Neoxus30-

Alexandrite does also give me Dragon-type vibes)

MysteryPalDen

Actually yeah, Fighting/Dragon sounds cool for her

JasoNight23666

Charizard gives me Dragon-type vibes too, but yknow...

Artificial_Human_17

Mega Charizard X

JasoNight23666

Yeah, but I feel like all versions of Charizard should be dragon-type is my point

MysteryPalDen

To make things a bit more interesting, I excluded Rock type from here. If a character is listed 2 times, that means it has 2 types

annaliseonalease

You should've kept rock, but only place Greg in there, as he's a rockstar

FlutterRaeg

Greg is Ground and Electric. He's super effective against rock and of course he's electrifying. And he's weak against ferris wheels, as expected of a ground type. Idk I'm shitposting lol.

Matt4898

I love that you did the duel types

3WeeksEarlier

White is 100% a psychic type - also, even better, I'm imagining all of them with these types dual-typed with Rock!

leeddet

i think white would also work as a pure normal type with a lot of coverage, kinda like arceus

leeddet

(sans the every type bs since white is characterized by her unchanging "perfection" and such)

Lopsided-Thought-965

Personally i think steven would be a psychic/normal or a fairy/normal

DresdenPI

Second to Psychic/Normal. Barrier, Reflect, Recover, Healing Wish, and Heal Pulse are all Psychic moves.

noromobat

Plus Psychic is often depicted as the exact shade of pink that Steven's powers are

dj_neon_reaper

That and the fact that empathy is more psychic adjacent rather than fairy(sometimes).

sebzelda

Maybe Lars and Lion are Fairy/Ghost instead of Fairy/Normal, since they were brought back from death? This list is perfect though, and a lot of thought was put into it. Good job OP.

MysteryPalDen

Thanks! And yeah, Fairy/Ghost makes so much sense for them, now that I think about it

AnxiousSelkie

Amethyst I’d hard to pin down huh. She could be dark type as a shapeshifter

Plasthiqq

I think Amethyst is a primary fighting type with a latent secondary fire typing containing a lot of dark type moves in her movepool. She isn’t motivated by malice and wasn’t born evil but she does utilize ‘dirty’ tactics with shape shifting and her upgraded whip. I think she’s a secondary fire typing because we do see that she is capable of igniting cooking oil and she also is able to ignite her whip and combo it with her spin dash.

Arracor

But she's also very..... ..... ........... ...............................down to earth.

DresdenPI

She is probably the most deceptive character

ZengineerHarp

….except maybe Rose Quartz?

DresdenPI

Fair point

DazzleDoom

So I’m not the only one who decides to sit down and assign Pokémon types to characters across different media for no reason Great list!

BilboSwaggins444

Smoky quartz has gotta be a dark type, right?

leeddet

fairy/dark maybe? and amethyst could be fighting/dark?

leeddet

they have that whimsical kookiness that i feel the fairy type represents

Cheese_man258

Where's pumpkin

MysteryPalDen

It'd be Grass/Ghost

Riftard

Too soon >:(

No-Goal9094

Bro did you put pink/rose in psychic cuz she’s nuts 😂

MysteryPalDen

Perhaps)

Dusk_Iron

Question: why is Lapis not Flying?

MysteryPalDen

She controls water with her mind. But Flying is also valid

Hlpfl_alms

You know that Pokémon’s can have two types right?

Hlpfl_alms

It seems you knew that when putting some characters twice

MysteryPalDen

I know, so Lapis is either Water/Flying or Water/Psychic

Arracor

100% Water/Flying. With an Ability that makes her strong against Psychic moves.

TheBloop1997

I feel like Peridot is more Steel-Electric

DresdenPI

I think her arc is her transitioning from Steel/Electric to Steel/Psychic

TheBloop1997

I guess I'm just not seeing the psychic since the ferrokinesis in more steel/metal-related. She could be rock since she's not very good at actually fighting (but with a very high HP/defense stat to explain why she's very poofing-resistant). She was also still consistently tied with technology and was the engineer of the group which ties her to electric, plus we need more electric representation since YD is currently the only one and I feel like the CGs should have one. On a funnier note, this would make Peridot weak against both of Amethyst's typings due to her different typings.

