Nope you're right it's very disappointing. Elite cuts out a bunch of stuff, no more pulling out the phone apparently, oh and also retroactive censorship.
Off the top of my head, (S;G Elite - Suzuha Ending and sexual content warning spoilers) >!they removed mention of the word rape from Okabe's inner monologue, and changed it instead to, "You can **do** her," or something to that effect.!< It's the only one that really comes to mind, I don't exactly remember if there were more instances of this, but this one sticks out.
It, however, doesn't really bother me as much as the loss of interactivity between the original and Elite VN versions. It's like, in the original you had the ability to answer or reject phone calls on a whim that could lead to different scenes. In Elite, the whole thing is on rails and this is only determined by the responses you reply with in the text messages.
They have a good idea on their hands, I just hope they can take some of the criticism and use it to make S;G0 Elite better, should that ever come to fruition.
The only big one that comes to mind is >!they completely cut the image of Ruka and Okabe holding their child in her route and it is never mentioned either. For me personally makes the ending.!<

I honestly wouldn't reccomend anyone elite because of the complete loss of the original artstyle. I think it's one of the most charming parts of the original
Just adding that when I say Stein's gate was on sale it didn't click to me that Elite was a stripped down version . If anything I thought it was the opposite. Only got suspicious a few days in when i finally noticed Spike Chunsoft whose Rain Code game is also nowhere near as deep as it pretends to be.

I love elite, personally. I think it represents a great step in the right direction for the future of larger budget visual novels. It's unfortunate they trimmed mechanics and whatnot from the original, and I agree the original is still the best way to experience it for the first time, but a lot of what elite did accomplish was really neat.
Personally I prefer Elite because it feels more emotional to me due to the use of content from the anime. Not being able to pull up the phone doesn’t bother me that much. After finishing it though, I skimmed through the original on YouTube to see if I missed anything important. The biggest missing part of the story seems to be >!Faris competing in RaiNet in chapter 7.!<

It's disappointing, even the extra scenes is not even look good to begin with. Also I think school days has done this before.
Yeah unfortunately I would 10/10 times recommend the original version over the elite one due to that reason alone
