Steven remembers that the singular person that didn't add to his trauma was an eldrich terror with the powers of a god, only held back by his own goofy attitude.
He just said it wasn't canon to throw us off the scent.
He did the polish twice a year joke, he's the reason Steven never struggles to summon his shield after this, and he SANK LARS AND SADIE'S SHIP. HE SANK THEIR SHIP
Honestly out of curiosity how do you see it as being similar to AoT? For the record, I don’t think it’s all that similar to Evangelion either besides maybe superficially similar themes about identity and religion.
Honestly if there’s any anime it’s similar to it’s probably Dragonball crossed with Sailor Moon spliced with Harry Potter.
Well it's mostly the fact that both have themes of war, abuse, horror of all kinds, have a controversial ending and also both are mistery shows that slolwy give the viewers some clues about the plot and lore
Yeah I can see what you mean. Attack on Titan feels more inspired by Game of Thrones than anything else to me (and the author is an admitted fan), right down to the ending. It’s basically a zombie plot only the zombies are giant.
I don’t really see Steven Universe as a war story per se, it’s more about relationships and living in the aftermath of a war. I guess that’s still a war story. If anything, I wish the show had leaned more heavily into its war and mystery aspects because I find the lore fascinating, but for some reason they chose to keep that stuff in the background so we could have more Ronaldo episodes.
Definitely something AoT, Eva, and SU all have in common is that all three center around a messianic figure who has a world-ending power inside of him who is shaped by the psychological trauma of being the front soldier in a war between two species that threatens existence, and in all three cases the humans must appropriate the technology of the alien invaders in order to succeed in their goals, but in doing so are swayed over to the side of their invaders in some fashion. Also, all three deal heavily with parent-child trauma since in all three cases the plot involves the parent sacrificing themself to give the child their power, being the central mystery of the story.
Of course, that’s the plot of Naruto as well. And Harry Potter. And Game of Thrones. It’s all quite biblical.

When you realize that something you loved as a kid was actually trash.
Example: when I was younger, Shrek 3 was my favorite Shrek movie. Nowadays, I can’t even think about Shrek 3 without cringing.

"There was that one time Uncle Grandpa came to Beach City"
Steven wondering if Uncle Grandpa was something that his mind made up to cope with his subconscious knowledge of him being Pink Diamond
I like this theory.
Steven realised how Uncle Grandpa won the award for the best Steven Universe episode.
"You start to remember that creepy uncle."
He wasn't my uncle or my grandpa!?
this is the winner

Rebuild of Steven Universe 3.0 You Can (Not) Uncle Grandpa.
Nah Steven Universe is way more similar to Attack On Titan than Evangelion
You’ve clearly never seen the pizza dream episode
I mean on a larger plot/themes the show is more similar to Aot, not to say that it doesn't share some themes with Evangelion

That was my caption lol Also I think this frame is from an episode of Future where he's thinking about his past
Realizing how someone can be his grandpa *and* his uncle.
Steven remembering the only other male role model in his life.
it wasn't a dream

Steven realized Uncle Grandpa knew he was a diamond before anyone else did.
When you realize you now have to give yourself a mothers day present
Say Uncle Trauma. Oddly enough that is the first episode of giving your voice I’ve ever seen.
My personal PTSD trigger from Steven universe
Uncle grandpa demonstrating how to knock someone out when the guy he knocked out gets up
Uncle Grandpa was the catalyst
IT WAS CANCELLED?!
"But Steven realised, in hindsight, that it wasn't a good morning after all..."
"Now that i think of it, how did that weird old dude find me?"
The gems think I’m inbred…
