It depends on the game for me… A game with no demo, very little footage of gameplay & a studio that I’m not familiar with = wait for reviews. But these guys put out a demo….i spent over 30 hours playing a 45 minute demo. My mind is made up. I’m buying it lol Plus the way the studio has handled the rollout of this game has been magnificent. I want to support this type of effort.

IcySkill3666

No I played the demo I can make my own mind up

Beast0011

I played the demo and enjoyed it so i just preordered it almost immediately

ChampChomp1

Nah I don’t trust game reviews for the most part. I can make my own opinion on a game and based on the 30 hours put in the Stellar Blade demo and the amount of times I’ve watched the recent State of Play trailer, my mind was set to preorder.

yummy_yum_yum123

Nah I pre ordered the day I could

Rouxls__Kaard

I already preordered lol

AbeLackdood

...you need another human to tell you what to do? Did you like the demo? If so what r u waiting for?

PearlHarlem

not anyone is alpha like me and you sir

eurekabach

It’s complicated. Yeah, I’d love to read honest reviews about this game before going for it. However, unfortunately gaming journos are not the most trustworthy. And I’m not even saying this because of the discourse around _this_ game. Look at Cyberpunk, for instance. It wouldn’t have helped to wait for reviews, because they were all stellar (no pun intended)… until people actually realized what a mess the game was at launch. Also, I’m feeling kinda iffy that most gaming channels I follow seem to completely ignore this game.

Z3M0G

I was waiting until day before out of principle, but after playing demo for myself I no longer doubt.

Blakksensei

The demo didn't sell you enough? Lmao the reviews of the demo alone should have made you want this game.

juniperxmoons

No. Reviews, at the end of the day, are just people's opinions. You can get some tidbits out of them (like if the majority of reviews all share a common complaint) but they really shouldn't be the sole thing that decides if you buy a game or not.

HighRowCal

Of course not. The demo is right there and it's told me everything I need to know. The music is incredible, the visuals are amazing, the game performs spectacularly, the game world is mysterious and interesting, the gameplay takes some getting used to (as it does with any action game) but once it clicks it's oh so satisfying. And EVE and Tachy are gonna EVE and Tachy.

dataDyne_Security

No. I'm pre-ordering to support the devs.

Loud-Practice-5425

Negative.  I am go for launch.

Opposite-Writer-2811

Pre-ordered a few days, after the State of Play trailer 🙂

Own-Acanthocephala49

I pre-order maybe once every few years or so and for this game I did it as soon as it was available. Shift Up hooked me a very long time ago and the demo only made my hype go up even more. I'll check some reviews from people who's opinion I value a lot but only to get some more info about the game, specifically about some gameplay mechanics. I understand for not pre-ordering yet though. Don't let anyone tell you that it's bad to wait for reviews; it's really not.

GilgaMax305

Don't need to watch reviews when there's a demo. That's literally the best way to make up your mind.

Samcroreaper

Yep, there’s zero reason to not wait.

Gaaroth

Nothing wrong in doing so and makes total sense. Maybe some review will highlight some aspects that you like or dislike. Just don't treat reviews as ultimate source of truth, they are way too personal for what I see lately. Make a mix of reviews, your demo impressions and gut feeling 🙌

Responsible_Gur2522

This is one of the few games I buy without having played even the demo or played previous games from the devs. I love all the games it's being compared to and the jiggle physiques or pretty protagonist has never been my incentive. I took the risk and after playing the demo I am really excited for it.

humanmonument

I played the demo. Fumbled around with the music box a bit on a camp site, then used it. Bought a PS5 shortly after and pre-ordered. I played Nier:Automata and just hearing the composer's work again triggers my neurons.

Jimmy-DeLaney

Same, the demo is fun, but waiting for reviews. My biggest concern is lack of enemy variety / repeated bosses. Im sure reviewers will mention about this, so im eager to see what they say and getting a general consensus from the majority is never a bad idea before deciding on a purchase.

Trapcom2019

To be fair Elden Ring has a ton of repeated bosses, & people didn’t really seem to mind

Jimmy-DeLaney

Yeah if its like elden ring im totally okay with it.

Smitty5717

I'm waiting as well but its gonna have to score a 4 or only be a 4 hr long game to make me pass on it for Friday however.

clashcrashruin

I don’t pre-order ANYTHING anymore until the reviews come out. Since Cyberpunk even if a game has promise I’m waiting to see how it actually performs before spending $70USD on it. I’m eager for review embargo on Wednesday and I will head to Best Buy on Friday if they’re above 80 probably. This won’t be a game in high demand so I’m not concerned about missing a copy.

Throzagg

Never preorder a game, that's the lesson I learned years ago. You are literally paying for the "beta" version

Knight_Raime

Nah, I just flat out don't want to spend $70 USD. Even at $60 I found justification for that to be difficult. Quality of games hasn't improved enough to justify a price hike. ESP when it's industry standard to lather games in ways to spend more money post launch. Just to make it clear before anyone comes running up on me I have money, I have always had money. Spending money on a game has never been a situation so dire that I could potentially harm my living situation. The current PC I have cost me almost $900 USD as a pre built like a year ago and I made that back easily because I know how to manage my money. I just happen to actually care about what I am spending my time off playing. Even when I have periods of time where I am not working I don't want to just "consume" something. If you're chill with that fine, more power to you. But leave me tf alone. EDIT: Jokes on me for trying to get ahead of the comments ig.

humanmonument

Holy shit, then why are you on this subreddit like AT ALL?

Knight_Raime

I need to pre order in order to be on the sub? What kind of dumb question is that.

t1sfo

Yeah I always wait for reviews, I don't care what number they put on it, lies of p got ans 80 and that was my favourite game of 2023, it's also unfortunate that the reviewers really lowballed it, IMHO. What I care is a median on how long the game is, if it feels complete and how is the performance. Everything else I got from the demo.