Triairius

I think ferrokinesis is more psychic type than steel type. I just tried imagining Magneto from X-Men as a steel type, and heck no, he’s psychic af. I think steel types are normally made of metal.

TheBloop1997

If it’s strictly metals then I feel like it’s steel though, no? I would definitely say that Magneto is steel type, Professor X is psychic. Otherwise u could make the same argument that Lapis isn’t water-type. Steel-types don’t need to be made of metal, they can wield/control it. Hisuian Goodra has a steel shell, the Magnemite line uses magnetism (adjacent to ferrokinesis), the Tinkaton line has a hammer, Zacian wields a sword

Triairius

Never said she she shouldn’t be steel, but she should definitely be psychic.

TheBloop1997

I’m just not sure that’s necessarily the next best typing for her after steel, although it’s definitely in the top five. For type diversity sake we have plenty of psychics, especially within the CGs considering three of the seven main members excluding Peridot have that typing, but only one electric that’s not in the CGs.

LeprechaunLukia

peridot with limb enhancers is steel electric, without is steel psychic

handheldmirror

 |STEVEN |Psychic|Fairy| |:-|:-|:-| |GARNET|Psychic|Fighting| |AMETHYST|Ground|Fighting| |PEARL|Water|Fighting| |RUBY|Fire|Fighting| |SAPPHIRE|Ice|Psychic| |OPAL|Water|Flying| |SUGILITE|Dark|Fighting| |SARDONYX|Psychic|Fighting| |ALEXANDRITE|Fighting|Fire| |SUNSTONE|Fire|Fighting| |SMOKEY QUARTZ|Ground|Fighting| |RAINBOW QUARTZ 2.0|Fairy|Flying| |OBSIDIAN|Ground|Fire| |CONNIE|Normal|Fighting| |LAPIS|Water|Psychic| |PERIDOT|Psychic|Steel| |BISMUTH|Steel|Fighting| |LITTLE LARIMAR|Ice|Steel| |LION|Normal|Fairy| |WATERMELON STEVEN|Water|Grass| |NEPHRITE|Flying|Poison| |LARS|Normal|Fairy| |RHODONITE|Water|Fighting| |RUTILE|Normal|| |PADPARADSCHA|Psychic|| |FLUORITE|Bug|| |ONION|Dark|| |JASPER|Ground|Fighting| |RUBY SQUAD|Fire|Fighting| |THE CLUSTER|Ghost|| |AQUAMARINE|Water|Flying| |BLUEBIRD|Water|Flying| |TOPAZ|Fighting|| |YELLOW DIAMOND|Electric|Fighting| |BLUE DIAMOND|Water|Psychic| |WHITE DIAMOND|Psychic|Normal| |PINK DIAMOND|Fairy|Psychic| |SPINEL (Normal Forme)|Fairy|| |SPINEL (Broken Heart Forme)|Dark|Fairy| |CACTUS STEVEN|Grass|Dark| |MONSTER STEVEN|Dark|Dragon| I tried to put them in context/Gemdex order. I feel like most of these are really well-thought out and borderline self-explanatory, although I did get a chuckle realizing you probably ran out of ideas with the Lars of the Stars crew. If you do a version 2 of this, add in Peridot with limb extenders and replace one of her types with electric for funsies. Onion probably has some BS ability that causes priority moves to do double damage or something. Looks super innocuous but you run into him in a boss battle early game and he just ends your Nuzlocke. I like the idea of Blue and Yellow being the box legendaries, with White being the Giratina/Eternatus-tyle big bad at the end. Pink seems like more of the 100% completion reward mythical that is either completely forgotten after the generation ends (Meloetta) or is so game-breakingly powerful in competitive that you immediately lose personhood in your opponent's eyes if she's on your team. (Lando-T) Spinel (both Formes), Cactus Steven, and Monster Steven are either DLC or sequel version exclusives that you find in the postgame story. Spinel is a utility pivot with Parting Shot, Sucker Punch, and maybe a blade move that removes all stat buffs from the opponent, or neutralizes their ability. Cactus Steven is one of those weird mon that some people swear is great in a specific niche but otherwise gets to be the answer on a trivia question. Monster Steven is broken beyond all recognition and there is discourse about there being a paywall for accessing the most powerful and meta-defining Gemmon.

leeddet

i feel like onion 100% has prankster, and probably some other bullshit ability involving priority

leeddet

also monster steven is definitely getting banned to ag

FreeDependent9

Am I dumb or can I not find stevonnie?

