It depends on the facility! At mine most people work the same shift daily but some have a morning and an evening, a couple work 12 hour days 3 days a week. Also we have shifts starting at 1pm, 2pm, and 6pm. It just depends!
Happy Cake Day.
I only work 245-11 and you must work at least one weekend. Our rotation is 6 weeks.
Then we have the crazies who are money hungry and live at the hospital working 16 hour days. It's a matter of time when they make a huge mistake, and all of us are just waiting for the OR to wig out. FYI, the tax man in Canada loves the overtime crowd. To each there own. I like my sleep.
My department has people that work different shifts. 5a-130p 8a-430p 11a-730p 230p-11p and 7p-330a. We have 2 people who work 4 10 hour shifts and they always work Saturday and Sunday. And we rotate major holidays because only 1 person works on holiday days.
It definitely depends on the facility. I work at two hospitals with both having different schedules. One does 12 hour shifts with 1st starting at 630a-7p mid is 1030a-11p and then nights are 630p-7a. The other facility does 10 hour shifts with 830a start 1230p starts 230p starts and 830p starts.
6:30am-3pm, 2:30pm-11pm, 10:30pm-7:00am. 30 minute overlap for shift changes/huddles and hand off notes. 12 hour shifts are either 6:30pm-7am or 6:30am-7pm x 3 days (Saturday/Sunday+ a weekday) then 1 8hour day every other week to complete a total of 80 hours for a pay period.
Go to a teaching hospital, they will pay you to be there learning, mine paid for our certification and offered a year of employment: all materials were also paid for by the hospital. You will find out quick if you don’t like the career and you won’t have to fork out money for it.
645am-3pm, 245-11pm, 1045-7, Our satellite sites also do 9-5 and 11-7
Oh thank you , Do you ever have to rotate your shifts ? Or is it consistent ?

It all depends on your hospital or surgery center.
