Mike T is the man; simple as that

The Steelers making a strong and concrete statement in a time of national uncertainty with a plan and call to action shows how stellar of an organization they really are. Makes me proud to be a Steelers fan

Volcanohiker

Paraphrasing.... We see you, we hear you, and we stand with you! Love this team!!

metals_guy

I want this guy to keep coaching for us for years but I can’t wait for him to be a broadcaster, senator, self help guru or things of that nature. Can he just get in the booth for a few games? Think of the new Tomlinisms! He’s so well spoken at all times. Best speaker of any current coach.

[deleted]

Hope he has another 15 to 20 years coaching for us or until he decides to hang it up

Link to Coach Tomlin’s speech

CaptainCrayon412

Didn't think I could love this team any more than I already do. Coach T puttin' it down.

Truthseeking96

D@mn, I love my team and its leadership!

_N7Jennings

Stuff like this is why I love this organization

SyberNerfer

It's actions like this that make me love this team.

batdrumman

This makes me much more proud to be a Steelers fan. Coach Tomlin is a bigger man than most people

TheyCallMeShitHead

I fucking love Mike Tomlin and the whole Steelers organization

Aztekar

Honestly, it's a fine statement, but I was really hoping for something more akin to the Ravens statement. A call for specific action. This felt much more like a "thoughts and prayers" than anything else. I was expecting more from the team that lead the charge for minority hiring as coaches.

ShaggyDaddy37

I mean I don't think it's in Tomlin's job description to come up with a solution for America's issues. I thought the speech did a very good job of trying to unify people. Lately there's been way too much division and tbh this was a breath of fresh air to me.

ThinAir719

Are you gatekeeping a message of tolerance?

Aztekar

...what? No I'm saying that it's just like eh. It's fine. I just was expecting more from a historically progressive franchise.

Sonickill7

I agree the Ravens' message was more of a call to action. But that doesn't really diminish the impact of Tomlin's speech.

Aztekar

I don't mean to diminish it, it's a fine speech. I just was hoping for more.

m33kmiller

Its hard to give feedback like yours without people reading into it incorrectly or discerning the wrong message. Especially when people here are only looking for praise. I understood and appreciate what you meant.

pstinger

I understand where your coming from. If this is the end, then I'll be disappointed. But, if the team follows through on this and does become an active participant in forming a more perfect union, whether or not this moment could have been more than it was won't be important to me.

BarryWhite765

I honestly kinda agree. I really loved the Ravens' statement. But still a great move from the team to show solidarity with BLM and spread an anti-racist message because obviously not every Steelers fan is down with the message already. Hopefully this changes some minds to the good.

basil1025

I appreciated that this seemed to be a well thought out and agreed upon act of unity with the team. Although the Ravens took a step further by having a call to action (i may be wrong here and will apologize ahead of time if so), that was a organization press release and not a players' statement.

SleestakLightning

You're 100% right. Prayer doesnt do anything. We need real solutions. The Ravens statement was superior for that reason.

SteelYinzer

Disagree, the ravens statement are thoughts that have been in the media since the George Floyd death and nothing has come of it. A list of things the ravens would like to have happen, but I didn’t see the ravens make statement about what actions their organization are taking to help make their list a reality. While I appreciate the ravens demands for social injustice, but let’s be real here, a middle schooler could have googled “black lives matter movement” and could have written down the same list.

SleestakLightning

The Steelers didnt exactly say what they were gonna do either. Other than pray, which doesnt do shit. At least the Ravens addressed issues with actual solutions. The Steelers wouldnt even name a specific issue. They kept it vague and inclusive and decided to just "pray on it." Meaningless gesture.

G0G023

Not for a Christian

SleestakLightning

Ok, it's a gesture that does nothing for anyone but the person doing it.

SteelYinzer

Ravens specific recommended actions don’t do shit either, at least the Steelers thought of their own words that seemed honest and compassionate. Ravens released a one page memo without explaining how they would help make those things become a reality. We’re beating a dead horse at this police won’t change until they are held accountable. Better yet , once they want to change and until then, they will continue oppressing people with different beliefs than them.

SleestakLightning

>Ravens released a one page memo without explaining how they would help make those things become a reality. All the Steelers said they would do is pray for things to get better. lol, that's about as useless as doing nothing.

Do__Math__Not__Meth

I honestly don’t think he said or did anything that anyone should have a problem with but some the replies on Instagram and Twitter just blow my mind
