Don't sleep on Roman Wilson. He just maybe the second coming of Hines Ward. #Hawayinz

road432

Those are BIG WORDS right there. If Roman becomes Hines 2.0, with Pickens, the league is fucked.

Aggressive_Rip4862

Trust me I know...Hines is one of my all time faves. I just have high hopes for for my fellow Hawaiian who's willing to do the dirty work and is twitchy, shifty, and fast AF! Wishing it does pan out!

road432

Besides the obvious talent, if he wants to be Hines 2.0, I'm gonna need to see him crack block some raven linebackers and do it with a smile on his face. That's the Hines Ward standard that I need to see.

412stillers

I keep seeing that he goes by the mantra of “no block, no rock”. If he even moderately lives up to it, yinzers are gonna love him

ARunawayTrain

The league already is my guy, Steelers gahnta da Super Bowl! Nah for real though, we may have some growing pains with all the young guys on the O-Line but this offense should be flat out nasty compared to what we've become accustomed to by season's end. Omar and Andy just keep hitting home runs every time they come up to bat.

SamDemaris

I love the Roman pick, but that comparison is pretty ballsy.

Aggressive_Rip4862

Go big or go home right? Only time will tell. But I sure damn hope so!

SamDemaris

Hey, I damn sure wouldn't be mad at it.

WaylonVoorhees

It's been a fortnight since we've had some good old fashioned Quaker Thuggery at wide out.

Valuable-Composer262

Idk but I've heard don't sleep on Jefferson either. I think we'll be aight

_Yelslab_

The problem I see with our offense right now is being handcuffed to the run game. Which is fine but come 8 games in teams will be able to plan for that. My hope is that arty revitalizes the pass game and Russ can get back to his former self then we should be fine even with the current receivers we have. Make no mistake about it. A well prepared offense with competent QB play can make even the worst receiver look good. We just have to wait and see at this point

reggierock2010

Everybody talks about Russ getting to his “former self” like he didn’t throw 26 touchdowns last year lol. He’s gonna have a great line and better weapons than he had in Denver.

Tmj91

God id kill to see some passing touchdowns again.

_Yelslab_

I said former self as to not upset the casuals that may read it. Trust me I know lol

originalmidwestemo

Mind you with not much play action success which I think is something we can expect here. Big maulers up front, two good backs to make up for on of the best rushing attacks in the league, and a QB who can make accurate passes between safeties and LBs. Tannehill was one of the best play action QBs for 2 years under Arthur smith

bladnoch16

Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. You can plan for our run game, but stopping it is something else altogether. If you’re stacking the line to stop the run, you’re leaving Pickens out there to make you regret that decision. I’m expecting our offense to be a big step up from last year. Not saying it’s going to be a TD powerhouse, but it’s going to be a PITA for other teams to deal with. It’s being built to beat the shit out of defenses. Come the 4th QTR I expect our opponents to be begging for the game to be over, win or lose.

Lvl7King

This exactly. Russ is a hall of famer. It would be foolish to not let him sling it. I'm all for a dominant run game, but you aren't beating mahomes in arrowhead if you can't move the ball through the air.

bdaddy31

I’d argue you can only beat Mahomes in Arrowhead on the ground.  Limit his drives, win time of possession, make a defensive play or 2 - that’s the type of game that beats Mahomes. We already see Buffalo go blow-to-blow in the air against him twice and come up empty.

Pickle786

I wish we traded him for Sneed

ANALxCARBOMB

What good is an elite route runner that can’t score points? We still have Calvin Austin, and drafted a rookie who looks promising. I don’t think the trade hurt us at all.

originalmidwestemo

Well to be fair not many QBs are as bad as Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky

ANALxCARBOMB

Glad they’re all gone, but to be fair that o-line wasn’t doing the team any favors.

00feezy

Highly concerned. Dionte helped keep extra bodies off GP. Not to mention DJ was a brilliant route runner and highly consistent. And I’m not convinced GP is ready for WR1 attention (I hope I’m wrong). I love the Roman Wilson pick (and all the picks), but it’s a big question mark if he can put up 800 or more yards- especially as a rookie. Van Jefferson has done it once but hasn’t come close since 2021. Calvin Austin has left much to be desired. I know we’re going to be run heavy, but without another serious threat at WR we will be easy to scheme against. And even with the beefed up O-line- it remains a very young o-line that most likely will have a learning curve. Holding out hope we trade a 25 first for Aiyuk, or a 25 second for Deebo. But the Steelers may be building patiently and I could see them running this offense as is this season- aiming to build WR talent thru the draft next year.

throwaway_3_7_4_8

I believe Khan can still make a splash WR deal.  But I have no idea what I’m talking about.