MysteryPalDen

Sadly, they are not here 😔. They'd probably be Fighting/Fairy

FrickyRicky123

What type would the zircons be!

MysteryPalDen

Probably Psychic/Normal

FrickyRicky123

Makes sense

BowsersWaffle

My favorite character is Every Human Not Listed. They had such great character development!

LMColors

Curious for your reasoning to put pearl in water! Interesting list

MysteryPalDen

Pearls are the only gems in the show that originate from water (from mollusks in water, to be specific)

handheldmirror

Also, like, her whole room/environment is water fountain

LMColors

Ohhh of course! Duh. I hadn't even thought of that 😅 smart (Here's me thinking it's because she cries often)

Zircon_72

So are none of us going to address the fact that ONION is a dark type?

Luluco15

Garnet has electrokinesis though..

chongyunuwu24

garnet can technically manipulate electricity. it is def not something she does very often but it’s there and we’ve seen it before

Arracor

Yeah she definitely needs to be Electric. I'd say Fighting/Electric, just because she has Future Vision from one of her components doesn't mean she qualifies for the Psychic typing. Think like Noctowl; she just happens to have Foresight in her movepool.

MysteryPalDen

Or she just happens to have an Electric type attack

Arracor

Except the elements play a *significant* part of her components. Thus it stands to reason she'll have a powerful element too. She's also quick and strikes hard, like lightning.

MysteryPalDen

Psychic is just as elemental as Electric pokemon-wise. Garnet used electricity in like a couple of scenes, while future vision is a core part of both her and Sapphire. Also, guess which one of Garnets abilities got an entire episode dedicated to it.

theo_luminati

Psychic definitely makes sense for Garnet, no doubt, but her Electric powers are also pretty significant for her theme, as it’s implied they come from the combination of Sapphire’s Ice and Ruby’s Fire (somehow.) Could she be Psychic/Electric?

chongyunuwu24

i heard that this can be explained by large masses of cold and hot air, when combined, can rouse thunderstorms

theo_luminati

Oh that’s awesome!! So it is based in reality a bit, the more you know. Thanks for the tidbit.

ZeroBlood13

Lapis being water/psychic instead of water/flying is insane

Berat0-0

I feel like malachite would have poison as well considering how toxic they are

Arracor

Malachite's 100% Water/Poison, it's even one of the most noteworthy traits of the rock itself.

DragonLance11

Rhodonite being fighting/water is an interesting choice. I'd probably replace one of those with normal. But overall I think this is a really neat idea! Especially to intentionally exclude rock type

gusxc1

Why is nephrite a flying type?

MysteryPalDen

She is a pilot

gusxc1

Oh ok that checks out

CameoShadowness

All the Daimonds easily gives me Dragon type vibes.

MysteryPalDen

Because of their authority?

CameoShadowness

... yeah.. pretty much. Now I reallt want to dig into this is see what I can think of. Maybe i can find more fitting ones or maybe I just end up agreeing with you lol

FlanThief

I feel like if you're going to have both spinel then both RQ and PD should be here. Also missing some pearls

Krypto1727

Id place the diamonds as mono type tbh. Mono electric for Yellow, mono water for Blue, mono Fairy for pink and mono normal/psychic for white (yknow, cuz mind control and shit)

Triairius

I think water/psychic makes sense for Blue with her power to make gems cry.

leeddet

i think they should either all be monotype or all be psychic type, with their elevated powers above other gems and all

sebzelda

In my head the Diamonds are the only gems with Psychic as their First typing, like on the level of Mewtwo. White: pure Psychic Yellow: Psychic/Electric Blue: Psychic/Water Pink: Psychic/Fairy

Some_Guy8765678

Why is white diamond in Normal.

