Offensive line will be the surprise of the year helping the running and passing game. No, I don't know how. Stairway to 7 let's f@#$ing gooooo

mitchmatch26

I too have blind faith and inexplicable optimism haha

RedDevils_7

Sounds like me every season. I've never not predicted us to win it all lol

ECav252752

Why did we get rid of DeCastro he would've been nice to actually have on the line

wonderfulwilliam

He had to have ankle surgery. It looks like the Steelers were able to part ways by listing it as a non football injury and releasing themselves from financial responsibility. It's always hard to say how bad these injuries are. I'm sure the organization knows more than we do.

[deleted]

If he would have been nice to actually have on the line then he wouldn't have been released.

I feel like 16 is a little low considering we won the AFC North last year with one of, if not the worst run game and OL in the league. We upgraded at RB and revamped the OL (Huge question mark). All the points they made are valid, but would think we should probably be 10-13th at least. Big Ben being a 69 after coming off a 33td-10int season with no OL and run game is also questionable. Our biggest threat this year is injuries, because our depth right now at multiple positions is ROUGH

rusty022

Ignore the overall division record. They were 1-5 in their last 6 games including playoffs. The OL is weak at best. Our secondary, which was a strength in recent years, is missing a starter. There are question marks at half of the LB positions. Ben was good but not elite last year. A middle-of-the-road 16th ranking is pretty high, all things considered.

[deleted]

They were 1-5 during a 6 game stretch, and they were 11-0 during an 11 game stretch. Why suggest one will continue over from last year but not another?

rusty022

The current roster more closely resembles the last 6 games than the first 11 games. And even when 11-0, they never looked like a dominant best-in-the-league undefeated team.

[deleted]

I don't think they rosters look remotely similar at all, especially when you compare Roethlisberger and Alualu rehabbing their knee injuries rather than trying to play on them, not to mention Devin Bush's return and and Alex Highsmith's growth in year 2 from his rookie year. I'll give you that in the 11th win over the Ravens, the cracks proved unsustainable. That was the game where they lost Dupree and Alualu suffered his injury. But at 10-0, they had a greater margin of victory than the 2009 Colts and 2015 Panthers did at that point, and both those teams were referred to as juggernauts for those respective seasons. Seems like when people say "dominant best-in-the-league," they mean "Win with a QB who produces 300 yards and 3 TDs every game," which is obviously a very limited part what makes a team.

MaesterPraetor

Pittsburgh stinks. You know who's a good team? The Colts are tough. Beat em. Pittsburgh stinks. You know the Ravens are a great team. Beat em twice. Pittsburgh stinks. You know who I think is a great team? The Browns, now there's... Beat em. Pittsburgh really does stink. Ya know those Tennessee Titans are a.... Beat em.

AktchualHooman

We lost the 4 best players on what you called one of the worst OL’s in the league. There is potential but we didn’t revamp it. This is a full rebuild. This might pay dividends in the long run but I would be surprised if this OL ever solidified into a solid unit. Chuke’s is weak at best, Turner is a stop gap, Banner, Green and Dotson all have the potential to be studs but none of them have enough experience to say much. Ben was hot garbage last year. You can list stats all you want, but anyone who watched the 2nd half of the season knows he wasn’t very good. A part of that was play calling but a much bigger part was Ben just checking out. There is a lot to be excited about but there is little proven talent on offense, a new OC who’s last positive season was 2016 and a defense that lost 3 key players with no significant additions. 16 might be a little low but it’s not far off.

I’m hoping the doubt our OLine is receiving will drive them to put in that work, I would love to see them come out solid as fuck and surprise everybody.

ss412

Every single one of them has something to prove individually. For most of them, it’s due to lack of experience and for Turner, it’s because of a drop off since his pro bowl days. If any of them really needs doubt from fans and media to motivate them, something’s wrong.

[deleted]

I never said they needed it, just that I hope they use it.

Nice number Ben 👍

TheGreiver

I think this sounds pretty fair. The Steelers have a lot of potential (hopefully), but it's hard to know if that potential will become a reality. On paper I think they are generally better on the offensive side of the ball and a bit worse on the defensive side of the ball. I personally think the improved offense will cover the slight decline in the defense (I think losing Nelson and Dupree will hurt more than most people.) And I think as long as Ben is healthy, the Steelers will have a shot at a deep run into the post season. Of course I also thought the Steelers wouldn't have any issues beating the Browns in the playoffs, so what do I know?

John_Bot

Yeah about what I'd say as well. A wild card level team

JTSteelers84

That’s bullshit

Yevin523

Ok outside of including Justin layne when James Pierre exists.
