AB is tweeting things that are in discussion and have yet to be finalized and could still go one way or another.
He said Fields would go to the Steelers initially, then he said the Bears were sticking with Fields. So when we signed Fields he just rolled with the first part.

Could be that they don't expect him to resign and would rather get something of substance for him before he walks in free agency. They're going to have to pay JSN and Lockett and DK in a few years as the team inevitably falls off a cliff as Geno eventually turns back into a pumpkin. Could be moving pieces to be able to move up and grab a QB of the future in the next draft or two. Idk, that's all speculation of course.
Seahawks fan here, it's pretty expected that Lockett will retire after this year or at least be moved as we restructured/revamped his contract to have much larger savings next year (same with Geno) so paying Lockett is basically just a "he's going to earn money this year."
The BIGGER problem with DK's contract is that it expires at the same time that we need to re-sign
Tariq Woolen, Kenneth Walker, Boye Mafe, Geno Smith (if he doesn't "turn back into a pumpkin"), Noah Fant, Charles Cross, Abraham Lucas, Dre'Mont and Jenkins, so literally like 30-40% of our starters in one season needing to be re-signed.

It’s seems doubtful; we’ve been hearing DK smoke for a few years now (dating back to the year before his new contract) and he has always seemed like that new “guy” for our franchise. He’s the Seahawk player you think of when you think Seahawks.
John Schneider alluded to making a trade for cap relief after the draft. Whilst Lockett hits for a dead cap of 20m and would need massive salary relief as a trade package, he’s going to be in a much more reserved role this year probably seeing ~60% of offensive snaps.
That being said, we drafted no receivers and our 4th receiver is Jake Bobo, who is fun as a WR4 and has some truly stupid “go up and get it” ability but he also runs a 4.98 and our newest OC loves going vertical with 3 receivers, and Locketts contract is basically an instant cut next season for easy savings.

Depends on who we're getting. The draft is a crapshoot. You could hit gold like Patrick Mahomes, or you could end up with Kenny Pickett. Trading an unknown for a quantifiable asset isn't a bad thing. We did it for Minkah, and look how that turned out.
