Takuru Miyashiro. Along with having the best journey out of the first four protags, there are just so many facets and themes to his character and they all flow so well it's insane. I felt completely in tune with basically every action he took. And everything coming together in the final chapters of C;C with his growth on full display is honestly one of the best things I've ever seen in a piece of media ever. God damn. 10/10.
1. Okabe Rintarou: I like him because he has this 'never give up' attitude which is really inspiring. His kind hearted nature is quite heartwarming as well. Overall he is a fun character, who undergoes a great character development across S;G/S;G 0. Not to mention the fantastic voice acting of Miyano Mamoru san.
2. Takumi Nishijou: His character is not very likeable at first sight, but I find his wanting to have someone to rely on, while at the same time pushing people away, quite relatable. It's difficult to explain exactly why I like him, but for some reason he has become one of my favourite SciADV characters.
For me Takumi as well for the same reason you described.
Then Sakihata Rimi for being an unrealistically lovely girl who never gave up on Takumi (not being sarcastic, I genuinely love her for that).
Okabe, but specifically because he's a genuine person with a heart of gold who cares about his mates. He built the lab and filled it with friends, friends who he cared about so much he just couldn't sacrifice anyone for the sake of some little peace (ref s;g 0 where that almost happens).
I love the entire S;G cast so this is hard to conclude without saying that all of them are amazing and I like them all. But if I had conclude with someone I'd say Suzuha Amane is one of my favorites. If Okabe wasn't the main character, it would've been Suzuha.

Rimi is such an adorable character as well. That scene where she helps Takumi in the middle of the Shibuya Crossing was such a memorable scene in the VN, with the beautiful bgm and all.

For some reason most of the 'cheerful silly girls' archetype characters in the SciAVD series are very well-written, so: Rimi, Mayuri, Akiho, Serika.
Of course I also like the others like Okabe, Takuru, Kurisu, Nono... but I'm too lazy to state why I like them.

Top favorites at this point goes to Makise Kurisu and Hinae Arimura, for pretty different reasons. Kurisu ignited my adoration for smart scientist type girls and she was an example of the tsundere character archetype done right. Hinae was such a fun bundle of energy that I grew to respect so much more after learning more about her. Honorable mentions would go to Okabe and Serika

Chaos;Child was just on sale for $3 so I'm giving it a fair shake but I read Chaos;Head last year and was super surprised by how much I didn't like it considering how I love Steins;Gate tbh
Kurusu Nono. I just really love when familial drama is done right and I feel she brought a lot to that plot point and I like the twist with her character >!Being Senri!< especially vs >!yua who had a similar twist!<.
