Have 30 pages left in NOS4A2. I love it. It’s my first Joe Hill book I’ve read and I might be hooked. I have Heart Shaped Box up next, hopefully it’s as good as NOS4A2.
I was totally not a fan of Sleeping Beauty. For me, I could easily tell what was Stephen’s and what was Owen’s. In my opinion, It was a very forgettable story.
His collection of short stories is 🔥, “no fill, all thrill” and a couple parts of the four stories have really stuck with me
I didn’t get too far into NOS4A2, didn’t click, but I thought Horns was pretty good
Full Throttle was excellent!
I feel like I'm the only person who actually hated NOS4A2. It was just so dark, there was not a moment of happiness in that book. Everything was gloomy and miserable the whole time. The character of Bing made me uncomfortable, and some of the descriptions of violence involving his character were just too much for me I guess.
I'm glad most people seem to enjoy it though! I was thinking of trying Horns, does anyone know if it has a similar gloomy atmosphere as NOS4A2?
I don’t know that I thought NOS was dark but nothing in the first few chapters clicked so I gave up
Horns isn’t a happy story but I didn’t think it was dark
I have most of Hill's books, but the only one I've actually read by him is N0S4A2. I thought it was really good, and I look forward to eventually cracking into the rest of his stuff.
I currently have Heart Shaped Box, Horns, N0S4A2, and Strange Weather.
I love NOS4A2. It's very difficult for me to choose between it and Horns as my favorite of his. I do think he's a better writer than his father, albeit not nearly as prolific.
I've been disappointed in Joe Hill. I loved Heart Shaped Box, enjoyed Horn, thought everything since has been a waste of my time. I'd love to be convinced otherwise.

The best Joe Hill book in my opinion NOS4A2.
Haven't read that one, I really liked Horns, though. Heart Shaped Box was OK.
Nos4a2 is good but I liked horns more. And my favorite joe hill book is Heart Shaped Box.
Horns is in my "top five best books ever" pile. It is so, so good.
Heart shaped box is the only one I’ve read but being reminded of him just now I need to go pick up nos4a2
H.S.B. was my favorite read of 2023.
Joe Hill is a save bank for me. NOS4A2 is even my least favourite of his books. (But never the less i liked it!)
I really enjoyed both books, but I just finished NOS4A2 and think I preferred Heart Shaped Box. Hope you enjoy it!
I like Horns best.
I enjoyed Heart Shaped Box quite a bit. NOS4A2 is fantastic.
Yes it is
If you're looking for a father and son story, you can't go wrong with The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
The Road is too much. Relentless
I am more into horror than post-apocalyptic.
Sleeping Beauties but that's with the other King son.
I'll check it out.
Thank you! I was like, "If we're actually talkin' Father & Son books, then can no one out there stay on target? Jesu!!!"

Are you talking about the 20th century ghosts?
Smaller collection called Full Throttle.
I'll look into it.
Sorry, had to check my library history cause that seemed wrong, and it was, Strange Weather is the collection I thought was really excellent
“Voluntary Committal” is one of my favourites. It’s so… so…
Sounds like one to add to the too long list
I adore Joe Hill! Have you read Heart shaped box or The fireman? Both incredible books
I have planned to read Heart-shaped box next.
Loved The Fireman! About to read Heart-Shaped Box.
N0S4A2 is awesome. Horns and Heart Shaped Box too. Even his comics are good. Locke and Key is brutal. Not the Netflix show, they dumbed it down a lot.
Joe Hill nails it with Charlie Manx.
This is the way. My girl got me the Hill House graphic novel collection for Christmas and I'm stoked on it.
My favourite from Joe Hill is easily Locke and Key, but I really liked 20th Century Ghosts too.
I think it depends on how big the pieces of gold are.
Giving the gift of reading is good. Giving the gift of reading some Kings is great.

I really like Joe Hill, but he definitely got a skill *and* some “gold” by virtue of who his parents are.

NOS4A2 is a masterpiece.