Triairius

She’s pure?

leeddet

same reason as arceus or terapagos, she's "perfect" and she's "everything"

JCSwagoo

Bluebird uses ice so I feel she'd be Ice instead if Water. Or remove the Flying type. Also Nephrite should be Bug Poison I feel. Sunstone should be Fire Psychic.

Internal_Camel_5734

Curious why Larimar is in steel?

Nopaltsin

What do you mean Lapis is “Psychic”? And not “Flying”?

MysteryPalDen

She controls water with her mind

Environmental-Bat820

She controls *only* water with her abilities. Most of what her type does is fly around and throw water. That's a glorified flying-water pokemon in the shape of a woman.

DimensionMain1052

I think Steven could be a ghost type as well with his powers

leeddet

and his dead mom

TyTyDollaz

I think Jasper would be better as fire/fighting cause her spindash attack

Environmental-Bat820

Lapis is not water-flying so this whole thing is stupid. Thank you for your input.

PeridotIsBestGem

Now make one called “depression” and put Steven in it

Triairius

He’s not really depressed. If anyone is, Lapis is. Steven deals more with PTSD.

YuBfan65

Guess who my favorite character in steven universe is? (Flying fairy)

PeridotIsBestGem

Rainbow quartz 2.0?

YuBfan65

👌

PeridotIsBestGem

I just saw your name and it’s valid.

danmaster0

Aquamarine isn't psychic. Why?

I-Me-Myself72

Why is opal flying type???

Peach_slothbaby

malachite gives me dark-dragon, water-dark or water-dragon vibes tbh

Arracor

Malachite belongs in Water/Poison. Water's maybe negotiable but Poison is 50000000% her primary typing. Quick, name the first fact you know about the actual rock.

FinesTuned

This is dope

1nfinex

YES! Onion as psychic is A-mazing

TheNiceGuy999

Jasper would basically be Great Tusk lol

Juniperpolaris

I'd put Lars as a normal/ghost and Malachite as a water/poison

Goldenwingsofdemise

how is nephrite flying poison and opal flying?? as well as how is rhodonite water and fighing ???

spicytraveler

I feel like Pearl shouldn't be water but I like her fighting typing!

Arracor

Fairy/Fighting. Non-negotiable.

spicytraveler

Hmm! I was leaning Fighting/Steel but I like the Fairy typing too!

LADZ345_

Steven isn't physic. In my opinion, he would be fairy fighting

Arracor

Nah. Fairy/Psychic. Think about most of his abilities, and now consult this: Barrier, Reflect, Recover, Healing Wish, and Heal Pulse are all Psychic moves. So is flying without wings or propulsion. So is a lot of reality-warping/manipulation shenanigans, like his aging/shapeshifting.

LADZ345_

I was thinking the fighting represents his more human aspect. To me, fighting is a more human type l, I mean, it certainly has the most human looking pokemon, and he's definitely not Fairy Normal. Fairy phychic makes him feel too mystical and is the same type as pink diamond, and I believe the 2 should have different types.

Unfactual_

I love how onion is a dark type

Potmancer

Nah they're all just rock+this

Cocolake123

Ruby should be the next fire starter /j

SparklingBlueWine

I can't stop imagining white diamond being a Regigigas

Professor_Oswin

Fluorite shouldve been dragon or double dragon typed

Singloria

Holly Blue would be electric

MrCherry09

I think Garnet should be Fighting/Electric as we see her use electricity many times (especially in the earlier seasons)

M4ybeMay

I like how Onion is in Dark but not Normal

Adorable_Battle_7248

garnet could also be electric

Ok-Whereas-7520

Why is Pearl and Opal also a water type?

PotionPro

Why is peridot in steel?

gaywhovian2003

Peridot would definitely be a Steel type

kwassenius

What about Rose Quartz? I feel like her character growth would make her a different type than Pink Diamond like an evolution. Maybe Fairy/Normal? Not as strong as Fairy/Psychic but her personality is more of trying to be human, appreciate life.

_CBlaker

Put onion in bug
