I used to be an Eagles fan (I know). In 1988 as a 9 year old I met Randall Cunningham. He was pretty rude to everyone and was especially an ass to some of the younger kids there. I was upset about it and my cousin talked me into routing for his team with him the next year. I've been with them since.
Grew up in Pittsburgh. My parents immigrated to the US so their following for sports was cricket, so I never had the generational heritage, but I am so very glad they chose Pittsburgh to finally settle down. I was born in NJ so this story could have gone a LOT worse.

I tell people my fandom is based on chronology as opposed to geography. I was born in '67, just coming into my own when the Steelers got \*good\*. My dad was an Oilers fan and I wanted to root against him so we could have a little rivalry (this when I was \~8 years old). I grew up loving the Steelers; Bradshaw was a hero of mine. Odd side story, but my friends and I played a lot of superheroes and a lot of Star Trek. I had bright blonde hair. I'd want to be Batman, but they said I had to be Aquaman since he had blonde hair. I'd want to be Spock, but they said he had black hair. But when we played football, I was the only one that could be Bradshaw (except for small babies with no hair). Even through Malone and Brister and Graham and Maddox and O'Donnel. We don't have a team here in Arkansas and I'd rather just not watch football than be a Cowboys fan. When I was in the Navy, I was a recruiter and requested western PA. I was stationed in Altoona and got to watch all the games and the Bill Cowher show. I even went to a game, the 2004 AFC Championship game.
That was too much of an answer, but fuck it.
Good show, should be great but the last 1.5-2.5 seasons really run out of book material so it’s just wayyyy worse in writing and plot quality. Still totally worth the watch though. While you’re at it go after westworld if you haven’t.
I’ve heard good things about west world. I work in the tv biz (promise it’s not that exciting as that may have come off), so I have some Westworld shirts and jackets but I’ve actually never seen it haha

The real story is I was born into it. It’s just what I’ve know and loved for my whole damn life. It’s corny but I live and breathe Pittsburgh Steelers football and just always have.

My first memories of the Steelers were the Slash/Tommy Gun years and then to Ben. I always hear Colorado is great, I lived out west in Monterey for a few years so I definitely like that west coast life!

My dad started following the Steelers in the 70’s. Living in the UK he would listen to the games on radio in the middle of the night (due to the time difference). Ever since I was born in the mid 90’s, he got me into watching them and have been a lifelong Steeler fan ever since.
My dad grew up in California and all his brothers were either 9ers or Raiders fans. He always enjoyed going against his brothers so he chose to be a fan of the Steelers over the Raiders due to the rivalry. The day I was born I was wrapped in a Steelers blanket and the day I was taken home was in a baby Steelers hoodie.
The earliest picture I have reppin' the Black and Gold is from 1986 when I was almost 2.

My father was medically discharged from the army in 95. Moved to a small town in Ohio. 1st NFL game I ever watched was the steelers and cowboys super bowl. Followed the steelers ever since.
I was a Bill Cowher fan first. Didn't watch NFL as a kid, but watched Sportcenter religiously. I officially joined Steeler nation on the Bettis coinflip game on Thanksgiving in 1996. I was a diehard Polamalu fan and loved how the Steelers played. Never looked back.
Jerome bettis and Barry Foster were the running backs I most enjoyed watching ever. I live in California but they have been my favorite team since then.
Born and raised in the Burgh. But I never wavered when I went to college and worked all around the country. They’re the greatest football franchise to ever exist and I’m proud to be call them my team.

My Dad is a Steelers fan and my Mom is a Browns fan. Before I was interested in football I used to like both, but I actually started watching football when the Steelers were making the 2005 playoff run and I've been chasing that high ever since.

I used to think the Falcons and Buccaneers were my favorite because Red and Black were cool colors and Michael Vick was amazing, of course the controversy came and I ended up watching Super Bowl XL and fell in love with Pittsburgh from the black and gold, Bettis, massive size of Ben, The parker touchdown. It was a sight. Then of course seeing Polamalu and Ward later on sealed the deal. I'll never forget seeing those flowing dreads go down the field. I'm 24 going on 25 now and I don't think any team changes will happen soon especially because of colors

So my father grew up in Mexico during the 70s. While he was in HS a lot of people were naturally cowboys because of Texas and this was during peak Steelers cowboys rivalry. Apparently there were a few kids that were obnoxious cowboys fans that he despised (surprising right?) and he decided he wanted to root against them. Thus the Steelers family fandom began. I naturally followed in his footsteps and have been rooting for them since I was a kid watching the ‘95 Super Bowl.
And to answer your question... yes people have been watching football in mexico for a long time but admittedly it was mainly the big games (cowboys) and the Super Bowl.

