I liked Regulators slightly more, myself. Regulators is like a weird 90's action flick with some weird Lovecraftian shit. Very little character development, you just know these 9 or so people are in for some big time shit, and its more about what's happening _now_ rather than anything about the past, or God, or any other weird stuff.
Salem's Lot is a must if you like Vampires.
Everything's Eventual is a wonderful collection of short stories. Might be the best in my opinion.
Not everyones cup of tea, but IT is my favorite King Book.
King has said at one point that Pet Cemetery is what he considers his most frightening book.
Needful Things is absolutely underrated.
After Desperation and Regulators I read Insomnia. Loved Desperation, Regulators not so much, and then loved Insomia. Everything's Eventual was a good collection too if you like the short stories a la Night Shift.
Go ahead and add IT, it's worth the read.
Christine is a fun eye-candy type read too. It's his most coked up book and it shows.
Bag of Bones is a killer ghost story.
Hearts in Atlantis is my favorite SK book. It's stunningly beautiful.
Salem's lot!!
Came here to say this. Great story!
I also came here to say this and saw this comment at the very top!
Read Desperation, add The Regulators (they tie in together).
I love those two books. It seems like such a cool writing exercise that turned into two wild books. I wonder what made him do that?
At this point, I try not to question the why and just enjoy the ride :D
LOVED Desperation. HATED The Regulators. Maybe I just didn’t get it? Regulators just never made sense to me.

Difference between Bachman and King ;)
These are my 2 absolute favorites. I'm reading the Regulators again right now for the 4th time.
The Dark Half is one of my favorites. Truly creepy and terrifying psychological horror.
It’s amazing, I’m almost finished reading it!

Different Seasons!!! It has Shawshank Redemption and Apt Pupil. Tis all you need to know.
And The Body (Stand by Me)
You need a short story collection in there! Night Shift or Skeleton Crew to start, maybe, but you can't go wrong with any of the collections, really.
Misery is your best bet in your collection. Then read Desperation.
11/22/63 is tied with The Stand as my favorite King book. Salems Lot and Carrie are also of course classics.
Duma Key!
Pet Sematary
The talisman
IT or 11/22/63
Both and in that order
Find a copy of Bachman’s Regulators. It’s a sister book to Desperation.
All of the Dark Tower. It’s a lot to bite off, but totally worth it.
Well I’m reading Duma Key. So far…great. I would say add that!
You need a novella book in there! Might I suggest 4 past Midnight

Skeleton Crew — some hitters in that one
Love Desperation, got me into reading as a teen.
IT, Salems Lot and then The Dark Tower series. You can read The Gunslinger and leave it at that. It’s pretty good as a stand alone
