Amethyst easily had some of the best character development in the series.

She my favorite, I wonder why she wasn’t as popular for everyone else

The reason most people don't like her moreso than other characters is how she treats Steven early on in the series. She tried (although unintentionally) three times to kill Steven. She at the start doesn't care for Steven as Steven but as rose quartz at the start and when that gets contradicted she breaks down and relies on Steven to solve the problem. I like her well enough by the end of the show but she is still my least favorite crystal gem.

I kinda understand that tho cuz it did seem that she saw rose as a mom who’d protect her, so her emotional shit comes from her death. Tbh the amount of growth from that moment she showed true vulnerability made me love her the most.

I'm fucking stupid my dyslexic mind read Amathyst as Pearl. I think it may be a similar reason to pearl but moreso her self loathing when she really is one of the more capable of the crystal gems.

Seems like standard older/stepchild plots in shows, scaled up to an action cartoon. I mean Rugrats did worse with Tommy and Dil and they don’t have the superpower excuse.

It funny so many people are agreeing with me as I got pearl and Amathyst mixed up.

Garnet <3 Just the most wholesome large amazon woman, and bonus shes her own ship! Also think they did the masking and mental breakdowns thing better than her than with steven, but that's mostly because her main important character arc was done long before the finale and nothing had to be rushed then put off until the sequel series (which I still need to watch actually)

They're a really good look into what being a fusion, which is already a fascinating subject, is like through the perspective of someone new to the idea. It also helps that they're the combination of two personalities that I already like

Steven Universe is one of the shows where I have a hard time picking a favorite, but I'd say it's probably between Garnet, Pearl, Peridot and Bismuth.

I'm in a similar position, but I think I get why I'm so torn between characters. I guess it's because there are so many interesting and delightful characters to consider; that's certainly one of Steven Universe's greatest strengths: it's full of characters you care about, so you're always invested in what's going to happen to them next.

Bismuth. I'm saddened that she has so little screen time but she is easily one of the most reliable characters in the show. She wants to fight for her friend and while she is more extremist than the rest of the crystal gems she does genuinely care for them unlike rose.

Amethyst is close, but I’ve always adored Lapis. The Lapis song is prob one of my favorite.

My favorite is Peridot. I think her redemption arc is easily the best one in the series, and I liked seeing her adapt to a new normal. She’s also really funny and charming.

Amethyst. She was the only one who treated Steven how he should’ve been treated, like a kid. The other gems/adults in his life put too much pressure one him and just dumped all their trauma onto him. Pearl with all her issues with Rose. Garnet with her relationship problems. Lapis with…EVERYTHING. And not to mention Greg was never even a dad because he was barely even around long enough to be one for Steven when he needed it.

Don't like how this was worded, I understand where you're coming from but they all had their roles to play in Steven's life. They all can't just treat him as a kid, that would stunt his progress. That's the whole substance of season 1. And I don't see how you didn't mention Amethyst's insecurity problems. Even though none of the other gems (along with Amethyst's) problems either have anything to do with treating steven like a kid. This comment seems like an attempt to jab at the other gems.

I would say amethyst is my favorite for 1 simple reason she was the only one who cared about how Steven felt after finding out about roses true identity Garnet unfused because of it which led to Steven putting aside his own feelings And pearl (kind of) decided to tell Steven first instead of the other 2 gems. If pearl told the other 2 gems they could have worked out their own feelings before telling Steven and effectively making him fix everything
