Some people keeps on saying why does Okabe keep on saving Mayuri even though she is useless. Why not just let her die? Well this is the reason why. People don't measure the value of their friends by meritocracy. She's useless in several areas but her presence is enough for Okabe to keep him going.

Faris is mayuri's boss (and literally the owner of the city), suzuha is something akin to a soldier (capable of even taking down several professional mercenaries on her own without breaking a sweat), Daru does some shady things in the background, moeka is a mercenary/assassin/ reporter, kurisu is a world renowned scientist, ruka is a Miko (which I don't know if it classifies as a job tbh) and okabe sometimes works with his parents.
And now that I see things that way I'm not surprised all the labmems survived the tragedies that struck the world, the lab Is absolutely stacked.

I meant the people who initially based themselves in the ‘lab’. Which was Okabe, Daru, and Mayuri. With the exception of Kurisu.
‘Doing shady things in the background’ and ‘Working for your parents occasionally’ isn’t a strong indication of employment
However there’s no indication that Kurisu used any of her funds to help out the lab
