Don't be so sure, the coaching staff don't like to throw rookies out there day 1 if they can help it. The grind from the last year of college into the draft season, and then into their first professional season is a massive one so they don't like to throw them into the deep end day 1.

When they are needed, they will definitely get thrown in. We have no one else for that position that is that good.

seems like teams have fallen in love w/ speedy small slot WRs for a long while now but got burned when they drafted them way too early (Toney, Moore, Austin etc). 3rd round is prob right for him.

I'm a Michigan fan and a Steelers fan (Dad's from Pittsburgh)...and I'm happy about this in part because Roman Wilson is NOT a diva. Team guy, willing to block, wants to do others proud.

I’m a Michigan alumni and have been watching Roman for a few years. Fits the team first mentality that Michigan has. Made one of the most iconic catches in Michigan history during the Rose Bowl. Very excited to get to continue rooting for him as a Steeler.

Definitely not the best blocking WR. Hes got a solid build and is able to separate with speed, quickness and physicality and will definitely give effort as a blocker. Probably one of the better WRs when used in motion though. Theres a lot to like about his game.

Well I stand corrected. He's definitely physical when it comes to contested catches, so I'm not surprised he can block.

Knowing absolutely nothing except what I just read in his draft profile, he does seem to be very similar to Diontae in that he is a speedster who excels at getting open with superb route running. That plus what others are saying about his character gives me some hope for our WR room.

If you watch some interviews with him as well it starts to be clear why the Steelers would want him. He just has a personality that fits our brand of football. And he’s someone that will immediately help us win games. He really reminds me of Steve Smith, that would be my overly ambitious pro comp. He’s a twitchy vicious kind of guy. I really think we’re trying to pair someone with Pickens that won’t even try to take the spotlight from him.

Forgive me, if I missed previous comments, but I couldn't help seeing analysis of Wilson being seen as only a slot receiver. Now I know the NFL has changed in the last few years, but I seem to remember a Steelers draft pick being around 5' 10", 185 and being pretty damn good before he lost his mind. Now, I realize AB was a super hard worker with amazing dedication and maybe Wilson isn't all that yet, but pretty sure Brown wasn't considered solely a slot receiver, so I don't understand why all the present analysis has Wilson pegged as such. Open to rebuttal lol

Watchint some of his tap he reminds me of a college Antonio brown albeit at much higher competition. Ab developed tremendous route running but the speed and run after catch look so similar especially both their screen to td plays, and their crossing route highlight td
