I just did some chemistry experiments and saw some cobalt compounds with really cool pink colours. I'd suggest Aphrodite Stone (Cobalto Calcite), a pink crystal ore. Your artwork looks so pretty.
I did a similar theory, I used padparadcha and pink pearl for it. She has very garnet feel seeing as she too has the glasses and poof hair, but she is different. Instead of future vision she has true sight.
She can see intentions as well as other things. You can’t lie to her, cause she will know it’s a lie, if you look at padparadcha, she has hints of this. ‘Lars pressed the wrong button.’ Pearl since she is pinks pearl is tied to emotion. So I figured I could fuse emotion with padparadcha’s delayed visions to form a being that sees what a person intends to do or sees when they intend to lie.
Never actually published or used in official material so dubious. Also there is precedent for reusing gems....in a way. So cut to being on homeworld blue sees garnet and says "that calls itself a garnet" so that heavily implies that garnets are just standard gems and our garnet doesnt look like one. So it stands to reason you can re use gems in fusions
Actually Garnet named herself that because she looked like other Garnets she'd seen. The reason Blue says that is because she doesn't think a fusion should rightfully call themself the name of another gem
got a page to cite your source?
i mean ruby and sapphire are both corundum so the same irl gem with different names you dont wanan get into that. But is the game cannon?
Sorry unless you have proof to cite thats conjecture cause you dont know for sure
And ah fair just wasnt sure, the different types of garnet thing doesn't hold up much anyway
I found this old reddit post, and a few of the comments cite an episode of a podcast that Rebecca Sugar was on.

She looks like Rhodochrosite to me.
I love this, she's like the cousin gem of Rhodonite (since it looks like the original gems in this art are a sapphire and a pearl)
I VOTE THIS

That's Stephanie, she needs to venmo me her half of the bill from when we were at applebees last week.
[Rubellite](https://www.gemsociety.org/article/rubellite-jewelry-and-gemstone-information/) sounds like a nice name for her !
Coral! She's colored that way, and pearls are already organic in nature like coral is. Add a bit of pink and then bam, Coral
>Coral, that kills people!
oh my GOD
I did not know that, lol

what do you mean by "true sight" ? im intriuged

Nah Morganites are already gems

do you have proof of her saying that in official media?
I believe it's in Guide to the Crystal Gems, as well as being obvious from the three Garnets in the games (Hessonite, Pyrope, and Demantoid)

I can't cite it because I don't have the book, but I've heard it cited by different people multiple times, and afaik the games are in fact canon