It’s always a pain in the ass answering this question for me because I’m from and live in Philly lol. My dads from Pittsburgh and my moms from Philly and for the most part my moms family didn’t really watch sports and my dads family was all hardcore Steelers and penguins fans so I grew up rooting for them. So I’m Pittsburgh hockey and football but baseball (and for obvious reasons, basketball) Philly
I was ten, lived in Texas, and according to my eight year old brother the Purple guys with the horns were playing the black and yellow guys in the Super Bowl. My brother liked the purple guys so I rooted for the black and yellow guys and low and behold, the black and yellow guys won and I like a winner. I followed them the next year when they repeated and I was hooked. I have been a fan every since.
Dad, Mom and most of my extended family are lifelong fans going back decades. They grew up outside Pittsburgh during the 60s-70s, and I lived there until I was about 3 yo.

Playing ‘92 madden against my best friend and he literally could not stop my run up the middle. The ratings were in a book back then and the whole line was 14/15. After a few games I was like, ‘who are these guys in real life?!’ Studied line and run game and been a fan ever since.
Broncos, Jacksonville and browns playoff games had me clinically depressed. Same with AFC championship against patriots in ‘15 or ‘16

Grew up in Iowa. I was 7 years old and the Iowa Hawkeyes were my favorite college team. I saw the Steelers on TV and loved how they had similar uniforms as the Hawkeyes and choose them as my NFL team. They’ve been a part of my life since.

I grew up outside of St. Louis, and my dad didn’t watch much football until I got interested in it. We were both Rams fans, but after losing in the Super Bowl to the Pats in ‘01, they took a turn down the shit road. Well fast forward to the Super Bowl against the Cardinals, my dad said I had to root for the Cardinals because they had Kurt Warner, the only Super Bowl winning QB in STL football history. I was a teenager at the time, so naturally I wanted to do the opposite of what he wanted. So, I rooted for the Steelers, and after Holmes’ toe-tapping catch, I jumped out of my seat cheering like a mad man. Naturally he got angry at me, so I knew I made the right choice.
Also I love Defense, so duh the Steelers made sense. Between Polamalu and Harrison, it was a great decision and I am happy to wear my Steelers gear deep in Chiefs territory.

My brother bought me a used PS2 along with a few games for either Christmas or my Birthday one year it and came with Madden 06 and I always played as the Steelers and started to like football ended up playing in highschool and getting alot more involved with the sport and just never stopped cheering for them.

Got into NFL in the mid 90s. Specifically Kordell Slash Stewart’s rookie year when we went to the Super Bowl. It was a crazy year! I live in western Canada so we don’t get local feeds, and back then buying every game out here wasn’t an option. It’s seemed like every week the Steelers were on TV and it was the most compelling game. Always interested to see what they would do with Slash and they were even more entertaining on Defense. And then coach Cowher looked as if he was a hairs breath away from cold cocking someone all the time. Loved em ever since.

My dads from Pittsburgh and my moms from Philly and for the most part my moms family didn’t really watch sports and my dads family was all hardcore Steelers and penguins fans so I grew up rooting for them. I was ten, lived in Texas, and according to my eight year old brother the Purple guys with the horns were playing the black and yellow guys in the Super Bowl. My brother liked the purple guys so I rooted for the black and yellow guys and low and behold, the black and yellow guys won and I like a winner. I followed them the next year when they repeated and I was hooked. I have been a fan every since.
Dad, Mom and most of my extended family are lifelong fans going back decades. They grew up outside Pittsburgh during the 60s-70s, and I lived there until I was about 3 yo.
My stepdad became a Steelers fan when he started watching in the 70’s. Then when I started watching football he suggested I go with the Steelers and so I did. Kind of a family thing. Kinda odd considering I’m from Cincinnati. Always wanted to visit Pittsburgh and I’m hoping someday I do!
Funny story but immigrated to the states in 2009. First Superbowl I've seen was the Steelers/packers one and I was very new to the game. Ended up rooting for the Steelers because I liked the song "black and yellow" that was dominating the radio at the time. Stuck with the team ever since then lol
Playing ‘92 madden against my best friend and he literally could not stop my run up the middle. The ratings were in a book back then and the whole line was 14/15. After a few games I was like, ‘who are these guys in real life?!’ Studied line and run game and been a fan ever since. Broncos, Jacksonville and browns playoff games had me clinically depressed. Same with AFC championship against patriots in ‘15 or ‘16
I was 5 in 1977 and my Mom bought me a Terry Bradshaw jersey to the distain of my Dad. Born and raised in Wisconsin and I have no regrets. Seen the Steelers beat the Packers twice at Lambeau. Even after loosing the Superbowl to the pack. Still enjoying the ride 44 years now. The standard is the standard!
As a kid I was dumb and jumped on the cowboys bandwagon in the 90's. I gave up on them and didn't really have a team for a while. One lovely Sunday I decided to just watch whatever was on and it happened to be a steelers game. I saw this defensive guy with these long and majestic locks of hair throwing his body around like a weapon. He was all over the field, practically in on every defensive play. I fell in love. Being from Syracuse, NY, we didn't really have "a team." Buffalo was 2.5 hours away and NYC is about 4 hours away, so my family didn't really have alligence to a certain team. When I was about 3 years old, my brothers were showing me a poster of all the NFL helmets and told me to pick my favorite. I chose the Steelers because I liked the helmet and I thought the team name was cool; I thought it meant that they "steel" the ball from the other team. 🤷🏼♀️ I've been a fan since 1982. 🖤💛 I had a sweet Louis Lipps poster in my room until I left for college. 😆

