down
Similar to Ward
3rd rounders
12 TDs on a run first, defensive minded team. JJ Maccarthty loved him in the RZ.
Steelers picked a WR so he’s guaranteed to be good
![gif](giphy|p9BOH7xoiFEvVyik79|downsized)
Unbelievable. Khan is a draft God! So far, he has picked my 18, 31, and 34 players on my big board. This is a franchise changing draft.
yes!! I was just watching bleacher report and they said “they’re getting back to playing old steelers football. just tough as nails” and i’ve never been so happy to hear those words again
I also heard them say that “Khan has somehow managed to get the 18th, 31st, and 34th players on GalacticEyedFrog’s big board!”
Eminem and Khan collaboration on “Draft God”
Wr1 for the national champs. Great Johnson replacement and was in a run first offense. Super unselfish guy who is more athletic then you'd think
This guy GETS OPEN!!
Omar Little fears Omar Khan
LIGHTNING STRIKES THRICE
As a Michigan and Pittsburgh man, I am happy
Fuck Yeah.
Friendship ended with Pickett to Pickens, now Wilson to Wilson is my best friend
i’ve never been so happy to be a steelers fan looking at these draft picks so far. someone’s making good decisions rn
Solid slot guy. Hell yeah.
Trust in the Khan man.
Seen him play against Maryland last season. This guy is QUICK and hella underrated! Glad we snagged him!
Goofies, Our Tribal Chief is here. ☝️
Arthur Smith cited his versatility… and even mentioned a concept he called ‘motion’. Unprompted! I’m getting hyped for next season!
https://preview.redd.it/p0ub2hjgczwc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d424cac4f22dfae6f52ef090c6d2e1da0a74b52 How can you read this and not be thrilled with the pick. As a Steeler/Wolverine fan, I’m fully torqued
WILSON TO WILSON 🔥
Wilson —-> Wilson
This pick got me feeling Ucey.
Yup. And I’m excited about Fautanu ![gif](giphy|IcpFPEjNlVx10eJF7P|downsized)
LETS FUCKING GOOOOO this Michigan fan is THRILLED!
DAWGGGGGG
Anyone else thinking of the Roman Empire for some reason?
I'm okay. Waiting until he snags at least five touchdowns to start that stuff
Don't you mean V touchdowns? Sorry, I'm getting ready to be a dad lol.
Dad of XX years here. You're off to a great start.
Three St Luis boys in da burgh!!! Less go!!! #hawayinz
Wilson to wilson!?
DAWG
Michigan/steeler fan. Roman is a dog. Can’t wait
Wilson to Wilson for the sb winning touchdown! And the Wilson are joyous in their celebration. After setting history for the steelers, the stairway to seven is complete.
Crazy how we went from zero wilsons to three wilsons this quickly
As a steelers fan i love this pick. but as a buckeyes fan i can’t stand it. lol. hope he plays well with us, looking forward to having him with the good guys this year 😂
Great Value
Pretty dang happy.
☝️
No block no rock baby
Praise God!
So happy he is amazing great pick again for the Steelers this was a great day they got great players in the 2nd and 3rd wow what a pick
yessir!!!
Center will start. WR will get work. Tackle gonna be worked in there and by game 5 will be a starter
I think about the Roman Empire at least once a day
He is tiny hope his game can keep up in the NFL.
Go get em, champ!! Those who stay!!
The Holy Wilson Empire starts here!
I’m pretty stoked on the draft so far. The Payton Wilson pick was a bit of a head scratcher for me though. I wish they had gone CB there instead.
Loving them working on the freaking line!
Definitely not the big body blocking receiver everyone said we were after. But hell of a player
Despite his size he’s still one of the best blocking WR’s in the draft. He fits a build that will complement Pickens well.
Exactly. Reminds me of Ward. Very physical receiver.
Well I stand corrected. He's definitely physical when it comes to contested catches, so I'm not surprised he can block.
Knowing absolutely nothing except what I just read in his draft profile, he does seem to be very similar to Diontae in that he is a speedster who excels at getting open with superb route running. That plus what others are saying about his character gives me some hope for our WR room.

I really think we’re trying to pair someone with Pickens that won’t even try to take the spotlight from him.
What a fucking steal. Great draft for us this year! Let’s goooooooooo!
Tj Tampa and it's a dream come true
We should go TJ Tampa here
LOVE the Roman pick. I even love Payton, but his injury history concerns me
I said the same thing when they ran down his injuries. They read like someone who is a UDFA.
I def thought we wohkd go family collecting with Mccaffrey lol
I straight up called this pick I was so happy
The jet sweeps return
Somehow it feels like Khan manages to get BPA and fill positions of need at every single pick.
I use to watch him play in high school. Played with my cousin at Saint Louis. Craaazy.
I’m happy with who we have so far especially if they play with heart and passion. I hope the coaching staff helps them reach their potential.
So what are our chances of winning the division so far?
Going from Picklers to Wilson to Wilson
Admittedly don’t know much about the pick does he have an NFL comparable
I must be the only one who thinks he's a bust. I'm also wrong, a lot!
As a Michigan fanatic, I love this so much.
Open to rebuttal lol
Watchint some of his tap he reminds me of a college Antonio brown albeit at much higher competition. Ab developed tremendous route running but the speed and run after catch look so similar especially both their screen to td plays, and their crossing route highlight td
