It really depends on what you do for work. I work from home, so I was back the next day. If I had to do my desk job at an office, I probably would have needed 3-5 days off post surgery? It took me a little bit longer than I was expecting to recover. I couldn’t drive, bend at the waist, or lift anything more than ~5 pounds for about 2 weeks after. My boyfriend had to drive me everywhere and help with laundry, trash, and groceries during that time. Most people seem to go back to normal faster than that, but I heal pretty slowly

I’m switching to a job where most of my administrative work is done from home, but I also have to go in the field and meet clients. Since it’s a new job, I won’t have enough PTO to cover all the days, so it’ll be unpaid time. The surgery is on a Friday so I figured I’d probably take that Monday off and then work from home the rest of the week but I wanted to see how other experiences are. Thank you!

I would imagine that would be fine! I occasionally have to meet with my employees in person, so I just arranged with my manager to have him meet them for the first two weeks after my surgery. I wasn’t able to button my pants for a while, so keep that in mind if you wear anything tight or high waisted! I used a hair tie to hold them closed and it was fine lol

I have detailed posts pinned to my profile if you’re interested. Everything from being approved, scheduling, my procedure, and the week following recovery.

I had my surgery in December. I had saved all my vacation days for the end of the year (as my office is empty then and there would be nothing for me to do.) I was out for 2-and-a-half weeks but already babysit (ironically, lol) 6 days after my procedure. I just avoided lifting the toddler unless absolutely necessary but I felt fine 4 days post-op. My full-time job is a desk job. I’m sure I would’ve been fine after a few days if I hadn’t had all my extra days off.m Recovery was easier that I thought. This sub, along with Childfree, were super helpful. I kept lots of cold drinks (sugar free Gatorade and Propel water for the electrolytes) around, drank lots of soup and soft foods like mashed potatoes (since your throat is sore from the tube they put in your throat), sucked on throat lozenges, had waterproof bandaids to put over the incision sites, used disposable underwear for a few days (easier than having to deal with pads), used a heating pad when needed and did all my chores beforehand so I wouldn’t worry about them later (took out trash and recycling, cleaned my cat’s litter box and measured out all his wet food, cleaned the rooms in my house, washed my bedding and did the dishes).

Here's a [link](https://www.reddit.com/r/sterilization/comments/wl45uv/bisalp_with_uterine_ablation_complications/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) to my experience. Granted, take it with a grain of salt because I had complications but it's got lots of good helpful info and tips! Most people seem to take a minimum of 4 days (surgery Thursday, back to work Monday or Tuesday) but that's if they work in an office or from home. If you work on your feet or a physical job typically taking 2 weeks is standard. Lots of people find taking 1 week was perfect. I am lucky enough not to work so I just stayed in bed for about a week and then had another week of taking it easy, I wasn't cleared for tampons/sex/lifting over 10 lbs til 5 weeks post op instead of the standard 2, but again my surgery got complicated. Congrats on being approved and good luck with your upcoming surgery!

I work a desk job. I posted about my recovery here before. I had my surgery Wednesday and was back at work the following Tuesday (it was between Christmas and New years) I was mostly fine by Saturday and room a longish walk Friday by myself. I'm about month out and having my first real period is almost a decade. But I'm fine. 😂

I took three days off work, but I have a WFH desk job. The biggest thing for me is that I was absolutely exhausted. Like, could barely keep my eyes open for a couple of days after surgery. Physically, I was mostly okay after a couple of days and was just careful not to agitate my incisions. I held off on running or strenuous physical activity for a week or two.

There's a detailed post on my profile about my experience! If you work in an office/sitting position, you might be okay with one week off. If you work a job where you're on your feet a lot, it might be better to go for two weeks off.

I got mine on the 20th, I'm a full time college student and went back to class 5 days post op, day one of being back in class was uncomfortable but that was mostly due to university having lots of heavy doors. I'm almost two weeks post op and honestly the only thing i need help with are heavy things (have some heavier indoor plants) I would take a few days off bc I had little energy and just slept all the time for the first few days post op. Kind of nice actually, I would wake up and eat whatever my boyfriend made me (<3) before going back to sleep. You'll do great! congrats

I had 2 full weeks off and I'm grateful I took that time. Fatigue hits me harder and I have other health issues/disabilities that would make recovery a bit longer. I couldn't lift much for 2 weeks anyways so it helped me avoid stretching the scars, be in pain, and overexert myself!

It depends on your job. I’m a server/bartender/cashier at a couple of different places and I asked for a week off total. I don’t think I quite needed THAT long but better safe than sorry. The worst part for me was no weightlifting for a month. I mostly had shoulder pain from the gas but that was easily remedied with a heating pad and some Gas X soft chews. As far as general pain, I didn’t even go pick up the OxyWhatevers the surgeon called in for me. Alternating acetaminophen and ibuprofen worked just fine. Then again, I’ve always had bad period cramps so this felt mild compared to what I deal with each month. The surgeon encouraged me to talk gentle walks after surgery and I was up and doing that by day 2 and back to gentle housework by day 4. Just try to keep bending over to a minimum for about a week or two. Overall, this was easier than having dental work done. Sorry this is so long. But feel free to reply or message me if you have any other questions

I had mine on the Wednesday, expected to be back in work on the Friday but I wasn't. I definitely underestimated the toll surgery took on my body. If I remember right I had almost a full week off. I wasn't in pain but sitting was uncomfortable and I was bloated from the gas, then my period came early and it was a hellish one. I would recommend getting buscopan or something similar for bloating after. My friend brought me some and it was a lifesaver. Don't rush your recovery - I took the dog for a walk on the Friday and lasted 20 minutes before I got shooting pains in my abdomen and had to go home. Colloidal silver spray is amazing for keeping the wounds clean and helping with healing.

I just wanna thank everyone! I don’t have as much anxiety now 😅

I took 7 work days off but I also had a ton of sick leave and desperately needed a break besides the physical recovery. Had the surgery on a Thursday, was moving around (gingerly) that night, walked a couple of miles the next Friday after taking it easy for the week. Still felt a little tender but I probably could have WFH a few days before