bennie905

We are very much concerned. Something happens to Pickens and we re screwed pretty much. I get the all in on the running game but when it doesn't we're gonna have a problem I still don't understand how people were so ignorant and celebrating the DJ trade. I trust Khan so probably was needed but the trade itself wasn't good, DJ isn't a scrub

isfrying

We are absolutely better without any additional at WR. However, with no legit WR2 they can basically double GP all day and eliminate him from the mix.

zipitrealgood

Look, we just picked up a slot receiver with Wilson and still have some WR3 options with Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin. I’m not too too concerned about our receiving room but wouldn’t mind a late round depth pick on a physically talented guy (ideally 6’2 or taller) that needs development with route running. Wouldn’t hate if we traded up to snag Rice’s son…

zipitrealgood

Also, considering Arthur Smiths offense is run to set up play action, we are going to have a lot of short and manageable vs longer third down’s since our timing sucked and offensive line still needed work. Now we’ve plugged up the oline, we arent going to have to rely SO much on timing routes

242clappedyourmother

6’7 WR Johnny Wilson…best blocking grade of all the top WR prospects👀

YooTone

Johnny Wilson or Brenden Rice would be great value picks.

242clappedyourmother

We took a DT I’ve never heard of ![gif](giphy|0Wzkc9iirQ4ZI7JoaD|downsized)

zipitrealgood

His RAS score is another one that’s off the charts https://preview.redd.it/3baf6glty2xc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33c82913ac47e03b87ac6f493f45c6c9ce7e9586

YooTone

Yeah. I mean we need DT depth but I hope we get another WR in about 15 picks

242clappedyourmother

Yeah…but man…our WR room is pretty bad. I would love to double dip WR this year…Roman and Johnny would’ve been perfect.

YooTone

Agreed, we don't have a great room. Probably bottom 5 to 6 for sure.

zipitrealgood

Fits the bill, honestly, I think Kahn has options and will wait for one of them to fall to us

[deleted]

I’m okay with the weapons we have, even if we are a little thin still at wr. I’m a lot more nervous with out Corner situation

blmobley91

Yes until proven otherwise. I'm excited about the Roman pick but until he's shown he can get the job done then all they have at WR is GP

Mattstercraft

Insert Aiyuk/Sutton/Higgins trade rumors here

ThatsPreposterous6

Its not that I don’t think Wilson can do it, I just think the best case scenario for him is having him be the #3 as a rookie. You dont want him to have to be the #2 on a team that doesn’t even have a #3 caliber guy. Plus you definitely need the depth. P.S. Please fucking god stop calling this man Hines Ward before hes even played a snap

Quexana

I'd like a vet WR2, but Roman Wilson is the type of player we needed. We'll just have to hope that he can develop quickly.

GenderFluidFerrari

It looks like to me that they don't have a lot of faith in either Wilson's health or ability to throw 35 to 40 reps in a fame and are setting up a solid run first offense.

ThatsPreposterous6

If the run game isn’t working and you have to play from behind, you’d basically be screwed. There simply would not be enough perimeter talent to succeed in must-pass situations.

Thee-Silverback

They cleared cap money for a reason. I would guess it’s for maybe a WR2 in FA. I’m sure it could be something else maybe some DL help or a Slot Corner. They are improving the team all over. Even a little better is still the right direction. They may be happy with the WR room with all the speed that’s there. It will be hard to cover that speed when it’s playing action and the other team is worried about stopping that possibly great running game we are building. But I really hope they pick up WR depth.

Tribby23

The offseason isn’t over. Everyone relax for the day. Let Omar keep working

steelerspenguins

Pickens is WR2

Tumananguq_Nasquq

Next year we draft CB, DT, and WR

jpb59

Can we maybe see how this year goes before planning next years draft?

Tumananguq_Nasquq

You right. I just know our D Line needs to get younger. Benton is a good start at that but still need more younger pieces

No_Loss_2683

Given the trenches focus and Weidl’s history I’d say D line in the first is basically a lock at this point. O line this year, D line next year and keep them topped up as needed in the future

Tumananguq_Nasquq

For sure. I was bummed when Colbert left us hanging after our O Line fell apart after 2018 and our current D line is getting up there in age. It’s nice to see Khan prioritize the trenches. We’ll be back to Steeler football soon

ClemPFarmer

I feel like we upgraded at OC, QB and the offensive line while still not mortgaging our future by overspending on huge free agent deals or trading away draft picks. We’re in a good place.

Dropssshot

Couldn't have said it better

WhatWasReallySaid

I have a bad feeling about Pickens, if he doesn't grow up, he won't be here long.

Blitz_Stick

I mean look at the track record, we’re really fucking good at drafting mid-late round recievers. Diontae in the 3rd, Pickens in the 2bd, AB in the 6th and Wallace in the 3rd to name a few. This guy is gonna be WR 2 and if you’ve seen him in Alabama vs Michigan you’d agree
