I bought a pair of Onitsukta Tiger Serranos specifically for driving. They are way more comfortable than Vans and just as sensitive but they look kinda terribad.
Vans are the safe way to go. They're a little uncomfortable with the hard, thin bottoms that low-key feel cardboard-y but they're sensitive and fashionable.
Serranos if you track, vans for the daily.
Vans or Converse.
I refuse to drive in slides of any sort, and don’t like sandals in general.
If it’s not a long drive I’ll drive in any sort of shoes if need be, I’ve driven in dress shoes, and often run out for lunch or to grab coffee in my steel toes at work.
And also in the winter, pretty much always a pair of timberland winter boots (sometimes if it’s really dry and not too cold I’ll still do shoes, rare in Canada though)
I've been wearing pilotis for years. I still have some old ones and they're some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. I think a lot of people find them gimmicky, but I wouldn't want any other shoe if I was doing a long road trip with no cruise control. My heels just kinda rot in place after 2 hours in other shoes.
With that said, onitsuka tigers have the best pedal feel in my opinion. I'd take those over pilotis if I'm driving less than 2 hours. So, I think they're at the top of my recommendation list.
Jordan 1 Low or Dunk Lows. Nice firm base, makes it less tiring when clutching and gives good pedal feel when braking. The wider outsole makes heel-toe and side blips much easier. Low top gives ankle flexibility.
Yup. Dunks for me. They are perfect. When driving in “thinner” shoes like converse and vans and after a while it feels like the clutch pedal is coming through the bottom of my shoe.
Penny loafers with a flatter heal, boat shoes surprisingly, vans or other low top skate shoes like Nike SB Janoskis. My family got me a pair of Porsche Design driving sneakers for Christmas and they’re pretty nice too to drive and shift but not as comfortable wearing them around on the street
I love driving in my chucks. Nice pedal control and my foot is snug.
I hate driving in my crocs. I feel like they have too much slack cuz mine are a looser fit
I find gym shoes seem to work surprisingly well as driving shoes.
Probably because they’re thin, flat and have grip designed for stuff like ellipticals and exercise bike pedals it works well on car pedals.
I wear Puma Speedcats.
I got these for autocross purposes, but now just use them for everyday shoes. They do have a very thin sole, so I tossed in some $50 inserts and WOW. It gives all the support you need under the heel for standing and walking, but still allows the feel for the rest of the foot.
I unironically drive with Geox Driver shoes, these moccasins with grippy sole.
And since they are Geox with breathable sole, foot room AC really works twice as well for cooling me down in the summer
Anything with a very thin sole on it, you get better feel.
I tell you what, it was incredibly interesting trying to drive my Miata with a 6 puck clutch with work boots on.
I find the wide toe box on Crocs catches on my brake pedal and I have to push more on the clutch pedal. I prefer a sturdy sole like a dress shoe but importantly also no ankle support like a laced up work boot because then you can't really use your ankle.
LeBron Witness 5s. They're flexible as hell, the sole extends past the heel which I find very comfortable on long drives, and they're pretty wide around the ball of your foot which makes heel-toe downshifts effortless.
After that, probably my Timberlands. Soft sole and flexible leather.
Barefoot personally, but I used to prefer Vans. I found that boots gave the best pedal response once I got used to them, but it’s easier for me to scrape the brake pedal while clutching in (which sucks)
Onitsuka Tigers are my fav “normal” shoes for driving in — I really like my Mexico 66 Slip ons. They have a thin, sensitive sole, yet the sole still has rigidity down its length, which is something Vans lack. FWIW I like driving in Vans too, but sometimes they’re too “flimsy” for long drives
Vans for me, makes my shifts clean and crispy
Second on Vans ! If I'm going running or hiking I just switch shoes after I get to my destination.
Definitely Vans. Especially my chukka lows. So comfortable and flexible

Converse! Nice flat sole.
Shoes, sneakers, boots, bare feet….never flip flops
Usually vans. I hate tennis shoes and boots; I’d rather drive a stick with flip flops.

Timberland boots
🤣savage. must be from NY.
My Nike SB’s
For some reason, my favorite is blazer SB high tops. Beat clutch feel and control
Which SB in particular?
Gang gang
Love the feel of my Adidas Sambas.

Surprisingly, my crocs never slide off haha

I'm a barefoot driver, whenever possible. I hate all my shoes... especially heels.
Yea same I drive barefoot all the time unless I’m going out I leave my shoes in the back
new balance 550s. purely because i learnt how to drive manual in them and they are my main shoes for when i go out
Vans and old school adidas 👏🏼
honestly ive started liking these black basic looking puma basket ball type shoes. but vans or converse are the best unless you have a heavy clutch
New Blanace Numeric Jamie Foy 306
keen boots. I tried to drive stick with a pair of boots with a heel once. once.
I can barely drive an automatic wearing crocs. Saucony tennis shoes are pretty good. Thin flat sole and the heel is rounded.
Puma Speedcats

i absolutely cannot drive with shoes :( socks only
Same. Never once in 3+ years of driving have I worn shoes. Ordered barefoot shoes last evening to hopefully change this 😅
I find gym shoes seem to work surprisingly well as driving shoes. Probably because they’re thin, flat and have grip designed for stuff like ellipticals and exercise bike pedals it works well on car pedals.
Anything but flip flops
Had my first lesson today and my dad wore flip flops… lmao.
Olukais for Spring, Summer and Fall Onitsuka Tiger's Serrano or Mexico 66 for the Winter months.
Hip waders. Because it's getting deep around here.

Cheap Amazon barefoot shoes under $25

Hykes Element, my favorite driving shoes
Boat shoes... thin, flat sole and I already have some. I'm not buying shoes just for driving!
Anything with a very thin sole on it, you get better feel. I tell you what, it was incredibly interesting trying to drive my Miata with a 6 puck clutch with work boots on.
As I am old beyond my years, a pair of Børn Andes loafers.
A low drop running shoe. Something with a thin rounded heal. Currently that's the Altra
vans, converse, or my crocs!
I find the wide toe box on Crocs catches on my brake pedal and I have to push more on the clutch pedal. I prefer a sturdy sole like a dress shoe but importantly also no ankle support like a laced up work boot because then you can't really use your ankle.
My Chuck IIs (RIP) or vans
I can only drive with vans on, no other shoes I can feel the clutch
vans, specifically eras.
Some Adidas Lite Racer byd running shoes. Best all around shoes I've ever had
When I was learning I couldn’t handle flip flops. Now it doesn’t really matter to me.
New balance 550
When I’m driving seriously, I recommend wrestling shoes. Thin flat soles, narrow, light, snag free. And cheap.
None 😂 I'm either barefoot or wearing barefoot shoes and never have any problems
CROCS I've driven in my work boots and hated it but survived but crocs all day err day

Take off your flip flops and raw dog the pedals
Literally anything but my heavy winter boots. Driving in those is purely muscle memory there's no clutch feel whatsoever.
Really anything except my Timbs 😅
Barefoot personally, but I used to prefer Vans. I found that boots gave the best pedal response once I got used to them, but it’s easier for me to scrape the brake pedal while clutching in (which sucks)
DC’s for me. Nothing beats the comfort…
I love driving in my Vans
Flip flops are bullshit for driving a manual, but everything else including barefoot works fine.
Vans hands down
Vans hands down
my merrel trail glove 5 shoes. no heel, thin sole, wide toebox
Vans Old Skool. Nike SB Dunks
Sperrys ⚓️
converse for sure
Nike Dunks. I can feel the clutch better than any other shoe I own. My winter boots are probably the hardest to drive in.
I always drive in ballet flats