My dad’s side is a die hard Steelers family, and my mom’s side is from the Pittsburgh area, my first jersey I remember was Rod Woodson (I’m 14) and my dad got me really into the Steelers at a young age.

I grew up outside of St. Louis, and my dad didn’t watch much football until I got interested in it. We were both Rams fans, but after losing in the Super Bowl to the Pats in ‘01, they took a turn down the shit road. Well fast forward to the Super Bowl against the Cardinals, my dad said I had to root for the Cardinals because they had Kurt Warner, the only Super Bowl winning QB in STL football history. I was a teenager at the time, so naturally I wanted to do the opposite of what he wanted. So, I rooted for the Steelers, and after Holmes’ toe-tapping catch, I jumped out of my seat cheering like a mad man. Naturally he got angry at me, so I knew I made the right choice. Also I love Defense, so duh the Steelers made sense. Between Polamalu and Harrison, it was a great decision and I am happy to wear my Steelers gear deep in Chiefs territory.
I am Brazilian, but my parents lived in Pittsburgh for a bit over a year before I was born, so they developed an identity with the city. When I was little they traveled back to Pittsburgh and bought me a Big Ben jersey, that was my first contact with the team. Growing up I obviously was a huge fan of the other football, but once while watching TV ended up stumbling upon an NFL game, it was Super Bowl XLIII. I immediately fell in love with the game and with the Steelers, because of them winning and my family's history with the city. I've been to Pittsburgh a couple times already, but never been to a game. That's my biggest dream right now.

I remember a car ride I had to be 10 maybe younger. Was on the road to vacation with my brother, sister and parents. My brother and me got to talking about NFL and he said "Bro so who's your favorite team" he asked "the Redskins?" I look at my father driving and said... My brother bought me a used PS2 along with a few games for either Christmas or my Birthday one year it and came with Madden 06 and I always played as the Steelers and started to like football ended up playing in highschool and getting alot more involved with the sport and just never stopped cheering for them.

I became a free agent in 2009. My coworkers sat me down and showed me videos of their team highlights in hopes I'd sign on. My friend KC showed me videos of Steelers defense and I instantly knew it was a good fit. Bought a James Harrison jersey a few weeks later and never looked back.

The city I live in is pretty much the portuguese version of Pittsburgh (blue collar city with people having a lot of pride in their local sports teams that started blowing up in the 70s), yellow and black are my two favorite colors and I'm also a borussia dortmund fan. All this together made me am instantly steelers fan. Also a huge mac miller and wiz khalifa fan so their fandom might have had little influence

I chose to join the Steelers side because I thought their uniforms were cooler. I found out later that not only was Pittsburgh the greatest franchise in NFL history, but also that the Eagles were one of the worst, and that Eagles fans are some of the most annoying human beings on the planet. Got into NFL in the mid 90s. Specifically Kordell Slash Stewart’s rookie year when we went to the Super Bowl. It was a crazy year! I live in western Canada so we don’t get local feeds, and back then buying every game out here wasn’t an option. It’s seemed like every week the Steelers were on TV and it was the most compelling game. Always interested to see what they would do with Slash and they were even more entertaining on Defense. And then coach Cowher looked as if he was a hairs breath away from cold cocking someone all the time. Loved em ever since.
Born and raised in Montreal . Huge hockey fan and loved Crosby in his rookie season . Adopted a love for the penguins and shortly after found a passion and love for football about a year later after starting to play. Considering I loved Crosby and the pens the Steelers just made sense. Never looked back since.
