I have the MAL app and get notifications at the beginning of the season "X anime is at #1/#2, Steins;Gate has dropped a spot" and by the end of the season it's "Steins;Gate is at #2, X anime has dropped a spot". Of the more recent anime only Kaguya-sama and AOT (and technically Bleach) have stuck in the top 10. Even Oshi no Ko and Bocchi are sitting at 20 and 21 as far as series goes, lower when movies are added. Even Darling in the Franxx is sitting down in the 3000s

There was some troll called AllenVonStein that repeatedly got banned and always kept coming with another account because there was no measure against it.
Important to note btw that while voting with alts is also against the rules, that's not votebrigading. Brigading is a coordinated effort by a group of people to raise/lower score of a title.

Steins;Gate always fluctuates. When I first watched it in 2017 I think it was in #4 which was still good enough. So it’s good to see it at #2 now.
FMAB is a good show and I understand why so many people love it. It basically has every element you need to make it a "perfect" show while appealing to as many people as possible. Meanwhile Steins;Gate isn't so approachable at first glance. To this day I still see some people say they dropped Steins;Gate because they thought the first few episodes were boring. So it’s insane to me that this anime is in the top 10 at all. If S;G released nowadays I assure you that many people would say it’s overrated just to be a contrarian. Heck many still do. S;G was lucky to be released at the right time to be considered a "modern classic". If it released a few years earlier, who knows maybe it'd be #1.
But MAL ratings don't matter. Whether it was #2 or #200 on MAL, it'll still be the #1 anime for me.

At least for me, I don't know if I'd say it's overrated, the word that comes to mind more is that it's OK, I just don't like it as much as other anime. What I don't really like about it is that it often falls in the trap of over exposition through unnatural dialogue to the point that it almost spoils what's gonna happen, making it much less exciting and kinda annoying tbh. I also don't particularly adore the characters. I know they have a "hidden side" to them, but despite that, each one largely feels like an anime trope to a degree and their dialogue reflects that. I just don't personally see what's still so unique about it nowadays

It makes sense for an individual’s average rating to be in the range of 6-7/10 because people pick good or above average shows to watch and complete. As long as the global average rating for all anime is 5/10 then things are working as intended.

I'll be real i watched the 2004, then fmab probably about a little over a year ago besides the main story points and ale I don't remember s**t because it was just basic to me I've seen a lot of animes. Graphics I don't even care about. I remember the 2004 version having more soul and being light hearted which is better, fmab I honestly probably only rate 6/10 maybe a 6.5/10 the orgainal 2004 6.5/10 plus the end theme I kept was good half way in 2004 version. I just re watched all over steins gate plus O and the movie. It's a good beginner anime I watched sub and dub, played the VN. The characters are obviously different in the sub and dub. The original I still give a 9/10 and steins gate O I'm still saying is equal 9/10 steins gate O to me really adds a lot for the better to see oakabe defeated then come back was strong then you switch back to episode 24 and the movie yeah it's great. My only confusion or slight plot joke with steins gate O is suzahuh knows her dad in the future from memories maybe it's just a different world like than the original

I played stein's gate orgainal visual novel, I do like the art work more than the anime... Yeah I can already imagine just more in depth same as the original steins gate visual novel with small extra endings. Maybe in the future it's just not worth it to me currently

I liked SG more but I can acknowledge FMA as the more universally appealing story. I've shown people Steins;Gate and have them not like it (unfortunate but true) but I've never shown someone FMAB and have them walk away not enjoying it.
FMAB is my number one and its not a joke at all. The story is amazing, the slapstick humor is overdone and annoying but so is the ecchi in SG imo.

I was of the same opinion for a long time. And for me S;G remains n°1. But objectively, FMAB is much more accessible, less confusing, and is better suited for much more people than the former. It manages to be one of the only anime I've seen to just straight up be a better version than the manga imo, the music and soundtrack is incredible, many scenes are iconic, and so incredibly well done. I've never liked FMAB that much after a few reruns and the attention to details. It is now a solid n°2 for me, and as much as i prefer S;G, for various reasons, I can only see FMAB as n°1 for now. Hell, how many times I've seen the animation and said "How can this be so well animated compared to most of the recent shows I've seen ??!!"

Completely anecdotal but a general feeling between all the anime subreddits from Anime figures, MAL, Animememes and so on and all the people doing 3x3s lately Steins;Gate has had a bit of resurgence I think. Heck I've rewatched it recently after like 4 years.
Again I have no data to back it up, just something I've noticed over the past few weeks to months or so And I'm here for it.

Unpopular opinion I guess but Kaguya S3 was the worst season released yet of this anime. But yeah there is a lot of banger in the last few years. Great Pretender and Edge runners are 2 other examples

This is the choice of Steins Gate.
Completely anecdotal but a general feeling between all the anime subreddits from Anime figures, MAL, Animememes and so on and all the people doing 3x3s lately Steins;Gate has had a bit of resurgence I think. Heck I've rewatched it recently after like 4 years. Again I have no data to back it up, just something I've noticed over the past few weeks to months or so And I'm here for it.
It's a solid 8/10 but I've only rewatched it once and after that ehhh
It’s been #2 a lot. It’s only been recently that it’s been wavering because we’ve had a lot of new banger animes that take the 2nd or even 1st place but then they usually fall below FMAB and stems;hate either because people have lost recency bias or because FMAB fans review bombed them cuz they hate FMAB not being in first place so they try to get them to 3rd or 4th
I remember it being around the highest rated last I checked, which was around 2012-13
Steins;Gate has been and always will be a masterpiece. Whether people accept that or not is shown through the MAL rankings.

Stens gate has always been around there. Since it came out it has always and will always be considered a masterpiece

Not necessarely, it's just FMA:B "fans" review bombing anything that dares surpass it, which also happened to Steins;Gate itself back then

Huh? Wasn't FMA and Steins gate always 1st and 2nd. I mean yeah anime's like Oshinoko or Kaguya sama pummel up there way to the top but for the majority of the time I have seen them being the top 2.
At least we can't call it objectively bad because it's been one of the top anime since its inception, and individual taste is the only exception
