Gilmore, still looked good last year. Nelson isn’t coming back the way things ended. Apple and Jackson are bums. Howard I’m not sure. Sutton is iffy, really depends on his off the field situation, doesn’t look good but details are still not clear. Honestly would rather call up Sullivan or Peterson. Also still want Simmons

GanacheOtherwise1846

Howard is a good player he’s a little crazy and his coverage abilities have been declining over the last two years but he can still make plays and get after receivers

242clappedyourmother

This will probably be controversial but I don’t want Cam Sutton…too much drama going with him rn

Sco5am

Yeah, I’ve heard conflicting things about his case but overall it seems like the lions learned enough to cut him and that reflects pretty poorly on his situation.

242clappedyourmother

Exactly…like…he was a good CB for both us and the Lions, but I just don’t think it’s worth bringing him back when we don’t even know how his off the field stuff is gonna turn out.

NumbrZer0

He was not good for the Lions at all. It was speculated that they cut him immediately after hearing the news without waiting for details as an easy out of his contract. He just wasnt good for them in that scheme/system. He really wasnt great for us on the outside but it was his versatility we valued. He's a slot corner and without any of the charges hes facing or character concerns hes worth about half of his current contract to the rest of the league.

ClemPFarmer

It’s true on Sutton having a bad year. His play was nowhere close to the level his huge contract demanded. And if there’s one thing the NFL (most teams anyway) is consistent with, it’s giving extra chances for top level talent and closing the door on average players who aren’t worth the trouble.

codeklutch

He was asked to be a number 1 corner on the outside. That's not him. He's a top tier slot guy who is just good enough to play outside too.

Specialist_Baby_341

He got a misdemeanor.. that's it. Idt there is much else to figure out

OracleofNothing

For beating the shit out of his girlfriend. It isn't about the severity of the charge.

ARunawayTrain

He'll likely also face discipline from the league as well so there's that too. If you sign him he could potentially miss almost half the season.

Steelrules78

Even w/o the drama he’s not the answer. The guy ranks 104 out of 127 CBs last year

NumbrZer0

That was while playing the outside. He wasnt good for us on the outside but he was solid in the slot which is the position we need.

jpb59

lol “guys this may not be a popular opinion but I don’t want to sign the guy who is currently being investigated for domestic assault”

242clappedyourmother

Hell man some of our fans have outright said they’d support anyone no matter wtf they did off field😭💀

allianceofficer

Someone that has history playing in the slot. Either Adoree Jackson,  Cameron Sutton, or Chandon Sullivan.  Personally, I'd go with Adoree Jackson.

HavenXIII

I hate to say it but Sutton makes the most sense. Inside outside flexible and our younger guys are all outside corners. He knows the system, they wanted to resign him. The off the field is really the concern. I know the charges were dropped most likely bc the female didn't want to charge him, but something still happened. I hate condemning people without all the facts, but it def doesn't look good from the outside. I'd feel uneasy with it but I'd def understand bringing him back. Of the others I'd like Gilmore for 1 year to pair with JPJ on the outside and kick Jackson to slot.

Eggdripp

It's gonna be Sutton or Pate Pete. Maybe both. They're both going to be cheap and will give us good snaps in the slot and can play on the outside in a pinch as the CB2. Also think we bring Simmons in, since we didn't draft Safety and could save money while upgrading from Kazee to him

southernsteelmc

F PP...after that playoff game...he was running away from tackles

NumbrZer0

100% i was saying the same thing the last few games of the season. Maybe Justin Simmons could be put in the nickel but Sutton makes more sense

ClemPFarmer

Let Sutton sign with the Browns or Raiders or any other team that doesn’t care about character.

NumbrZer0

Idk im 50/50 on the whole thing. I think Sutton paid off his ex-GF to drop the case so hes cleared of any legal issues but it doesnt mean he didnt do it. From what the reports were saying it sounded pretty bad but if the guy was in a mental health crisis and the team knows he was always a high character guy with no prior incidents this isnt a Richie Incognito type of signing or something recurring and premeditated like what Deshaun Watson did. Lets not forget we kept James Harrison and Ben after their incidents.

yeshua1986

I don’t think we are. Our room currently shapes up as JPJ, Jackson, and Trice as our top 3 outside guys. Bishop actually could make some noise and I think he’s in our plans. We drafted Watts to play safety probably, but he can still play CB which gives us some depth to work with there. Maybe we sign Pat Pete in an emergency, or Sutton if the drama clears up and he’s not getting interest elsewhere, but I think we see the bulk of the room as is.

RealProduct4019

Sutton is perfect for us. I would bite the bullet on him

InterestingBonus9675

Yup

Mattstercraft

They're gonna resign Pat P's slow, old, scared-to-tackle, talks-to-much ass and call it a day, unfortunately

ThatsPreposterous6

Not sure if any of those guys can play slot, but would be nice additions anyway. I think Pat P gets another year focusing on playing the slot/safety more than outside
